  1. I like to say Orangutan sometimes
  2. Thats Great! To bad we don't have any Franks around here. I want one. Hmm think I need to take a trip.
  3. We had one around here go missing. A guy claimed he found it in a park, saw that it was marked “Geocaching.com” and thought it was a net biz that had gone under. Said he drive around for a month with it in his van before he opened it up. When he realized what it was he registered an account and posted to the cache page what had happened, and that he would return it. The cache was on my todo list and after a couple months I sent him an email asking if he I put the cache back yet. He replied back with a nasty email saying he was going to put somewhere else and give the owner real orienteering directions to find it with no GPS …? Or something to that effect. I emailed him back and told him the geocaching was about using the GPS to find cache and that if he wanted to do orienteering he should check out letterboxing. He had nasty things to say about that if I recall correctly and needless to say the cache never reappered!
  4. Ok so far I have gotten 4 emails from folks that want these. I’ll give it a little while longer and see how much the sign shop wants for them.
  5. A couple months ago a buddy of mine and I were standing off trail comparing reading on our GPSs when this older guy walks by on the trail and says to us “Can you hear me now?”… Playing on the current Verizon wireless commercials… Now I could see how he could have been mistaken if we were holding eTrexs or some of the other GPSs that could pass off as Cell phones but we were both holding Garmin GPSIII+s. Then again while standing over a Triangulation station marker (virtual cache) a guy came up and flat out asked “is that a cell phone or a GPS” I replied “GPS” he says “oh are you entering that thing into your databank…”
  6. blah I have tried for some reason when I load images they dont't appear on my page. and when I do select an image that loads it dosen't show. I also tried changing "Charter Memeber" to somthing else. nada!

I'm asking what prices folks have found them for locally... as in not ordering them and having the shipped but rather walking into a store and hand picking.
  8. Boxes in question Just wondering what folks have been paying for these bad boys. Went in a nearby surplus store to pick up one of these today and it was marked “$14.88” I left! Another store that’s a little further away sells them for under $7, and I know there are places on the net that sell them for around $5. Just wondering what the norm is for finding them locally in stores, and the highest you have seen them marked.
  9. Just wondering if anyone one else has noticed their # of caches found being different on a cache by cache basis. For example my profile shows that I have 146 found 14 hidden. However on some cache logs it reads that I have 133, 142, 140 etc However the last cache I logged does read the correct #. I thought at first maybe it was listing the find # for example the first cache 1 second 2… but I checked the log entry for the first cache that I found and it showed I had 142 so there went that theory! Anyone one else notice this? Any reason why? Couple of examples “Henderson Falls” http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=8841 shows 134 “Stone Mountain” http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=30 shows 142 “Easy Micro-Stash at Charles McDaniel Park (coins)” http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=2286 shows 133 “Georgia Geocachers Association November 2002 Mtg.” http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=39713 shows 146
  10. Since there has only been 1 serious reply! I run BF Goodrich 31/10.50/R15 AT/KO’s. So far I have put about 15,000 miles on them great grip on pavement! But more importantly they are also good on… Sand Dirt Rocks Snow…??? Don’t know yet I bought them in March! Hope it snows soon!
  11. Would go great with my window decal! The GGA Also has a similar one. I have been waitng to se one on a GA tag before I order one to see if it covers the County/ month/ and year decals on our tags.
  12. Wednesday is usually cache-hunting day for me. Today I went out and found 3, and I usually wait till I'm at work to log them since the 10pm - 8am shift is so slow... sometimes dead. So I typed up my first log in MS Word then went to log it. I selected the cache the hit "log your visit" and was redirected to "my cache page" with this message at the top in red. "Please Note! Your account has not been validated by email. Click here to send a validation email to your account to complete your registration. Or, if you have your validation code, click here to validate your account." I haven't changed any info in my profile in well over a month so why would I be getting this message? Anyone else randomly get this today? I did click the link to get the validation code but it went to my home email, which I can't check, from work. No big deal, I can just type up my log entries then save them or email them to myself and post them when I get home. Only problem is I left a travel bug and I met another Cacher at the cache and he took the bug with him after I left it and has already tried to register that he has it... but he can't since I haven't electronically dropped it off. DOH! Ok and when I tried to post this last night I found that I can't Post to the Forums either!
