  1. Also 6' 3", 225 lbs! "When the chips are down, the buffalo ate birds."
  2. I'd buy a goldenrod/black or a red/black. Thanks Jeremy! "When the chips are down, the buffalo ate birds."
  3. I, too, like Leatherman #1 as the informal and Gustaf #5 as the formal logo, but I could do without any words, for the same reasons that cachew nut so aptly stated. And I really like Mudbug #1 as a patch! One quibble: when the US flag is displayed vertically, as it is with Mudbug #1, etiquette dictates that the field of stars be on the top left (as it would be if displayed horizontally). Sorry to be so picky. You guys/gals are WAY talented! "When the chips are down, the buffalo ate birds."

  5. Thanks for doing this. I just ordered some for my GPS V and eTrex. Was getting tired of cutting them to fit from some cell-phone protectors I had. "When the chips are down, the buffalo ate birds."
  6. Yup, PewterZ, you got an earthstar there. Probably Astraus hygrometricus. Fairly common throughout North America from September through November. They are not edible. One interesting note: These earthstars are hard and leathery when dry but quickly revive when soaked in water. More than you care to know, I'm sure! "When the chips are down, the buffalo ate birds."

  10. Thank you Team Dragon and Wendy for clarifying what I originally wrote. The West does have liberal laws pertaining to gun use and ownership. Obviously, some people don't know that laws can be "liberal" even in conservative Bush country. And Criminal, sorry if I offended you re: my reply to the snakeshot reference. Perhaps you should have used a smiley if you were trying to be humorous. We can't interpret your feelings on words alone. That said, I still believe that anyone who discharges a firearm at a snake because they are frightened of it needs to be educated about snakes, ecology, and on the proper use of firearms and when to use them. But I will retract the word "idiot" in favor of "uneducated." There, now I'm PC. "When the chips are down, the buffalo ate birds."
  11. Am very happy with them. If you haven't got yours, e-mail Crusso. "When the chips are down, the buffalo ate birds."
  12. In most east coast states (western states are more "liberal" about this), discharging (or even brandishing) a firearm in a park or on public land is gonna get you in a heap of trouble, unless you're defending yourself against a human attacker. If a ranger or park patrol officer catches you (I guess the operative word is "catch"), you are gonna find out that the snake you blew into hamburger has (had!) as much right as you to be where he/she is (was!). Please don't overreact if you see a snake. Just move away from it...it's not going to chase you! Snakes WILL strike if cornered or if stepped on, but even most bites of this nature are "dry." A rattlesnake is not gonna waste its venom on something it can't eat...such as you! Just watch where you're going, and don't reach under logs without checking first. "When the chips are down, the buffalo ate birds."

  14. I like the way you guys (and gals) think! This would be (pardon my owl pun) a hoot! I think I'm gonna tell Mrs. Owl about this tonight. And the T-shirt idea appeals to my warped sense of humor, too! "When the chips are down, the buffalo ate birds."
  15. ...pocket or not. Just not in white! "When the chips are down, the buffalo ate birds."

    Geocoins?

That is one nifty coin! What a great idea for a collectible. I'm getting some personalized poker chips made, but now I think the coins are way cooler. Strix "When the chips are down, the buffalo are empty."
  17. Perhaps this belongs in another thread, but in caches here 'round the DC area, I recently found a condom (unused...thank God! [Daddy, what's this? Uh, ask your mother!]) and a packaged hemorrhoid suppository--one in a package made for two! Along with the customary McToys and the ubiquitous religious bookmarks/pamphlets and business keychains, I have found some quality stuff. I always try to leave worthwhile trade goodies...and I do remove scraps of paper/bandaids and other dreck that I find in caches. "When the chips are down, the buffalo are empty."

  19. a. no b. no c. and no. Bag the Keyspan, and get the IOGEAR model. I have had zero problems with it and VPC 5 under OS X. The Keyspan OS X driver won't help your problem go away. "When the chips are down, the buffalo are empty."
  20. Was looking for a cache recently along the length of a fallen tree when I saw an odd-looking mushroom. I got closer and reached for it (I like to identify mushrooms), and it moved! It was a copperhead. Perfectly camouflaged in the leaves. First one I have ever seen "in the wild." (They are fairly shy and secretive.) It was a more exciting find than the tupperware container full of McToys and religious pamphlets. I "took a powder" ... and left it alone. "When the chips are down, the buffalo are empty."

  24. I have the same IOGEAR adapter. Works great on my Mac G4 and iBook. Wish I could have said the same for the Keyspan adapter I had! "When the chips are down, the buffalo are empty."
