  1. Nevermind. After further research I fount it. I was thinking it was a free download. I didn't think to look in the "pay for" download area.
  2. For the life of me I can't find my CD that came with my 60c. I'm lookign for the waypoint manager software. Is there a place on the garmin website to download it? If there is I can't locate it. Anyone have a link? Chip
  3. Add another satisfied customer singin the praises of Garmin tech support. I called and told her I did NOT have the original reciept and what happened. She said that this time she'd set it up under warrenty. I have the address and RMA number and just need to get it packed up for shipping. Thanks for all the replies/advice. Chip

  5. Thanks for the replies here guys, it makes me feel much better. I reposted this thread in the "GPS and Software" area. It's more appropriate for this question.. To go to the repost click the link: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=133668
  6. I didnt' intend to crosspost but i posted the first in the wrong place and don't know how to move it to here.... Here's my post as it's more relevant to this section... I had the 60c attached to the bike handlebar mount. The bike fell over and the force of the impact caused the round attachpoint to break off. Now it wasn't just the round attachpoint that broke on the unit. It was actually the grey plastic on the back of the GPSr. I've emailed garmin, but no reply yet. What are the odds of them sending me replacement plastic? I know it won't be under warrenty and I dont' have the original reciept anyway. I just want to pay for the plastic and have them send it so I can swap the electronics to a new case. Any chance of this happeneing? If not, how much do you suppose it'd cost for garmin to do it NOT under wareenty? Chip

  8. been working fine for me.
  9. Start on page 12 of the tread on the link below. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...ic=72160&st=550
  10. I don't have the link handy but there is a place at the garmin webiste that's called 'compare units' you can select a couple of units and it'll put the stats side by side.
  11. So how do all of the nifty electronic gadgest like headphones, portable dvd players, cameras, gps's, etc... get powered during flight?
  12. Thought someone deleted my reply to this thread then realized you posted the same question twice...
  13. I've always considered my wench to be special. LOL, yeah, I read my spelling mistake after I hit the post button and really meant winch. I got a good giggle out of it so I just left it misspelled.
  14. This may not be the exact type of info you are looking for but there is tons of good stuff there bout the 60cs http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=72160
  15. Personally I don't consider a camera 'special' equipment. When I think of speical equipment I'm thinking more along the lines of SCUBA gear, 4X4, wench, rappeling gear; things like that.
  16. Just my opinion here, but mods can shut a thread down when they want. /shrug. That's why they were assigned the responsibility, to use their judgment on what is or isn't appropriate. A private forum is not a democracy.
  17. The one I and many many others started out with is the Garmin etrex yellow. They start right at 100 bucks and is a great little unit. Garmin has the 'geko' line out now too which are very simple and compact, but I have not personal expierence with the geko. I'm sure others will chime in.
  18. I hate to be 'that guy' but is this a legitimate question or are you just trying to advertise your item under the ruse of this question? I mean if one were really concerned one might would have wanted to ask this before setting up the auction and NOT posting a link to the item that is already up for auction. If I'm off base here then please accept my apoligies. edit: spelling
  19. Have you tried contacting garmin? Though I've never owned an etrex with the stick I've read these boards enough to know it's been a problem for many many people. As far as which GPS is best... that's another can of worms to open . You'll get different answers from all sides saying theirs is best. Personally I've owned two garmins adn been happy with both.
  20. http://wap.geocaching.com/ This is a better URL than the one listed earlier in the thread, I think anyway. Both will get you there it looks like. This one has a couple of more links on the main page though.
  21. I got my 60c yesterday and just downloaded xImage form the garmin website. I got it loaded and all I can see is how to change waypoint icons and to take a screen shot. I think I read it on these forums, but I was under the assumption we could change the splash screen on the GPSr as well. Am I rememberign wrong or jsut not seeing where to do it?
  22. I've taken your advice and contacted Garmin at that email address with my concerns. I talked about the maps being a couple years out of date (in my case one state highway has been in place and complete for over 3 years and is not included in the basemap). I also threw my 2 cents about not having an expansion card slot available for the 60c. It wasn't an angry or threatening letter. Just an end user expressign his concerns and letting the manufacutrer know what we (I) as an end user would like to see implimented in the future. Chip
