  1. You got 3 of them too! Please PM me your mailing address.
  2. Illinois Kentucky Mississippi Alabama You got 3 of them! Please PM me your mailing address.
  3. I've got 3 Road Trip coins to give to the first 3 people that can answer this question: Our trip initially took us as far east as Arkansas, Missouri and Iowa. We're gonna take a little side-trip the next couple of days to 4 other states. Name 3 of those states to win. Contest is over when we get to the room tonight.
  4. We are taking lots of pictures. Here's one that made us laugh: Huh? The entire trip will be logged through one of glennk721's Compass Rose coins, that I've been carrying for awhile, after we get back. You can browse through that coins logs now and see where it's already been. Didn't have much luck caching today, most finds were micros or too small to drop off any of the coins I had planned. Hard to believe all the open space we drove through and so many micros. Contest info to follow.
  5. Not many rest stop caches... I think there were 3 today, one of them in Texas being the most impressive rest stop I've ever seen. Easy exits? We're looking for any cache within one mile of the interstate. Most of the route 66 caches were close to that limit.
  6. We did get a find in Shamrock, seemed like a nice place. The entire day was through an area totally unfamiliar to us being from SoCal. Miles of nothing, then a small town. Ms PP is hanging in there (thanks for asking), she probably shouldn't have come, but she loves the places that caching takes her to. We saw things today that we NEVER would have seen if it wasn't for caching. I'll have to check out the Rand McNally Maps... thanks.
  7. All very good guesses, but it turns out we actually made it to Clinton, OK. Not that we drove straight through either... we did pick up 28 caches and left 5 coins behind. After checking-in in Clinton, I think we should have stopped in Elk City. Looks like there's no winner tonight.
  8. Tonights contest... tell me the name of the town that I end up spending the night in tomorrow night, September 30th. Couple of hints... if you know where we were last night, and you know we try to cover approximately 350 miles/day and I tell you that we went further than 350 today and will probably go less than 350 tomorrow, then all you need to know is it will be somewhere along I-40. The original plan was to go to Clinton, OK. I don't see that happening, I need more caches than miles now, but who knows. Same rules... no edits, one guess, one win.
  9. I threw that log in there to see if anybody would actually read the logs looking for the answer rather than going to my profile. Good catch.
  10. Hmmm... thanks for the idea. It really was as easy as it appeared this time. But they will get more difficult.
  11. This would be correct. I had hoped to slip a virtual in there to make it a tad bit tougher, but the Saloon got it the way of that. PM me your mailing address and I'll ship out your coin when I get home.
  12. Day Two. Worst caching day of my life. We eventually made it to our anticipated destination, way too late. I don't like doing road trips in the dark 'cause of what I might miss. Last year we drove along the Flaming Gorge at night, (long story) and never got to see it. Found a whopping 10 caches today. 10. Every road went in the wrong direction and some caches were missing. We had cached along this route last year so most had already been found by us, but then we ran into a lane closure just outside of Albuquerque (where the bulk of new-to-us caches were) that sent us on a 50 mile detour behind dozens of detoured trucks down a 2 lane road that we had made no pocket queries for... so no caches to even look for. But I did drop off 3 Road Trip coins... somehow. I expect tomorrow to be better... I'll be leaving copper coins in NM, TX and OK, in addition to some silver coins. Oh... and the laptop battery died while I tried to leave this post the first time. Errrr.
  13. I had planned on leaving approximately 60 Road Trip coins behind in caches on my current 10 day road trip, but that would leave many people east of the Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa area left out. Not the end of the world, but I figured I could give them (or anyone else) a chance to get a free coin here, in the forums, without even turning on their GPS's. I'll try to have a few different contests throughout my trip, motel internet connection dependent. If you'd like a free coin, probably an Antique Silver version, be the first to correctly tell me how many caches I found today, 9-28-07. First correct answer wins, no edits allowed, one entry only. As the contests continue, no duplicate winners allowed. The prize: Go.
