  1. I got these sample images form the coin mint this morning and all I could say was... WOW.

They look GREAT!! and look so nice!! I should be receiving the samples by the end of next week. Can't wait to get them in my hands!!!!

Here are some of the pictures:

I have to say that the coin mnit did a great job on these coins!!! to reserve these Mini Seashell Geocoins, click HERE

    thx!

  2. Do most folks ship their coins with their own postage machines or online postage, or do you just take the armfuls of packages to the post office / postal store for them to add the postage labels?

I use PayPal for domestic shipping. I bring all my international packages to the post office

  3. I wrap my coins in small bubble pockets (usually fits 2-3 + separate them with cardboard). then I ship them with #000 or #00 tan biubble mailers depending on quantity

  4. OK. As of today..... mass production for the triple dragon geocoins have begun!!!! WOOHOO!!!! :anitongue::anibad:

I should have pictures of the new coins by the end of next week! :D

One revision: The background will not be sandblasted as I hope it would. The coin mint cannot guarantee a smooth finishing. So I have decided not to sandblast the background afterall.

    Estimate shipping date: April 16

Presales should start in the next couple of weeks. For those who have reserved the triple dragon coins would be able to make purchase before the general public.

If you have not made your reservations, you can reserve them here

    Thanks again for you patience!!

  5. yeah but... as discussed in earlier threads.... we're not sure if bubble mailers are considered to be 'flats'.... I use 2 bubble wraps when I send coins out so I might have to think of anotehr way..... we'll have to see....

Bubble mailers are typically thicker than 1/4" which makes them fall into the non-machinable category. According to the link in one of the above posts, all non-machinable mail will pay the rate for flats. The P.O. has essentially applied the non-machinable surcharge to all non-machinable items - regardless of weight.

    gotcha. thanks for the clarification!

  6. AND ---

    based on the table here:

    http://www.usps.com/ratecase/fcm_single_piece_presorted.htm

I think that we should engage in more multi-coin trades now. Postage is actually going to get cheaper for 'flats' above 7 oz.

  7. Why can't they make up their mind on what they want postage to be. Geez I just bought two rolls of stamps and I will now have to go out and buy some 2 cent stamps. GAHHH B)B)

I feel your pain but now in Canada we have stamps that keep their value forever. You buy them today and when the letter rate goes up, they are still good fo sending a letter. Rates go up again, they are still good. Too bad they can't be used on anything but letters, but it's better than nothing - sort of. Now if they could just figure out how to get a package from the USA to here in less than 3 weeks...

we have forever stamps as well, but it just seem silly to go up to the post office and say.... excuse me, can I please have 100 rolls of stamps please :(

  8. Does the price include shipping?

S/H is separate. But these are zinc zlloy coins, so they will be fairly light. I don't have any info on the imitated stones yet (in terms of weight). I know they're 5mm in diameter. Doubt they are heavy.

  9. OK.... these are some of the picturs of the top (or the front) of the mini seashell geocoins... We're using a temp. mold right now. As soon as I Oked them, they will make a perm. mold to avoid too many screwups. Now they can work on the bottom (or the inside) of the mold!!!!! LOL

    They look awesome!!!

  10. Changes on the way for shipping costs!!!

Changes to start on May 14th, 2007. (though some changes may be delayed)

    New releases:

    http://www.usps.com/communications/newsroom/welcome.htm

    http://www.usps.com/communications/newsroo...07/pr07_023.htm

Proposed (some accepted) rates for first class.

    http://www.usps.com/ratecase/fcm_single_piece_presorted.htm

first class letter 1oz rates will increase to .41 May 3, 2006. with reduction in additional oz rates of .20

different initial ounce rates for flats and parcels.

Do our coin bubble mailers count as letters, flats, or parcels? it didn't matter before as after the first ounce it was the same rate, now it will matter.

well this is gonna be fun....

:o yeah I wonder if the bubble mailers would be considered letters or parcels....

  11. It is a LOT of work to sell coins, but the result can be fruitful. I have learnt so much and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me. I have gained knowledge from negotiating with the coin mint, designing the coin itself, talking to cachers about tehir experiecnes in making coins, dealing with forum drama, creating a website, reseraching the best packaging methods, to keeping a list of buyers and making sure all your coins are shipped (which is not as easy as it sounds).

and it is SO COOL to know that people are caching with coins YOU created! There are always people that like what you do and there are always people that hate it. You need to decide if all the trouble you go through is worth the experience. In my opinion, it is.

  14. All right... I have received the samples from the mint. They are still not up to par.

Due to the holiday, I will be negotiating with the mint on Thursday.... Quite frankly I don't know how many more rounds of changes it will take.... but this is quite frustrating....

Thanks again for everyone's patience and I will keep you updated on any positive changes.

PS happy chinese new year everyone!

  15. You need a nice little theme to put on this one, something like "Caching's a Beach", or "I shore love caching". Rotten puns, I know, but that's one of the things I do best :)

yeah... I thought about that too  Started coming up with a bunch of themes but they all sounded pretty silly and wordy.... so I settled with just something simply

  16. Very nice, unique design.

    Really?

Maybe they will be finished like the seashells from the geocoinclub last year?

I was thinking that too. This one looks cooler, but its been done once already.

I agree - down to the pearl (which you'll want to be sure stays attached, unlike the GCC coins). And just to clarify - I'm not picking on the person, project, or design. I only meant it just isn't all that unique. Maybe everything old is new again ... in internet time, 6 months can be a lifetime!

I still have a coin and pin set if anyone wants it ...

Oh really? I did a search a couple of months back and didn't find any seashell geocoins. hmmmm... I also always been away from the forum too...

AHHH. Found a picture of it on the e-place. Yeah... it is a smiliar idea but I have to say it's a different design <_<

Thank you fior bringing that to my attention though. I do appreciate that!!!!

  18. So this is my next awesome project — The Mini Seashell geocoins!!

These little treasures are small. 1” by 1” and 4mm thick to be exact. A piece of gemstone will be attached to the base on the inside of the shell. As always, these geocoins will be trackable on geocaching.com, have custom prefix and custom icon

What do these little buddies look like? Well, we have a drawing for you here!!

    382053829_944e78783b_b.jpg

These mini geocoins will fit in most film canisters and mini caches. Although I have yet to determine the final finishing and gemstones types on these seashells (isn’t it always the case!), it is likely that only a couple of plating options and gemstones to be available (in some sort of combinations).

Reservations for these cute Mini Seashell Geocoins will begin in the next couple of weeks and estimate shipping date will be early April.

    Enjoy!
