  1. I was once hunting a cache in the winter and came really close to stepping/falling into what I think was an abandoned septic tank with a missing cover approximately 20 X 20. The snow was pretty deep and had drifted over this hole, quite a booby trap. My foot landed just on the edge causing some of the drift to fall in exposing the opening, lucky me. This was a completely unforeseen, unexpected, unanticipated serious life or limb hazard to a cache seeker (the type of hazard I believe veit means to have a way to address). My first thoughts were how to warn others. Envisioning a family coming here with children running around, I caved in the rest of the drift and put something temporarily over the hole. Its been several years and I was a fairly new cacher at the time but I think I wrote about it in my log and posted a Needs Maintenance to the cache owner. In order to get a relatively quick response from a reviewer, if I ever encounter something like this again I plan to post a Needs Archived log with an explanation and photos. Depending on how a reviewer sees it, caches can get unarchived later. Cache site conditions can change anytime and I do hope management can come up with a practical solution. In the meantime I will not hesitate to listen to my gut feelings and conscience in using the Needs Archived log as a form of 911 call and I hope anyone finding a hidden hazard to life or limb at one of my caches will do the same.
  2. OK, so who owns the 2nd oldest cache in Kansas? Surprise
  3. Maybe after completion of the Exit work the Kansas DOT could be convinced to allow the erection of a permanent monument at the site constructed in a similar manner as the original Mingo. A fund raising campaign could be started to "Save Mingo". I know I would be willing to donate.
  4. I just discovered that this exact same situation has happened to me. I also found a friends email address on my blocked senders list along with noreply@geocaching.com. Hotmail users should check their lists.
  5. I figured out how to do it correctly now and it's working OK.
  6. I can't Delete a bookmark list and the Bulk Delete button doesn't work. Widows XP IE7.
  7. I had this problem today and found noreply@geocaching.com on my list of blocked mails. My guess is that I hit the junk button instead of the delete button and it added the address. Glad I found this thread and the previous post.
  8. On a travel bug page, the option to "Remove from watchlist" doesn't work for me. I get this message The item has already been removed or was not on your watch list, but the item is not removed from my list. I CAN stop watching it if I use the (remove) button that's provided on my list of watched items. Windows XP Professional and IE7.
  9. I got on the chat helpline today and they performed the update to version 2 for me, all is good now.
  10. I'd like to add that I gave them remote control of my computer and together we took a look at not only the problem but the solution as offered in this forum. Thanks everybody!
  11. Add me to the list with this problem. Windows XP Professional IE 7 The zoom level doesn't seem to matter, the problem appears after moving the map. It didn't happen with Norton Antivirus 2005 but I just switched to Norton Internet Security 2007. Things work fine if I turn off the Norton phishing protection
  12. I would also appreciate a copy. Thanks
  13. Thanks for the quick reply. I think I mixed it up with editing my own logs on others sites.
  14. I may be wrong because I'm new but it seemed like it was possible to edit someones log on your cache page. Now you can only delete or permanently encrypt. Am I wrong? I wanted to just remove a few words of someones post that I felt gave away to much information.
  15. We recently found a live black guinea pig running around in a metropark near a cache.
