  1. I would. I don't mind spending a whole day to find one cache or maybe two. However, this cache would take a few days. Considering I have about a 10 hour drive to reach it.
  2. It is true... When going to the gc.com I found the picture...
  3. Speaking of which, logging of caches on Sundays should be a Premium Member feature. If you don't pay to play, wait until Monday to log Nah, I say only premium members can log via TiVo on Sundays...

    Tivo Sdk?

Going on 5 years with mine, wouldn't know what to do without it...
  5. With a description like that, it says "A gun also lives here" Do you have any cold beer in the fridge?

    Tivo Sdk?

You are right, I doubt it would create more revenue for gc.com, but the geek factor is high. Besides, not everything has to make a ton of money, why not just do it because you can, and it would be cool...
  7. Heck, we almost missed our metting about that. The micro-haters group meets right after No Ma'am
  8. I tried that, but Keystone tried to charge me $5.00....
  9. Why not just list it in the first line of the cache description?
  10. Skip the interview, just go for the photo spread... How about an interview with on of the friendly mods/approvers to let us know what a day in their shoes is like. Of course I would read the interview of Jeremy...
  11. I highly doubt our friendly approvers where asleep at the wheel when approving this cache. I've seen other caches on the SGL being approved. So if there is a "ban" they haven't been told.
  12. Having been involved in DR, and DR testing, you have to realize that sometimes stuff happens. If this was the first time there was a problem after many similar events it is more important to find out what happened, and how to prevent it again. Sometimes just letting people know you are on top of things and maybe some Steelers playoff tickets will keep customers happy.
  13. I doubt their contracts are written such that they will have 100% availabilty. Sometimes major failures due to multiple minor failures happen to the best of us.
  14. To get the best use out of trekking poles, it is bested to use them both at the same time. Do I use them both? No, it is kind of hard to hold a GPSr and use both trekking poles. I am trying to force myself to use them both, but old habbits die hard.
  15. Yea, but as many people have shown, forum geocides don't always last.
  16. Ski Poles are an option. An option that I do not like. Ski poles do not collapse like trekking poles to. This is a very nice feature. You can collapse them and put them on your pack and you don't have to worry about catching trees and bushes when going bushwhacking. The ski poles that I have tried, are heavier then the trekiing poles that I havbe used. I won't comment on the merits of snake rangling with them. I'm sure it has been talked about before...
  17. I think greasing a frog is against the law in a few states. Or is the FCC regulating that too? Thanks MM for the directions WITH pictures...
  18. Basically the grips are angled forward to give your wrists a more natural position when using the poles. The poles I have are angled at 15 degrees...
  19. Trekking Poles are something that there are huge debates over. I own them and love them. Trekking poles take stress off your knees when hiking by transferring weight to them instead of your knees. I personally own a set of Leki's. They come with a lifetime warrenty, and Leki has been know to replace poles that have failed for any reason. I once read a story where someone bent one while taking a fall and Leki replaced it for free. I would highly recommend a positive angle on the handle. My wrists don't hurt after a long day using them because of this positive angle. Plus this helps you with a more fluid motion when hiking with them. Also, a cork handle feels good all day even if you are sweating. The cheaper foam handles get a little nasty feeling in my opinion. Anti-Shock is another feature that I highly recommend. Most trekking poles have interchangable baskets for use in winter activities. If you are a true follower of the LNT ethics then you will want to buy a rubber tip to go over the carbide tip that they come with. Tips on the Leki's are very easy to change if you break one. I never have and I am a little abusive to my poles. Now I don't fence with them. I've used carbon fiber poles and really didn't like them. I thought they where a little too light and didn't give me enough control of them when hiking. My recommendation is to find someone with a set and borrow them and try them out. You also might be able to test drive or rent a set from your local outfitter.
  20. They where locked for a reason. Can we lock this one too?
  21. Do I like the magazine, heck yea... They recently changed the format to include hikes in your region instead hikes from all over the US. I'm still up in the air about this one. But I do really enjoy the magazine.
  22. I subscribe to a decent amount of dead tree magazines. Of course I subscribe to Backpacker, but I read Time magazine religously. This doesn't count Network Computing, Redmound Magazine (the former MCP Magazine) and a two other's which I can not think of their names off the top of my head. These are work related. I used to get a few others, but I just don't have the time to read them all. There are a few other electronic version of magazines that I read regually too.
  23. *yawn* VCR's are so 1990... TiVo is the place to be... Congrats Danny....
  24. Ahh, actually there IS a South Park in Allegheny County in Pennsylvania. And it has some very fine caches in it...