  13. I actually proposed the Idea to Jeremy about selling these, started a topic and everything. I think it was titled something along the lines of, how about a decal for those of us with tinted windows? Last September or October of 01. Several People liked the idea so with emailed permission from Jeremy I had 4, 26” wide decals made for a total of $60 out of my pocket. I even offered to send Jeremy one for free but he never replied with his address, so I sold the other 3 for $15 each. I had 4 more made several months later, sold 1, put 2 in new caches of mine, and have one left to take to a new sign shop to have it duplicated new time I order more. Since the website states in the logo use section “The Groundspeak Geocaching Logos may be used only on non-commercial items. These items may include, but are not limited to shirts, hats, coins, logbooks, stickers and cache containers. If the lifetime use of the design is less than 25 units, you may consider permission automatically granted.” Since I have currently made 8 of them, that leaves 16 more total I could have made without getting formal permission (which should not be a problem). I suppose I could see how many folks are interested and get a price quote on them…
  14. Wow $12, does that include processing? I usually buy the 2 pack for $10 or so at Target. How about an option on whether or not to have the preprinted border. Or even better strike up a deal with a photo finishing service. Have each camera come with a mailing box, you pay the postage to send it off and they send you back your prints and a CD so you can easily post the pics online. Make it all one price for the camera and the developing!
  15. All right another X owner!! Congrats on your purchase Be sure to check out www.xterraownersclub.com !! Lots of local Xterra clubs in your area. I am a senior member of the SouthEast Xterra Club (SEXC) I have a 2001 Salsa XE 4x4. Here is the decal I hade made for the back of my X with Jeremy’s Permission, also made a couple extras and sold them to other Cachers at cost.
  16. did this one several months ago when tis was posted on another forum
  17. Wow that has got to be a record for bringing back a dead topic! 1 year 5 days!
  18. I have the CamelBak Blowfish. It easily fits a long pair of pants, bag of trade goods and a video camera along with the 100 Oz of water. Here is the Smokey the Bear Travel bug hanging out in the pocket. I got mine at www.jensonusa.com their prices on the Camelbaks are the best I have found yet aside from eBay. I had planned to pay about $90 for the one I wanted but since it was only $59 on their site I was able to get it and a M.U.L.E. for Christine for only $57. Her bladder leaked the first time we filled it, but it didn’t the second time we used it. Strange but we aren’t complaining. We also don’t have any problems with the taste either, we clean the out with soap and water every now and then and we keep the bladders in the freezer at home. Mule Blowfish

  22. I spent over 3 months working on a Multistage and actually had left a dummy container in the final location just to see if anyone would take it. It was to be hidden in a rather unique manner but left out in the open plainly visible if you looked in the right spot. When I was almost done and was working on typing up the text for the cache page I noticed that a new cache had just popped up in the same park and by the description it sounded like it was in the same area. I entered the cords real quick and then used the reference feature to check and see how far it was from my cache. Yup 250’ away!! Went out that morning when I got off work (10pm – 8am shift) to check and see if my cache was visible in any way to or from the new cache. Everything was cool, woods were dense enough that it was not a problem. However occasionally people post in cache logs about how close they are. I did email the owner about what happened. He was oblivious that there was even a first cache in that park on the other side of the road that had been placed over a year prior. I invited him to find my first cache as well as the new one when it was posted (total caches in the park, 3), unfortunately it seems he was one of those “gee whiz” cachers who place a cache then never go find any and vanish after a few weeks.
  23. Just saw a cool Jeep commercial this evening. Story line goes: Guy and girl in a restaurant/bar checking each other out. Girl walks by and drops a wadded up napkin on the floor next to the guy as she is leaving. Guy picks it up and reads it. Then it shows the guy in a red Jeep pulling up next to a yellow jeep on a mountain road with the girl standing there in front of it. Then the narrator says something along the lines of, Jeep owners speak in a different language. Then shows the napkin with Lat/Long #’s written on it. Pretty cool idea! Next time I see it I’ll try to get the #s and see where it is.
  24. Pipedreamer, are you even a cacher? Your profile shows you registered in May 2002 and you have 0 finds and 0 hides… Do you not post finds? Do you have another Username in which you use to log hides/finds? Or are you just a spectator whining from the peanut gallery?
