In responce to the Fire Tack Topic

Sounds a great idea - very resourceful/effective and not too expensive. Would replicate well for an event, maybe swap the DP bags for something that wouldn't be confused for "the real thing" in the wild though -

Here's a sample GPX file: http://www.travelbygps.com/gpx/pubs.gpx from... http://www.travelbygps.com/guides/england/pubs.php If these work ok with your unit, so will any other genuine GPX file. Hope this helps -
Hampstead Heath. Look out for Luzian's, some great one's there. If you can stray further, there's some crackers round Windsor too.

Hate to say it, but isn't that typically Piratemania weekend?? It is... but hopefully it'll be Megapiratemania come 2012 http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=...subj=1755142586 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC2509R -

Sorry to hear of the rough time you've had of late, camping events haven't quite been the same but also glad that you are on the mend and out caching again! Hope to see you soon!!! -
Apparently on phoning camp, people have been greeted by various "ARRRR"s... they're ace!! Please state your intent to attend now, as it helps with the organisation side. Soundtrack of the weekend... http://www.youtube.com/user/FishermansFriendsTV

Check out that SE caching link... MMSIRFSETUP is what you need, for both the Ipaq and the Mio. -
HP IPAQ RX5720 HP IPAQ RX5720 HP IPAQ RX5720 ... the most common caching PDA and with good reason, there's even a user group dedicated to it! http://www.secaching.co.uk/forum/viewtopic...?f=10&t=130 Commonly available on Ebay for under £100, does everything that's needed, faultlessly. Battery life outstanding. Signal strength outstanding.

If there is an obstruction to a path, you're permitted to remove it. From the Ramblers : 21. What is an obstruction on a path? Anything which interferes with your right to use it, for example a barbed wire fence across the path or a heap of manure dumped on it. Dense undergrowth is not normally treated as an obstruction but is dealt with under path maintenance. Highway authorities have a duty “to prevent as far as possible the stopping up or obstruction” of paths. 22. Can I remove an obstruction to get by? Yes, provided that you are a bona fide traveller on the path and have not gone out for the specific purpose of moving the obstruction, and that you remove only as much as is necessary to get through. If you can easily go round the obstruction without causing any damage, then you should do so. But report the obstruction to the highway authority

1 month in - Got GPSr, now want PDA for paperless...
PopUpPirate replied to TheDobbins's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
HP Ipaq rx5720. Superb. In-built SIRF3 GPS, will happily run Memory Map and enable you to go full paperless. The GPS signal strength is as accurate as any GPS on the market. At £80 (second hand) on Ebay, it's a bargain. Probably the most common caching PDA out there. It does the lot - can't remember the last time I fired up my Garmin, much as I loved it.
