  1. By the way, there are SD cards, MiniSD cards, and MicroSD cards. I know you can get an adapter for the MicroSD so you can plug it into a SD reader slot on you puter. Not sure about that with the MiniSD. yep. i have one for my cellphone. BTW, i just got a 128mb micro sd card with adapter off ebay for .01cents, plus 14.95 shipping and "handling. Good deal?
  2. Ive thought about carrying a stamp, but it is just something extra you have to carry. Maybe i will have to get the wife a fanny bag to wear lol.
  3. just change the cache cooridinates to the cop shops cooridinates.
  4. On my 60csx i have alot of geocaches loaded into it. How can i guickly turn the icons off then back on when i want to?
  5. Is there a way to increase how much text can be saved on a custom poi? When i made a poi i typed in a long sentence, but when i viewed it on my gps only half the text showed up. Also, how do i delete the custom poi off my gps?
  6. i love riding my motorcycle out route 6. Kinzua dam is beautiful!
  7. Saw an article in the local paper Saturday about Geocaching. Kind of funny seems how i just got into it last week. Wish i would had got into it 3 years ago when i bought my first GPS. I never figured there was a following around my area.
  8. I have a 60csx, but I think I'd get a 60cx if I had it to do over again, because the barometric altimeter & compass aren't that useful. I find the electronic compass to be probably one of the most useful features on my 60csx. We were snowmobiling this past weekend and if i had to rely on gps compass alone, we would have made alot of wrong turns. For some reason the pointer frequently points the wrong direction. As soon as i turn the electronic compass on it spins the pointer right around to the right direction. Other than that, i dont really need to know altitude a barometric pressure. Also, the built in geocaching features are rather nice on the 60.
  9. Thanks. I was wondering the same thing and was about to post this question, then i found this thread. Otterbob
  10. Got mine last week for $427 with free overnight. This week the price dropped another $18. New sealed unit, Chumbo rocks!
  11. where? Mapsource Topo Ebay Okay, maybe not right now, or anymore, , but there was one on there for 50 or so. If you find a good buy on the streets software let me know. I would like to have that software too.
  12. What the heck! I just got my 60csx last week from chumbo. it was $427 with free overnight fedex. Must be they dropped the price $18 bucks. Oh well. Everything went good with getting mine. Came overnight via Fedex and the unit is factory new. Even went out and got my first Geocache yesterday, and took it snowmobiling all day today. Nice unit.
  13. basically my point is that you have to spend about twice as much for mapsource to get the road name details that you have to with magellan mapsend topo. went on my first geocache today, and it was a sucess! im hooked! i love my new garmin 60csx. i think the best feature ive noticed so far is the electronic compass! several times using gps compass i would notice it wasnt working right. bang, turn the electronic on and it works like a charm. i would really suggest to anyone in the market for a gps to spring for a model with the digital compass.
  14. Ok, that is what i thought. So basically i have to buy $200 worth of software to do what $100 worth of software will do with Magellan. Thanks, Otterbob
  15. i will probably get flamed for this but here goes. Is mapsource software junk or am i doing something wrong? The software doesnt seem to show about 40% of the roadnames (mostly seasonal roads and dirt roads) in the software. I have the detail set at high. Even street names in my small town arent listed. When i hover the pointer over roads without names, it kindly pops up and says "road" i know that everyone is goin to say buy the mapsource streets, but i think mapsource is a crock. I have mapsend topo software (for my old magellan gps) and that program lists everything the mapsource topo and mapsource streets lists combined for the same price just the mapsource topo or streets costs. So basically, am i doing something wrong? Do i have to shell out another $100 for the streets version? also, how can i get my mapsource (the 3 cd with east, west, AK, HI) to run off the hard drive? I have to run it off disk which is a PIA. So far i love the GPS (60csx), but hate the software.
  16. www.chumbo.com. $427 for a 60csx with free overnight shipping.
  17. that would be fine but there is no install files on the disk, only .img files. do you know that it is possible or are you just guessing? the main disk installed but i have to run the us east off disk.
  18. i have a new 60csx and mapsource topo. my question is if there is a way to load the topo software directly onto my hardrive so it doesnt have to run off the disk. the magellan mapsend can be set up either way. thanks, otterbob
  19. i had a sporttrak pro and switched to a 60csx garmin. seems like the garmin's are real pricey compared to the magellans. i like the mapsend software for the magellan better than the garmins mapsource. other than that, i really dig the electronic compass on my new 60csx. my opinion is you are paying big bucks for a garmin just because of the name.
