  1. I'm not seeing a complaint. Something happened that the OP wasn't expecting, and they're just wondering why it happened. AFAICT, the reviewer saw that the OP's club's caches were looking like being a larger series, so they changed the way they were handling the caches. It just goes to show that if you plan on submitting more than a few caches in a short period of time, it would be best to get in touch with the reviewer beforehand to see how they would prefer things to be done (ie. submitted in small batches, all at once, etc.). And it's even in the guidelines! Very appropriate for August.... very crazy month. http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#samedaypublication
  2. See, if they were just a society of cachers following the geo-teachings of Clan Riffster I think I could get behind that. This made me spit coffee. Match made in heaven . *PS He used the word elitist.
  3. Grumpy old-timer going after all souvenirs here!
  4. As I've said many times locally, their past local antics (two+ years ago, which I'm certainly not going to relate here, but DantonioG alludes to) which were off putting in the past have largely vanished. Nice to see them get attention for the right reasons; fun events and pro-quality. To nthackers point, I've yet to see a caching social group in any state that isn't welcoming.
  5. Yes. Plus I'd also add in the fact they hold some fun local events. Any social-based caching group which promotes positive interactions, not negative (aka bullying, "my way is the only way") is a good thing, IMO.
  6. It's Opie looking up in wonder at how many caches are listed here.
  7. Place a tiny piece of duct tape over that highly obtrusive and offensive Souvenirs tab.
  8. I like. Thanks for a little puff of fresh air!
  9. OP: Nope. I just see as an interesting little side game, and a nice mini challenge. Kinda fun to see so many folks up in arms about it though.
  10. I would love this to be done for quite a few Challenge caches..
  11. Where's the "like" button on this suggestion?
  12. If you want buttons and paperless, get a Garmin 62s.
  13. As much as we hate those groups, it's just like sites that provide final coordinates to people for difficult puzzle caches. Agree, very much so. But at least they get off their bum to find the cache.
  14. At least spell Carolina right. I'd calm down, mark it as missing, and hope to be pleasantly surprised one day.
  15. Piling onto the "it's OK to log" and that's always been the old school way
  16. That is how we do it when the grandsons cache with us and find a premium cache Yup...or share the log page url with the non-PMO cacher. This is the Official "backdoor" Groundspeak-approved Method © in the absence of any Family PMO account.
  17. No thanks. There's enough "in your face" tracking / overshare from Facebook, Foursquare etc. I kinda like how it is, you can choose to share your logs on Facebook. I also like the Friends feature as is... its useful to use the "logbook" feature on the website and see who of your friends have found a cache if you need help. C:Geo can also tell you which of your friends have found the cache.
  18. Multiple facebook groups exist where codes are shared en masse. It's a very hard thing to control, but hopefully the TB Owner can decide per case.
  19. The Guideline has always been 528 ft or 0.10 miles or 161 m. as far as I know. It would be a very difficult thing to change and then change back. The uproar would be deafening. The confusion and resulting chaos would be mind-boggling. B. The Guidelines used to state that 528' was preferred in most cases, and folks were sometimes given exceptions. Even before that, there was no proximity guideline. As you linked, the distance is now mandatory.
  20. Submit it, and you will have your answer.
  21. I was asked the same question during an interview for an outdoors print magazine this week. I had to think.. I replied, "You know, for some it's a hobby...some a sport...some definitely an obsession or even a lifestyle". It's kinda hard to define generally.
