  1. I'm not opposed to sending it to Brazil, depending on shipping costs, but I've already accepted an offer from ClarkBill. If that deal falls through I'll let you know and then we can try to work something out. Thanks for the interest!
  2. Hi ClarkBill, I will accept your offer of $150. I'll PM you my Paypal address.
  3. Hi, folks! I purchased this Oregon 700 brand new last year. I used it a couple of times but realized I prefer caching with my phone. This 700 is in like new condition. I also added a 32GB micro SD card. You can read more about the Oregon 700 from Garmin's website: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/550460 Price is $250 $200 $175 for the Oregon 700 and 32GB micro SD card. Includes shipping to USA. I accept Paypal.
  4. "Favorite caches" for me is a moving target. Sometimes its an otherwise mundane cache that takes me to a part of my city I've never noticed before. Other times it's just a quirky little nano container that makes me smile. It could be the first cache I see of a particular gadget type or I might consider a cache favorite worthy just because of the people I was with when I found it. I love the diversity of caches (and cachers!) out there and look forward seeing what my next favorite might be.
  5. I recently found a few caches with peanuts, still in the shell, in them. They were signed and dated by some cache finder. I thought that was kind of strange...and a violation since it's food.
  6. While I don't know for certain my hunch is that the ability to add a background image will come in time. I think we'll be seeing a lot of incremental updates on the website this summer according to some of the stuff I read in the Release Notes forum.
  7. When geocaching in In Elberta, Alabama there's no telling what you might find in the woods. Full scale replica of Stonehenge ("Bamahenge"), Roman columns, Knights, dinosaurs.....all sorts of fun stuff! You can read about Bamahenge HERE on Roadside America and find links to the other close by attractions.
  8. I use an iPhone 7 Plus, with the Cachly app, for most of my caching. I find it to be 'good enough' 99% of the time. Big problem for me is after a couple hours of caching my battery is close to dead. I thought about buying a battery case for my phone (and I still might) but instead chose to put that money towards a Garmin Oregon 700. I've taken the Garmin out with me a few times now and I see a new caching workflow forming for me: Use iPhone for all quick urban caching. For longer caching trips, or for caching in the woods, use iPhone for car navigation (like the poster above) and then use the Garmin to navigate to the cache. In all cases, I prefer to log caches via the phone rather than try to use the Geocaching app on the Garmin. The Garmin hasn't been a "game change" for me but it's been a nice, although expensive, addition to the toolbox.
  9. Greed? Really? Server hosting for 17 years of data is not cheap. Bandwidth to deliver that data to us in a timely manner is not cheap. Software developers, QA engineers, product managers, etc are not cheap. I don't see 'greed'. I see a company being fiscally responsible and doing what they need to do to ensure this game continues to live on and grow. At $30US a year ($2.50 a month) I feel like I get substantial bang for my buck.
  10. This geoTour just hit my radar a few days ago. My girlfriend and I are making plans to visit Columbus soon to see if we can find these caches...and maybe do some rafting while we are there. Hey, VisitColumbusGA, are the coins still available? :-)
  11. I just recently got back into the hobby too, after about 3 years away. My girlfriend and I were visiting my daughter and son-in-law in NC last week and while waiting outside for a table at a restaurant I downloaded the Geocaching app out of boredom. There was a cache about 300 ft away so we walked over to grab it. That's all it took. I'm hooked again and I think she might be too. We made sure to grab smilies in each state as we traveled back to AL later that day. Yesterday she introduced her 18yr old son to geocaching. I don't know why I stopped geocaching in the first place. Laziness I suppose. I'm trying to be more active these days so geocaching is great excuse to get off the couch and go outside.
  12. I just got into geocaching a couple of weeks ago. I've only experienced one power trail. It was a little over 2 miles in length and I think we found 13 out of 16 caches. It was just me and a buddy, and most of it was done at night. We had a blast. Good company, good exercise, and the challenge of finding micros in the trees at night. Would I want every cache to be like this? No, of course not. I appreciate the variety of the different caches I've found or read about.
  13. Sometimes my iPhone 4S leads me to within just a few feet of the cache. More often though, it gets me to within 20-30 feet. What's fun is when it starts bouncing back and forth between two points about 30 feet apart. I'm learning to just trust my geo-sense.
  14. Dan2099, I really like the creativity you are putting into these caches. The Batman puzzle looks like it would be a lot of fun to solve.
  15. Hi from Mobile, Alabama in the US. I've known about geocaching for a few years but I just got involved with it 8 days ago when I found out a new friend enjoyed the sport. So far I've found 49 caches. I've been to cool places in and around my town that I never knew existed. I've been questioned by security guards after finding a cache at night on a college campus and been chased out of the woods by ferocious biting flies. I've utilized my extensive ninja training to get to urban caches undetected and walked several miles of wooded bike paths to complete an 8-part multi-cache. I spend a lot of time in front of the computer and needed an excuse to get outdoors more often. I love the challenge of the hunt, enjoy the history and geography lessons some caches provide, and appreciate the beautiful scenery many caches lead me to. I'm currently using my iPhone 4S but hope to upgrade to a real GPS device at some point. I've already started buying cache containers and am planning my first hides. I may continue to lurk but I'll probably pop in and post every now and then.
