  1. I should first say that I have not owned either of these units. But, I have had a StreetPilot which has the same style antenna as the V and had no problem with it. The thing is very rugged. Plus when you are caching in open areas you can fold the antena down next to the unit to get it out of the way. If price is not an issue I would think the V would be more versitile as it is more readable in the car. If size is the issue the Vista wins. I have spent a lot of time "shopping" and finally descided on the eTrex Legend as price was an issue with me and it provided all the features I needed for the best price. BTW, here is the best pricing for new units I have seen. Great prices and they DON'T gouge you on shipping. Glorfindel. [This message was edited by Glorfindel on August 19, 2002 at 03:39 PM.]
  2. Poor little guy, so far from home, lost. We shall just have to wait and see where he resurfaces. Anyone willing to put a little wager. Is he lost or just overlooked. Just joking on the bet thing.
  3. I must admit that I am still fairly new at this. Been caching since June and this being my first bug I guess I got a little anxious. I will surely watch is grow more stale than this throughout its life.
  4. Your right. Poor guy is has probably lost 30+ with his new sweat treatment. Hope you find him well.
  5. If anyone is traveling throught Utah on I-15 I know a very nice Travel Bug that could use some help getting back on his way. He probably has moss growing on him by now. The cache he is in >> His bug page >>
  6. I know there are already tons of threads dealing with this topic, but as I look for info I get lost in the divergent tracks leading down paths of memory size, screen color, etc. Let's list the PDA apps we use to help us cache. Links for the downloads would be cool too. I have just started using my PalmVx to supplement my caching. Right now I use AvantGo to download the geocaching.com info of local caches. I am not downloading the straight geocaching.com pages. I am using a service from Brian Scearce he give for finding his Travel Bugs. View his service here >> I have also tried an app called GPS Hunter Get it here >>. I never paid for it and let it expire though as I didn't end up using it that much. It's mainly for taking notes about at cache once at the spot, like coordinates, took, left, etc... Looking forward to hearing your ideas!
  7. Amelie Not truly very Geocachish but definately a hidden treasure full of cool caching items. Remember the scene in the bathroom where she find the loose tile and the the box hidden in the wall. Perfect spot for a cache. See the movie.
  8. I thought some of the same things in these movies. How about the "Weather Top Cache" in the nice dell below the summit, or the "Stone Troll Cache" just under Tom's foot.
  9. There has to be a producer, director, or at lease a writter somewhere into Geocaching. Let's get a movie with true caching elements in it. We could even get Ken Burns or Warren Miller to document caching.
  10. Thanks. I am a little new to the Forums and found that section just after putting up my post.
  11. How about the classics? "Around the World in 80 Days" Jules Verne! PS. check out my travel bug very close to your topic! The Book Worm travel bug
  12. The Garmin StreetPilot I was borrowing was recalled by the owner. Does anyone have a GPS for sale. I am very attracted to the eTrex Vista but am look for deals. Please reply to this post or email me. I AM JONESING FOR A CACHE! Glorfindel gandalf465@mac.com
  13. Good point. His log on the site shows the day after I was there but that could just be when he posted his log on the site. I did not read the log book in the cache. I should have taken the time.
  14. Doh! I must have missed it. That'll teach me. I better pay closer attention in the future. I just don't get it. I took everything out. So a Party Bug is a Travel Bug and vice versa? Is there anything beyond the status symbol of having found and passed these little guys on?
  15. Is there a difference? I found a cache this weekend and when logging my find dismayed at seeing the person who visted before me planted what he called a "party bug" and the person who logged after me claimed finding a "party bug". Did I simply miss it? The only thing I can think of was there was a plastic toy scorpion in the cache? What am I missing here? I have looked at the Travel Bugs section of Geocaching.com and think I get it but I would have noticed one of these. Anyway I appreciate the info for a new cacher