  14. Road Trip is officially under way. I decided today to have several contests to give away extra coins so be on the look-out for those. Grabbed a few caches today and didn't leave many coins behind in California. As a CA native, in light of the current situation in my state and my desire to get out of it, I'm not gonna leave many coins there, consider it my own personal protest - that ought to show 'em The copper Road Trip coin that was designated for Arizona has been left behind, in addition to the other two finishes, in the hands of Haughton's Hunters (who responded with some cool coins himself) who met Ms. PP and I tonight for dinner in Williams, Arizona. We had a great time this evening and it was an awesome way to start our trip. We're looking forward to meeting other cachers and forum regulars along the way to exchange stories and coins. Oh... if you're ever in Williams, Arizona, stop in at the Typhoon Saloon... just remember to bring your own 'beverages'. Tomorrow... the remainder of Arizona and most of New Mexico.
  15. Let's hear 'em! I can add them to my list of bad ones. Looks like I'll be dropping off a few gold coins also, so be on the look-out for the word 'gold' also. Now I gotta make sure I don't accidentally throw in one of those words in a cache find log that doesn't get a coin left behind
  16. Well... there's always next year Since it's kinda difficult caching in the eastern half of the US when you live in the far western half of the US, I mapped out a tentative fly/drive road trip for next year. Starting in Pennsylvania, we can hit 17 states along the northern US on our way to Oregon with only Idaho being a state we've already been to, still about 3500 miles. Hmmm, time to get out my geocoin sketch pad...
  17. I think you're onto something here Craig. I may do that to a few of the silver coins, but not the copper coins. I expect them to find a home alongside other geocoins, which is okay, all I ask is that those who find and keep them just let me know who got 'em.
  18. She's not To make a long story short (after reviewing my post - I guess I didn't succeed), she went in yesterday for a follow-up appointment. She's had minor kidney pain since the surgeries and a fever almost daily. The stone was huge, the staghorn variety. The Dr. expected it would take 3 trips to the OR to get it all. First time in he got a huge piece of it (he was very proud - walked around the recovery & waiting rooms bragging about his accomplishment - I was happy for him), second time in he got all but 5% of it due to its difficult-to-reach location. The third trip to the OR was likely not needed as he thought he could medicate the remaining stone into a soft enough state that he could use ultrasound to break it up and have it 'pass' normally... after the road trip! Well... turns out that during the follow-up he found that the ureter appears to be blocked a bit (causing the pain and fever) by what little remains of the stone, he couldn't find it! As Jimi Hendrix penned, she's Stone Free! Unfortunately, he has to perform a minor procedure on MONDAY to remove the blockage - I won't even bother describing how that's done... you can use your imagination on that one. Dr. said she'd be foolish, with the progress she's made, to postpone the needed procedure to go hunting for 'little treasures'. He's got a point I guess So... we may now leave on the 28th, or worst case, 10-5. But we're still going!
  19. Glad you like the coin Trip has experienced a slight delay, see below. But the code word... yeah, the code word. I'm contemplating using keewee's idea regarding activating then adopting-out some of the coins. Either way, no copper coins will be activated, neither will most silver ones. The coins that are activated will be dropped into caches and logged in the 'normal' way. The unactivated coins will be dropped and no mention will be made of the drop other than the word 'silver' or 'copper' will be included somewhere in the log. The word 'coin' will never be mentioned. I'm looking forward to finding 13 different ways to use the word copper in a cache log
  20. I really don't expect many to become activated. They started out, as Steel City Babes pointed out, as swag. I then realized my investment would not increase if I made them trackable and sold a few, at least they COULD be activated, and travel, now. I'd like them to travel, but I won't lose any sleep if they don't. Yours is on its way
  21. We will be leaving on a Friday (see below for which Friday) and plan to stop in or around Williams that night. We usually don't have an itinerary, not a rigid one anyways. Anybody that's tried to reach a mileage goal AND cache at the same time knows most goals are pointless. We've tried to keep the miles per day down to 300, Williams being 333 from our start point, so I think that is obtainable. I'll keep you posted.
  22. We're gonna get to within 30 miles of Omaha, it will probably be on a Tuesday, but due to a minor delay, I just don't know which Tuesday yet.
  23. I've sent a couple of emails to FSM to update the title, but he seems to be MIA. Busy with life, no doubt.
  24. Just in case you wanted to know what the actual Antique Gold coin looks like... The colors are a bit washed out in this scan, they are actually the 'geocaching.com' colors. All orders paid for prior to this morning have shipped.
