I learned about it a few years ago from the TV show "The Screensavers" back when TechTV was still around. Looked it up online, found a cache near me and went searching for it without a GPS. Amazingly, I found it, and proceeded to actually buy a Garmin Etrex a few weeks later. Been doing it ever since, though work and college have both gotten in the way of me doing as much as I'd like too!

I just had a quick question about the site and this looked like the correct forum... I hope I was interested in changing my username, but when I did I discovered that the username I wanted was *gasp* taken! Anyways, I did a search on the username and they haven't hidden/found any caches or for that matter even validated their account since Sept 2002 or so. Does the site purge inactive accounts at any point in time? I don't have to change my name I guess, but was just wondering.

There's quite a bit of cachers in the Roanoke area but that's a little far aways from the Abingdon area. We always considered ourselves Southwestern VA cachers though! We do have a yahoo community for SW VA cachers if you'd like to join in by the way: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/roanokevageocaching/ May not particularly be in your immediate area but it's always fun to talk about caching

Actually, I like the idea of Team Caching, basically what El Diablo said awhile ago. Course you guys were only talking about a NC Team Cache event and I'm from Roanoke, VA. But I'm pretty sure we can form a team here. Cache Hunter 1 is already interested, and my caching buddy would most likely be interested as well. I'm sure we could get together a team if we were seriously going to do this. Basically that means if we are going to do this, every city has to get together a team, and announce that they have a team on this page. You should probably limit the amount of cities to 4 (The ones that El Diablo had). Next, someone should make rules about doing this (El Diablo?), and then basically well... plan a date for doing it.
