  1. To muddy the waters even further, a line from a current ebay auction reads: "THIS ANTIQUE COPPER XLE ARTIST EDITION GEOCOIN WAS NEVER MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC!!!" I suppose we can add XLEAE to the list of Geocoin terminologies? I can see both sides of this debate and have been schooled quite a bit from some of the posts here about the origins and original intent of the term AE. I think the issue now is that the use of the AE term has strayed and in some cases is being used for personal gain, which I believe was never intended.
  2. We'll be there the 28th - 1st... so you won't be the only ones walking around looking like you dropped something.
  3. Never mind... found the needed email at work. #872
  4. What if you can't find the order number? The best I can come up with is the Express Checkout Payment ID. Looks similar, but not quite the same format. That number ends with 813.
  5. Waiting patiently for acquisition info.
  6. I went on a road trip a few days day ago and left 10 activated GeoTags behind in caches. Cachers are discovering them, picking them up and tracking them just like a 'real' geocoin. Imagine that. Haven't yet received an email asking what that POC is I left behind in a cache. The thing is, I don't/won't think twice about dropping these in caches as opposed to something I spent $8, $10, $12 on. I definitely will be ordering more once the initial 50 are gone.
  7. Charge so much? The initial cost, including a custom, personalized front die and 4 colors and INDIVIDUAL tracking numbers cost less than a travel bug tag. The re-order cost is less than HALF the cost of a travel bug tag. Sheesh... Some are questioning why others are defending the coins, as if that implies insecurity, I question why some are so adamant about not calling them geocoins, what is THEIR agenda?
  8. Nobody is really changing the name, it says right on the activated coin's page that it's a GeoTag Geocoin:
  9. For those of you that do not consider the GeoTag Geocoins to be 'real' geocoins, what is it about them, in your opinion, that disqualifies them as geocoins? Apparently Groundspeak considers them geocoins as they are the ones that approved them per their own geocoin guidelines.
  10. Anybody have any idea when the icon(s) might show up?
  11. If by 'others' you meant me, I tried to make it clear that I was not and am not 'upset'. You unknowingly chose a flavor that had been used by someone in the first group. You then decided to change your flavor after being made aware of that and communicating with the other person. Sounds like it all worked out for everybody involved. That's great. No, PennyPacker, I didn't mean you specifically, although you did mention you weren't "upset, just disappointed". I obviously didn't realize that you could make up a name, which is what I would rather do anyways. I am a little slow on the uptake sometimes, so forgive me. I just want these cute coins~that's all! Not being the creative type, I'm having a hard time with the making-up a name this time. Well, I did make one up, but it wouldn't fly. Actually, I did have one earlier. As Ms. PennyPacker and I were on a 1600 mile road trip this past weekend, we were discussing coins as we were dropping them off in caches. As I fiddled with her GeoJelly to drop it off I commented that it reminded me of a Kidney Bean and since she has 2 pending kidney stone removal surgeries on the horizon, I should make a new coin for her with the Kidney Bean color and called in Kidney. She chuckled... more of a nervous reminder about the surgeries, I think. But unfortunately, the flavor is taken. I guess I could make one called Gallbladder.

