  1. Well currently the oldest cache is 2 years and 6 months old. Out of my 17 caches, my oldest has sat almost trouble free for 2 years and 1 month (someone decided to relocate it for me at one point), the youngest is just over a month old. I had one cache stolen after less than a month, it was archived, and another stolen just over a year. A kind cacher in the area replaced that one though. The rest have been sitting pretty. This Isn't rocket science...
  2. Does it look like this? if it does it was the "mascot" for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. It was known as What's it ... or was it whatizit? Not sure but they help a contest to name it and it was eventually named "Izzy" This Isn't rocket science...

An example would be that you would find a cache, email the hider with the information and describe the non-existent (physically) travel bug. You would then take ownership, virtually, and move it along. Virtually!! I think that it's time that we take this game to the next level. Who's with me?? Matt, I don't get it...??? Sorry whats even funnier, search nearby caches on that one. There is a cache a half mile away on the same island that had been there 9 months when this one was placed. It hasn't ever been logged either not even by the placers of this one... 2 Caches on one island, both half a mile apart. This Isn't rocket science...
  5. One thing that camera might be good for would be incase of an accident. Keep it in your glove box and if you have an accident you have a digital camera at the ready for documentation. Not sure how long the battery last though when not in use. I carry my Reagular digital camrea everywhere for that purpose. I've had a a Nikon Coolpix775 2.1 MP for almost a year now... but I've had to send it back to be repaired twice under warranty! This Isn't rocket science...
  6. I know there was a link posted by one of the Admins sometime back that would take you to a photo album of all the photos uploaded with cache logs. Anyone know what the link was? This Isn't rocket science...

Nope not mine, saw it posted on another forum I visit. Hehe funny though... but no I would never own a vehicle that says "Not intended for offroad use" in the owners manual. 8. At least it didnt jump on your car from an over pass... I want to know how hi put it in "park" This Isn't rocket science...
  9. OK here is an example of what im talking about… Found this while looking through logs of caches I have visited This is the found log… the whole found log! I swapped some of the #s for X to keep the guy anonymous. "my garmin 48 showed coords as N XX° X.335 W 08X° X.152 instead of N XX° X.335 W 08X° X.151" This Isn't rocket science...

  11. If it were a festival of lights (assuming its one of those attractions you drive through or walk through to look at lights during the Christmas season) why would someone go during the day? This Isn't rocket science...
  12. None of those option fit why im not there. I work every Monday night! This Isn't rocket science...
  13. I am familiar with that cache and I was wondering when it would be archived. Near the covered bridge there was a nature trail, and of course off that trail was the cache. Well it was posted back in July that the area was now closed to the public, apparently it was a privately owned piece of land. Since it was posted only one cacher dared to go in and hunt the cache. The owner of the cache has been inactive for well over a year and did nothing to remove or archive the cache. The bridge itself would make a nice virtual if you are into that sort of thing. At this point I’m thinking “free ammo can” for somebody if the owner doesn’t retrieve it. It’s a neat bridge, we drove through it several times just to listen to the “thunka thunka” sounds the tires make.
  14. Do some people not understand that GPS is not exact? Anyone else get logs on their caches from people saying the cords were off by X number of feet? I have noticed on some of my caches as well as others in the area. Now I could understand if they were getting readings of 50 70 90 or 100+ feet away that maybe the owner should go out and check. I’m talking about people that say the cords are off by 10, 20, or 30 feet or so. I’ve had a Cacher actually say that my cords are off then proceed to post the “correct” cords according to their super perfect GPS (can you read my sarcasm here?) and when you type in these “correct” cords they are a whole 5’ from the posted ones. Do these people not understand that these thing are not exact and depending on you GPS’s capabilities (WAAS and such) we are all not going to get the same reading every time? If I find a cache and its between 1-50’ on my non WAAS GPS, I consider the cords to be good cords. This Isn't rocket science...
  15. ahh good enough not as small as another iwas trying for but better This Isn't rocket science...

  19. quote:Originally posted by Ramness570:We had one around here go missing. A guy claimed he found it in a park, saw that it was marked “Geocaching.com” and thought it was a net biz that had gone under. Said he drive around for a month with it in his van before he opened it up. When he realized what it was he registered an account and posted to the cache page what had happened, and that he would return it. The cache was on my todo list and after a couple months I sent him an email asking if he I put the cache back yet. He replied back with a nasty email saying he was going to put somewhere else and give the owner real orienteering directions to find it with no GPS …? Or something to that effect. I emailed him back and told him the geocaching was about using the GPS to find cache and that if he wanted to do orienteering he should check out letterboxing. He had nasty things to say about that if I recall correctly and needless to say the cache never reappered! Found the emails Here is the log on the cache page. "Never heard of this geocaching business. I still managed to find the thing. Soggy cacoon video tape. Well the label says cacoon maybe something better inside... It's been in the back of my van all week. Finally got around to checking out what this 'geocaching.com' on the cooler was. I had thought, yet another failed dot com building datacaching products for the www. Now I see it's a game. I do not own a GPS. Do not know when I'll be back at the park. If someone else wants to hide, they are welcome to come pick it up. tongaloa@atl.org or I can hide some time next week. Will make it easy if I use use lat lon off a sectional." Original email i sent him 2 months later "do you still have the chastains cooler cache?" a month later I get... "It's been back for many months. I hid in the woods and left instructions. I emailed a couple of guys who responded to me initially with these instructions as well. They require being able to follow a REAL MAP as I've no GPS toys." My reply "Where are the instructions? Geocaching is a GPS hunt, maps are not required. That is how the game works. If you want to use maps to find caches try letterboxing. If you don't have a GPS why not just put the game piece back where you found it?" His reply 1 month later (slightly edited) "You're welcome, @$$hole!"
  20. Why not offer a wearable one? Turn it on when you go hiking or such?
  21. Is this really a problem that’s so bad that you would actually unlace your shoes, spray the laces with cooking spray and then relace the greasy laces? Put them in the litter box?
