I don't have a top 10 at the moment, but you might add one of those really compact shiney thermal blankets. The easily fit into yoru pack and could save you if you need to hold in some body heat.

www.brighthand.com is a great resource for handhelds. Check the forum link on the left then find the type of handheld you want info for, choose the manufacturer and model you want to knwo about. Tons of end user input.

Interesting. Maybe the operating temp is 5 degress F. but the temp change from 18 degerees to a nice warm house was just too much for the plastic to handle.... Just throwing thoughts out there. Never seen that before.

My lord man, you didn't even wait an hour before you posted here!
Check your original post at the other forum.

I don't use any. I've tripped and fallen with my 3+ in my hand. The screen smashed into a rock. The screen was undamaged.
Also, when my old WJ was totalled, it had to be pried from the wreckage. No screen damage.
There is a thread on the forums that asks how to polish a screen due to chemical reaction from deet. It would protect from that type of danger though.

I will leave this one alone as that is the pot calling the kettle black. Anyone can take and take.
Heh, yeah, he's never given anything at all to the Geocaching community. pfffffft

The other day I clicked a link in one of the threads here that took me to a website where they make stencils to spray on the sides of ammocans. The stencils said something like 'OFficial Geocache, do not remove' and had blanks to write in the waypoint and the name of the cache.
Does that sound familiar to anyone, if so would you happen to know the link I'm talking aobut?

Looks fine on my end...
Typical reply from the server side!!! I work IT and between the quoted phrase and 'reboot and see if it still happens' I hardly say anything.

When I was in the AirForce and we'd back up a piece of equipment for extended storage we'd toss about 4 'desi-paks- I believe they were called. Basically the same thing but huge, huge in comparison to the medicine bottle ones anyway, these were probably 5 inches long and 3 inches wide and if you measured from the ground to the top they were probably 2 inches thick with the absorbsion beads...
I know, really doesn't relate to the topic exactly but I was bored.

I saw in another thread some software called topofusion. In an effort not to hijack that thread I started my own. I downloaded the demo and it looks pretty neat. Does anyone here use it? Is there no map calibration or anything to do? Is it as easy as download your tracks and open them up? The demo made it seem that way, though admittedly I didn't spend much time playing with it yet.
Any reviews?

I was going to run a PQ for all the cached I've found. some of these finds are several states away. I started building the PQ as 'any type', 'any container', 'that I've found', then when it came to choose 'what country' the word 'unknown' is listed where 'United States' should be. I can't run the PQ by miles becasue it appears there is a 500 mile limit fomr the originating zip code.
Any ideas?

My wife was the one that suggested this activity to me! We were out walking one day and she says "There's this thing I want to try, you go find stuff with a GPS." How do you know what a GPS is, I thought to myself. A friend of hers on another message board she's on talked about it in a thread and the wife though it sounded cool. I agreed.

has anyone tried out racquetball containers, the kind with the screw-on lids?
Yes, there is a cacher around here who has hidden both the racquetball and tennisball containers. They work very well. That O-ring and the course threads really seal it up tight. They are not cheap, though.
they are when I play everyday at lunch
thanks for the info; I will save them for hiding some caches
I wasn't talking about these:
This is what I meant:
These run about $10, but are very durable and waterproof.
The tennis ball savers are bigger since they are made to hold 3 balls rather than two...those are the type I have at home. I can't wait to hide them!

I've got two of these at my house from my tennis playing days. I always thought they'd make great cache containers. I mean if they are airtight to the point they can contain like 12lbs of air pressure then they sure keep water out. They're even positively pressurized. I think I'm going to go dig them out and give them a coat of camo....

I'm running now. It's been on for a couple days.
