  1. Ed Man Walkin'! Congratulations!
  2. I'm digging the new look.
  3. The NYS Parks Dept. needs to see geocachers as an asset to the park system. I've trashed stuff out in Harriman on more than one occasion. Not only that, but there were at least 2 CITO events held at Lake Skannatati in Harriman.
  4. Just because you might follow the guidelines when placing caches does not mean that all people will follow them when finding them. The fact that you got a permit to place a cache will not stop people from parking illegally or bushwhacking to the cache. Are they going to revoke your permit because someone else didn't follow the rules. This permit is laughable. If you look at the scanned images, the last section labelled "Participation" seems to be aimed at cache finders. When would a cache finder ever see this permit and those rules???
  5. Did you clear the memory before and after loading the new firmware? Try going to MENU -> SETUP -> CLEAR MEMORY -> ALL. The unit should shut off. When you power it back up it will ask to be re-initialized. Go ahead with that and then leave the GPS somewhere with a clear view of the sky for at least 30 minutes so it can get all the almanac data.
  6. Thank you everyone for your kind words. It's been a blast meeting and caching with you all. I'm looking forward with anticipation to the next 200!
  7. Congratulations! I should hit 1000 in 8 years or so.
  8. Congratulations! and thanks for all the great hides!
  9. Can this handy feature be added to the Magellan SD card export function?
  10. Congratulations It's been a pleasure hiking and caching with you.
  11. Boating in Harriman State Park is permitted from April 1 to November 30 from 5AM to 10PM. A boating permit is required. It is $15 and available at the ranger station at Tiorati Circle or at the Beaver Pond campgrounds. There is an additional $10 charge if you want access to lakes Welch, Stahahe, and Tiorati. When getting your permit, you must bring the boat and wearable Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) for each person who will be on board. Children under 12 must wear a PFD at all times. Boats with electric motors must be registered with a state and have registration numbers on both sides of the bow. Gas-powered engines are prohibited. Motorized vessels must also carry a signalling device such as a whistle or horn and an anchor. I don't know if any of the stages of this cache are on islands, but in the paperwork that accompanied my boating permit it states: Boats must remain at least 300' from all islands, public beaches, and camp docks. I haven't had any problems fishing from my boat less than 300' from islands; leaving your boat to search on an island might attract more attention. I've also witnessed the Park Police writing tickets for equipment violations, e.g. lacking PFDs for all aboard the boat, no whistle, etc. New York Boating Regs. /my $0.02 Edit: added signalling info and link.
  12. Had a good time traipsing about the woods with the group today.
