What's the best for the uk
dodgydaved replied to Chris & Kathryn's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I don't know about Memory Map, but I have got Anquet for Southern Britain. I find it great to get a print off of the location of a cache to take with me. I have tried to up and download to my eMap, but I keep forgetting to change from WGS 84 to OSGB whatever and back again, so I sometimes seem to be about a bit off. (Mind You, I always seem to be 70ft out according to people trying to find my caches!!!) So, in summary, I use it to support my eMap and Mapsource. I think it's pretty good, but then I'm the sort of sad git who spends hours just looking at maps for some reason!!! Cost, cheapest place I could find to getvit was a website called (I think) www.tracklogs.co.uk but that could be a bit wrong, just like my cache co-ords dodgydaved I'm NOT lost, I know exactly where I am, I'm here! -
dodgydaved herewith proclaims guidelines will be followed and there will be no dodgyness (well only if it is within the meaniong of the guidelines anyway! ) dodgydaved I'm NOT lost, I know exactly where I am, I'm here!

No rhetoric, it should not be needed. Tim & June, IMVHO, have always appeared to strive towards promoting all the positive aspects of the sport. Their constant insistence that the, so sensible, general guidelines adoptoed by GC.com are observed, as is pertinent to the UK. Their obvious regard/love for the Great British countryside and the preservation of same, and the way of life it supports. Their great sense of humour v a v bears and avatar. Their sensible and, to me at least, non-partisan moderation. They should not be treated in the way they appear to have been, no one should, but they also are a resource the community surely cannot afford to be without. Dave (hoping to sound totally undodgyish) dodgydaved I'm NOT lost, I know exactly where I am, I'm here!

Does your GPSr have any really annoying features?
dodgydaved replied to Bill D (wwh)'s topic in United Kingdom and Ireland

There's lucky, mine usually leads me to within 35ft and then I have to struggle........and it tends to tell people they are about 70feet away from me!....but then it's only an eMap. dodgydaved I'm NOT lost, I know exactly where I am, I'm here! -

I am proud to add my own congratulations to you two, and add my thanks for all you have done and no doubt will do to further the sport. I got my Mark III on Friday and the sticker is in the front of my windscreen. Take Care and ceep caching! Dave ps This posting comes from about 70 feet away from where it should! dodgydaved I'm NOT lost, I know exactly where I am, I'm here!

I have just come back from a cold and wet week on the beautiful and allegedly sunny Isle of Menorca. There are 2 caches on the island (for now anyway!) I searched very hard at the location of "Head Indian", and found nothing. This replicates the search I made in October. I also visited "Coves" and found the remains of the cache. The container I rescued and brought back to UK with me, the stash note in a punched-pocket was soaking and I binned it. I also found what I believe is the remains of Travel Bug "Palmable Geocache #14". I could not log it as grabbed because the dog-tag is missing and I could not enter the logging number. If any one has seen thsi TB before, and I think Chris and Maria have, I have posted a picture of it on the "Coves" cache log page. I think it belongs to LazyLeopard. If he reads this could he contact me via my profile page as I am sure this sad and lonely TB that persihed a long way from home in a foreign land should recieve a proper burial.......... dodgydaved I'm NOT lost, I know exactly where I am, I'm here!
