Panther On The Loose In East Sussex?!
The Flying Boots replied to Seasider's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Here in the Forest of Dean we have a problem with wild boar that can be quite aggressive apparently as well as big cat sightings one of which has been seen by Mr F.B. himself a couple of years ago. -
Geocaching Takes You To Unusual Places
The Flying Boots replied to Simply Paul's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
We too thought it looked very familiar. We were there a few years ago before knowing anything about geocaching. This has to be a great reason for returning now we know there's a cache there. -
Picnic In The Park (wiltshire)
The Flying Boots replied to Gowenhouse's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Myself (Mrs F.B.) and Booboo the dog need something to do for the weekend as Mr F.B. is off on a sailing trip so we'll be there and stopping at "Not a Real Event" in Bath from the Friday night to get a full days caching in and around Bath on Saturday. -
We had one published this morning in about half an hour. These reviewers do seem to work really hard and at all hours of the day and night. We're always amazed at how quickly they get it done.
-
Wow!!!! Thats amazing
-
Great idea. Not sure if I've added ourselves correctly yet, we don't seem to have appeared on the map.
-
LOL Hmmmm. Now thats a good idea Thanks for all your opinions and help. Our latest cache was published this morning complete with advice on bringing a torch.

Erratic Rocks - A Series
The Flying Boots replied to martlakes's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Harolds stones are made of the local "pudding stone" and legend has it that they were thrown down from the nearby Sugar Loaf mountain by Jack o'Kent, a giant, when he was playing pitch and toss with the Devil. They are marked on OS maps Does this help at all? -
Well so far it seems like the general consensus of opinion is that it's specialized equipment. So thanks for helping to clear that up. Looks like we're going to have to carry screwdrivers around now as well.
-
If a cache is placed in the dark and could only be found with a torch. Would you consider a torch to be classed a specialized equipment? It's something we normally carry around in the rucksack anyway so to us it's normal equipment but would like others opinion please.

The Main Thing That Caching Has Taught You
The Flying Boots replied to PopUpPirate's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
It's taught us there are little pockets of lovely countryside that we didn't know existed and would normally drive by. -

This is one of ours GCVDEC. We've called it the Druids Stone as it is said to have been used in Druid ceremonies. -
Thanks for the info. Its no use us looking into it then. Have just discovered a web cam and thought it might be suitable but as its not allowed we won't be checking it out. Thanks
-
Are web cam caches still allowed on GC.com or have they been moved to waypointing.com along with virtuals?

Mostly its great having Booboo with us. He loves the walk and whilst looking in the undergrowth I can pretend I've lost his ball. The only drawback is the times when he has to be on his lead (sheep fields mainly) and he's straining to get at them and I'm trying to hang on to him, GPS, map and walking pole together. I wonder what he thinks though when we arrive at a trig point and He gets hauled up on top to have his picture taken. Thinks "oh no not again!!!" edited for mispelling typo error

We've got a PQ loc going for the Gower and Swansea area.

I like to think my spelling is good but my typing is terrible and I'm alway gitting the wrong jeys making it look like the spelling's bad . Always having to re check everything before it goes live just in case this gappens but some errors do get through.

We were on Stinchcombe Common near Dursley last weekend and I remember thinking at the time that it was like walking through and alpine meadow with the amount of butterflies about.

The Merthyr Marathon Series (MM1 - GCGPKZ) by Write and Mane has a wheelchair friendly version available if you email the owners. There are 8 in the series altogether I think.
