  1. OK, I don't know if this is a bug or it is just me, but... When I copy a cache from one database to another - by selecting the user flag for the caches I want to copy over, then UserSet filter, then copy - I go back to the original database to deselect the user flag, it won't let me deselect the flag. In fact, I can't select any other caches either. Even if I go to a different database, I can't select the user flag on any cache. I can go to User Flags --> Clear All, and they disappear, but I can't select any other ones. I have to exit GSAK, and go back in and then everything works fine. The same thing happens if I delete caches by using the User Flag. Hope this makes sense.
  2. Sony Cybershot DSC-W1 Small enough to fit in a pocket and it has full manual controls. It also takes AA batteries, a big plus in my eyes - I always keep extra AA's with me for the gpsr. Best feature is the *huge* lcd screen.
  3. The Orienteering club here has one: http://www.orienteeringcalgary.ca/maps.htm#Nose%20Hill I've never seen it, but I'd like to - I keep meaning to go down there sometime - so I don't know how good it is. I think it come on *paper* !!! I'm not sure I know how to use that stuff!! My suggestion for a good Nose Hill cache is this one.
  4. Garmin 60 series... A lock switch (like on mp3 players). I'm always accidentally pushing buttons. On the map screen, have the data fields customizable depending on if I'm autorouting, or going to a waypoint or if I'm not navigating. (I don't need to see the distance to destination if I'm not actually going somewhere.) Ability to turn off the display to save batteries. When I'm out for a hike and all I'm really interested in is my track log.....
  5. Another source of height data is the NASA SRTM data. ftp://e0dps01u.ecs.nasa.gov/srtm/North_America_3arcsec/ The problem with that data is that it isn't "cleaned" up. So there is this program: http://www.3dnature.com/srtmfill.html which "fills" in the missing data. I just tried comparing the SRTM to the Geospatial data and there isn't much difference, the Geospatial data does seem to line up slightly better with the contour lines on my ETopo maps.
  6. For corrected coordinates: Whenever I enter some corrected coordinates, I have to put in the N and the W. I'm pretty sure I'll never need to use S or E. Is there a way to get it to default to N and W? Usually when I enter corrected coordinates, they aren't that far from the posted coordinates, I'd prefer if the posted coordinates came up in the corrected coordinates box, then I'd just have to adjust the digits as necessary. Also, is there a way to "share" the corrected coordinates across different databases? After I find a cache that has corrected coordinates, I get a new pocket query for my found caches, it would be nice if GSAK would find the corrected coordinates from the other database and use them in the found database. I guess it's not that big of a deal, really, considering how often I do it.. Thanks
  7. The show is online now at Chalktv. Show number 024 Recreation Rules. Looks like this is the cache they showed. Wet Coast Explorers perhaps?

    Calgary Geocachers

There is a mailing list for Calgary cachers, if you'd like to join it contact napgravy. No real organization, though. There isn't very much action on it, but once in a while there is something interesting. There are usually 2 or 3 event caches during the year - the last one we had, the grand prize was a balloon ride courtesy of balloonatic. The last couple of years graylling has put on rallies, the grand prize for one of them was a "ride" in a flight simulator. We should probably be having another event cache soon, maybe the spring.....

  10. I don't really have a problem with the bogus coordinates, but I've seen a bunch of the caches that say "ignore the posted coordinates" and then the first line in the cache description says "go to such and such coordinates" Why not just post the starting coordinates above? How can that be giving anything away?
