  1. In passing at the Pizza event she touched me on the shoulder, smiled sweetly and said Hello Harriet! That must have been when it happened.
  2. I have had that cold! Only I was infected at the WSGA pizza event by FrodoB... its a conspiracy.
  3. Congrats GeoBells! And Congrats Celtic Cacher Clan on 1200!! Somehow I missed your 1000, a belated congrats!
  4. This might be a little far for you. We have an event coming up at Wallace Falls. Event Page Bring your own breakfast and come chit chat with cachers. Often times people meet up in the am here to do some caching. I am going to go up Wallace Falls, slowly, I am kinda slow and 4 kids of my own that will be in tow and would love some slow company. Some are fast hikers and I am sure they would love to have a fast hiker along. Others meet up and then find caches in town or go home before the family wakes up. We would LOVE to have you, and help you with any questions you might have!

  6. Are any of these events near you? One of the best ways to get help with your gadget and find a caching bud is to go to an event. When you log your will attend mention that you are new to the game and ask if anybody might take you along for pre/post caching. Trust me cachers are always looking for reasons to go caching, even if its revisiting some they have already found to help somebody out.
  7. GC16BH3 It's not easy being green has been disabled for a while, you might want to check with the owner to see if its going to be active for the cache machine. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...55-cccdd5f4a8f3
  8. I am really excited to go!! Is there a current bookmark of the route, or should I build my own?
  9. I really appreciate you keeping this calendar updated Shop! When I was planning my event the first thing I looked at was the NW event calendar.
  10. I use search plugins to navigate around GC easier, keyword, GC #, zip code. I use firefox, I don't know if they work with any other browser. http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.h...name=geocaching
  11. After talking to people MUCH MUCH smarter than me. I have decided that going the back way in probably isn't the best idea. So instead after the event I am going to start at the trailhead in the state park, and go up to Hiking Wallace. Taking the DNR road up to the Greg Ball trail to the woody trail. Allanon pointed out that the gates don't open until 8 Am so the event itself is being bumped to 8am to 9:30 or whenever you get done having fun! Sorry for the confusion!!
  12. YaY!! We are officially Waking up at Wallace! If anybody wants to join me in car shuffling after the event I would be really happy! I have talked to forty and eight. He says that its about 4 1/2 miles or so to the lake, and then downhill to the state park. It will be the most mileage we have done, but most of the miles will be down hill from the lake to the park. The elevation gain is 1200 feet but its stretched out over 4 miles so you won't even notice it! If I can get my BIG bahookey there I know anybody can. I may be slow but I am going to get there! Also we are doing the pokiest thing of all this month. Stich and *itching I am not a knitter so if just want to do the latter part of the event you are welcome to join me!
  13. Yup! The event listing has been published. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...7d-2fa4bb6f6dcb I hope to see you there. It would be fun to finally put a name to the face.
  14. Save the date! October 18th the Pokey's are tenatively scheduled to have a traditional brown bag breakfast event at Wallace Falls State Park. Back to morning coffee, story swapping, travel bug trading and a sneak out and grab a cache before the family wakes up. Afterwards if you are interested I am going to try to find somebody who will do the car shuffle. Parking at Half the Distance to Wallace GC1CD7H and wandering down to the State Park and hopefully somebody can drive me back up to get my car! According to JB's log it was paved all the way. I am hoping the leaves will be changing, and there will be a color show!
  15. Sweetcheeks you rock! I can't believe you guys have cached every day this year! Huge congrats to both of you!
  16. I understand your wanting people to know about cool caches. Why not start a separate forum thread about cool NW caches. People can post the caches and why they think its so cool. That way people can know about great caches but aren't limited by the date placed as on the WSGA cache of the month, or having to worry about popularity contest. And it would be great to see the cool pictures people would post when they find a cache with an awesome view.
  17. That is the coolest function! Thanks a ton for sharing it!! It works perfect with firefox, so cool and so easy to use!
  18. When you place your SAR navigation course make sure to write the cords inside the cache. It helped save some Mount Hood hikers in the past. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=182571
  19. I am so there!! Let me know if you need any help. I would love to help out!
  20. There are 3 earthcaches on your way there. 2 stop and learns and one easy hike. Ellensburg Formation Lahars Folded Mountains and Fiery Floods Trees of Stone Earthcache There are caches around each of Earthcaches, Trees of Stone has a virutual on the trail where its still paved if you don't want to go the whole distance of the trail. The trail is in good shape. My herd and I walked it in flip flops, although if I had to do it again I would have worn sneakers. Edit: Fiery Floods is a little off I-90 but, driving the Canyon Road is incredibly beautiful. All sorts of cool stuff to look at and there are caches all along the road.
  21. Are you talking about the Guler Ice Caves? You might want to check out PNWAdmin's profile regarding placing caches. There is lots of helpful info on where caches are and are not allowed.
  22. I would definitely go with a Garmin. Besides being good units, Garmin is known for their EXCELLENT customer service. Garmin's call center for customer service and technical support is in the USA and not outsourced overseas. Which means when you call them, you can clearly communicate your needs. I recently sent back my Garmin Colorado, I had dropped it in a puddle and somehow water got into it. I decided to email customer service instead of calling them on the phone. I got the same level of great service via email as I have in the past over the phone. They sent me back a brand new in the box Colorado, I am so happy! I have owned 4 Garmin's and one spare Magellan. Although there was some glitches with the Colorado in the beginning they have communicated and done their best to fix things, and they offer updates regularly for their products that aren't discontinued. I own a Garmin IQUE and they still supported it for many years after it was discontinued. My Magellan 210 didn't get turned on when the waas satelites were rearranged (or something like that) so my Magellan 210 does not get WAAS. Calling customer service was a JOKE! There are no updates so I can get waas, basically I am now the owner of a gps that is consistently 50-100 feet off. Thats the way its going to be forever. When you spend a bunch of cache on a unit, you want to be taken care of when problems come up.
  23. One of my FAVORITE earthcaches is at a historical site http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...a1-b62f9baae148 That place is awesome! They have recreated the cabins and have people inside them dressed in character and give speaches and describe what they did and why/how they did it that way. It was fun all around and I felt slightly guilty I didn't have my family with me to enjoy the fun.
  24. I found 19 caches in Bermuda http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?country_id=27 Your best bet to find "safe" caches is to read the logs. The Virtuals look like they are in touristy areas. But I would load all 19 into my gps. You never know where you are going to be and if you get home and find out that a cache was in a park that you had lunch at randomly you are going to kick yourself
