  1. After seeing everyone's homemade, crafty sweet sigs, I'm slightly embarrased to reveal our sig item. Ours isn't home made, and in fact doesn't even have our name on them - We use instant scratch tickets. We like them for a variety of reasons, like they're only $1 so the kids can trade for something without spending a lot, an adult might actualy get to trade for something other than mickey d's toy, and someone might just get a great surprise and win something. We try to use the tickets that support the state's wildlife fund (Maine) so it works out great all around.

  3. I've found this once also. We were out one day and ran into another family. We did back to back caches together, and when I logged them online, I mentioned caching with them but they never logged either cache. I like reading everyone's experience befroe we try it since it helps determine whether it is kid friendly or even possible for us to do in a certain time, etc.

  4. We've used instant scratch tickets as our signature item since we started caching. I have to give the wife credit for the idea, but it works great. We try to buy the ones that support the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund so we provide money for that, a chance for an adult geocacher to maybe trade for something besides a McDonald's toy, AND it cost a dollar for the kids to trade for something they want. A win-win in our humble opinion. We always put in our log to remember us if you win, and we have heard of a few winners, but nothing bank breaking - YET

  5. We use instant scratch tickets as our signature trade item. I try to buy the ones that support the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund, they are only $1, and the kids are the only ones that trade (usually for those McDonald's toys) When I log our finds, I always put the tag line: "Good luck to whomever keeps them, remeber us if you win" I like to look up the caches we left the tickets in and see if anyone won big. So far, only a few small winners. As far as gambling is concerned, I figure any kids caching wouldn't either care about them or wouldn't know what they were anyway and would trade something cooler.

  6. We use instant scratch tickets as our signature item. The ones we use support the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund, plus they only cost $1 so it's not an expensive item yet it could bring riches to the person who keeps them  We seal them in ziplock snack bags and they will fit in virtually any cache.
