War Memorials and Memorials to the Deceased
PopUpPirate replied to Deceangi's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Beware of rule creep! I appreciate Dave's post / reasoning, but am generally against any extra rules, before you know it there's lots and lots of them which in principle are individually probably a good idea, but taken collectively, it's an ever-increasing tide. Wonder what the Highways Agency think of magnetic caches on road signs, for instance? -

Or archive and then ask a friendly reviewer to unarchive later? -

Most Smartphones use Quick Fix (or similar) which means that they get a loose location off phone masts, before getting a super accuracte fix from GPS satellites. Getting a phone mast fix uses a smidgen of data. Getting a satellite fix doesn't. If you don't have a data plan then turning off Quick Fix is wise. You'll have no loss of accuracy... you just might have to wait a couple of minutes rather than 15 seconds to get a fix. If you DO have a data plan then the amount needed to get a satellite fix is negligible so leave it switched on. Orange are pretty good if you phone 'em up and tell 'em you need a small data allowance, they're pretty good with v reasonably priced "bundles" / package tweaks.

I normally put a small kitten in my caches, and find that when the kitten is thirsty, it will lap up any water in the container

I'm on the list with 155, Mandy, but have actually hidden 236 (and that's what my profile shows). However, the list here shows just ACTIVE caches, which makes sense I guess

Tongue only slightly in cheek About Footpath Fever We have Motorway Mayhem. We have A-Road Anarchy, and we have SideTracked. But what about people who like to get away from it all, and find a decent sized box that requires a short walk? Footpath Fever started at Charnock Richard in Lancashire. It may take a while to get started, but like the other series, it's expected to spread across the country! If hiding one PLEASE BE SENSIBLE and remember that in this day and age, seeing something "off the beaten track" may come as a suprise to townie folk. If you see a field full of ruminating ungulates, don't worry, you've not inadvertantly wandered into a zoo - these animals are in fact COWS and SHEEP and can be watched for free! The first one is listed, have you got any Footpath Fever caches you'd like to hide, or perhaps you could edit your existing cache listings so that they start off "Footpath Fever - Name" and spread the word I'll bookmark as appropriate. Who'd've thought it - cache boxes in rural locations

Trust Pete to get a rise...

There's quite a bit of generally undulating terrain - check out the contours, which are pretty true on the ground. TBH as rural & accessible caching goes - it's pretty good. I say do it.