  13. I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but it was already picked. (No not me!) POST#200!!!!!!! oh no your kiddin This might be a good time to let EVERYBODY from the original GeoJellies group, the ones that supported the entire project from the beginning, know that their flavor can, and in some cases already has been taken by somebody else who will be producing a coin with the same flavor, maybe even the same colors as the coins they designed and paid for in the first round. Just to ease some of you concern, MOST of us made up our own Jelly names. Obviously you are upset about the new group having the same names and possibly the same colors. Maybe you could try dropping pghlooking a quick email about your concerns. Most of us are reasonable and easy to get along with and quite honestly I can understand where you are coming from. Even with a different metal finish, I don't want the same jelly name as anyone else and if a 3rd group were to be minted, I wouldn't want anyone taking my name and having the same colors. Being a member of the second group (I never even knew there was a geojelly group until the thread was posted), maybe you could offer/pose a solution that if someone picks a name that has been used; say "cotton candy", that it be altered in some way...."cotton pickin candy". Hey, just my 2 cents..... tsun Not upset. Disappointed. I have brought the issue up in the Jellies Group. I've read the replies here & there. I'm trying to see both sides. Fact is, *I* would never have chosen a flavor that somebody used previously. In my eyes, that flavor is taken, whether it's a gold, silver or black coin, the 'flavor' is off the table. While the coins (let's remember - they're just coins - agreed) are not 'true' personals, they were in the beginning, unique. I chose Cotton Candy as a surprise gift for Ms. PennyPacker. She loves pink, loves accompanying me while caching and loves tracking coins. She loves HER new 'personal' coins. Tell you what, pick ANY personal coin in the community that has a cachers name on it, replace the name with yours (not you specifically), keep the artwork the same and change the finish of the metal. See how that works with the original 'owner' of the coin. I don't see any relevance to where the flavor name came from, original or made-up, it's already taken. And at this point, it's gone too far. Too much has been made of it, it's a no-win situation. I'll leave the rest of the discussion to the GeoJellies Yahoo Group.

  15. Unfortunately, the flavor you had in the first group is available to anyone in the second group.
  16. Any pictures? Not yet. I don't have a suitable camera but may get a photo soon I hope. Will this do? Thanks for the surprise Jim and NICE COIN!
  17. I'd like to trade for a copper coin if you have any left. My available coins are in my sigline.
  18. I have a few of these for trade only. There were 16 of each made. The Cotton Candy glows in the dark and the Margarita is glitter. Also, I'd like to thank Jim (pbhlooking) for the job he did getting and keeping the group together and overseeing these coins from start to finish, and thanks to gridlox and Oakcoins.
  19. Part 2 So after I got over all the May Day excitement, I moved on to the other package, obviously it's the Geo-Birthday package as noted on the back: Looking for clues as to the sender I spot this on the return address label: The Merry Little Geobirthday Gnome? No help from that! So I open it up: The inner packaging is busting at the seams... and there's a card: and it's signed by The Secret Geobirthday Queen! Obviously, I'm still clueless. So now I open up the next part: Good grief, I say to myself, I better get started. Here's what came out of all that: 3 fresh geocache log books. A CacheZone.de pen. A North Dakota coin - I've been meaning to get this coin for months. A Cointracking.com Coin Image Placeholder coin, another coin I've wanted. A Pathfinder Club coin - very cool. An Anthus Firefighter coin, another coin I've wanted for some time. An Allinfun sig item. A Texas smashed penny. A Krewe of Centuar sig item. A Green Ribbon pin. An Arkansas pin. and a Michigan pin. May be some clues in here as to the sender, but I'm leaving well-enough, alone. This was an incredibly generous package and I can't thank the sender enough... really. I feel like I really hit the jackpot with these last 3 'secret' exchanges (not that the prior ones were any less appreciated). There was a great deal of thought and preparation put into what I received. Thank you all very much. Oh... and one last picture, you can't have gifts without this: Trash!
  20. (Had to split this post up into 2 due to the number of images) Part 1 Had quite a load in the mailbox today... in fact, in addition to junk mail, the mail-person left a key to one of the bigger boxes at the end of the mailbox hut. 6 different coin packages were in there, the highlight of the group were these two: and this Couldn't wait to open them up, but I just had to see if I could determine the sender before I opened them. The first package had this clue: That city and country rang a bell since I have sent coins there before. When I opened up the package I found these: An antique gold Nero v2, which I did not have, but I really like it. A Crake Autumn Rose set, now I can actually put one on my fridge rather than stash it in a collection, and the best of all, a keewee handmade, numbered, sig item: (I really like this thing!) A very thoughtful item and package sent from keewee, I REALLY appreciate it. continued in next post.

  22. Geez... I feel like a loser. How could I not figure that out? I kept looking at the 'packer' part and scratching my head. I like it even more now! Thanks for posting that picture so everyone can see your handywork. Thanks again Dave!
