  1. I found out about geocaching because a class in my school was doing it as part of their geography topic. I'm now completely hooked! We're a fairly small special school and other classes are now involved - It's great to see them getting all excited in their wellies and anoraks before they set off and then to hear about how much fun they've had once they return. I look forward to (hopefully!) seeing a piece in the TES! With kind regards, Cat
  2. As a newbie I'm about to ask what may be a fairly daft question.... How do I go about finding out who to ask for permission to place a cache? Whilst walking the dog in various woods and along public footpaths, i've found a few sites that look to be great hiding spots but I have no idea who owns the land!! Here's hoping someone will enlighten me! With kind regards, Cat.
  3. What a great topic. I love the excitement of coming across an item that you can put in the next cache you find!!
  4. This is Hector. (not that he looks much like a geocaching hound in this picture!) We're both brand new to geocaching and found our first two caches on Sunday! Both now hooked.
  5. My husband has insisted that I am a geek after I have very recently discovered geocaching. He has forbidden me from telling any of our family or friends about my new hobby (not that I listen to him!). He has, however, very kindly bought me an etrex camo today. He said I had to have the camo version beacuse the yellow one was 'totally geeky' and at least this way 'people are less likely to see it'! Incidentally, the term 'spaz' is now deemed pretty offensive. (at least in the UK) It derives from the word spastic which was used years ago to describe somebody with cerebral palsy. This word isn't really part of acceptable language usage these days! (but this may just be the case in the UK!)
