  1. One minute I have smilies for my finds. The next no smilies. Sort it out Lackies!!!!
  2. Every time I log a cache find I get that stupid annoying green thing counting up points to my next favourite. [edited]. It's getting on my nerves. Is this a game for 6 year olds or what!!
  3. I'd learn to walk, even crawl along, before running.
  4. I just tested it at work on their IE7 computers. No 's is good for me. I've already found it so don't want to see it again. BUT....it showed at least one cache that I had already found. And if you return to the original map it isn't the original map at all. Just the usual map of Jeremy World. Half finished is a more polite way of putting it. But I do agree with Rutson's viewpoint.
  5. Like any fun sport, as soon as it become bigger then the hierarchy begin to see $$$'s. Same with this hobby. So if there is any dilution of quality over quantity you must blame the founding fathers. I will. I will also walk away without any qualms.
  6. I think you'll not be alone. Quantity over Rarity will be a vital question.
  7. My local Snappy Snaps has an even better deal. Get one 35mm micro - get another 30 free.
  8. If the owner had corrected the coords too, then you'd have one more find under your belt.
  9. That is a very recent change. I would reckon on a high percentage of those caches having been maintained already, BUT, still have the "needs maintenance" attribute. I've probably got one or two myself. If you fancy checking for me I'd be most appreciative. My bold, No it's not!! It has 'always' been the case that to remove the needs maintenance attribute that you need to post a owner maintenance log. Yes and No. Having given some thought on this I think this is where I have been mistaken. As I have in the past, deleted the "needs maintenance" icon BEFORE writing the "owner maintenance" log. Last time I tried this, the other day I was unable to remove the icon. I had to post a owner M log to remove it. BUT....I have just looked at my cache GC1K8HZ. A needs M log was placed on 09 Jan. I disable it. Then I enable it on the 12th without posting an owner M log. So the icon remains. I have just gone into the attributes and I am able to remove the icon manually. Anyone else fancy clarifying the situation.
  10. I own 1 complete set. I took the trouble to obtain these coins legally. If I so wished, I'd have no qualms about selling them wherever I wish. I'm living the British Dream set up in the 80's. Sad but true! PS...surely Garmin were marketing their products rather than the game.

  12. Keep an eye on the GPS Garage Sale forum on this site. Someone is bound to sell a used Oregon for the price of a case of "Bud"
  13. Thanks guys. I'll out the maps. Google is a wonderful thing.
  14. A fun Central London cache is Goldpot's GC2C1NN. A clever cache worthy of the hunt. It's worth paying $30 to become a Premium member just for this one alone.
  15. We're off to Arizona in March for a caching/sightseeing vacation/holiday. (not as much caching as I would like though) Any ideas on maps that'll show streets and trails? Routable not needed. Thanks in advance.
  16. I checked again last night. The gmapsupp.img was loaded on the "Garmin" file. I did load the file onto sd card using a card reader. I'll try loading it onto the sd card with the gps connected instead. in answer to your question above.... Having looked at the Map Setup list on the gps. It only showed the 2 internal maps enable/disable It did not show any OSM map option at all. I know I'll get there in the ned, but...boy! As a workaround if you need the map urgently when you connect the GPS to the PC you could probably put the map on the unit itself rather than the card. This is how I operate for the OSM map. It goes in the same garmin folder. If there is already a map of the same name the you can rename one of them. Hi fellow cachers. I have good news, but not quite sure how. I deleted the Garmin folder on the card. I down loaded the same TT zip file, changed name to gmapsupp.img Created a new Garmin folder. Added the .img file. Hey presto! Map shows the OSM enabled. Local cache shows all roads as before. As this is a science of sorts, there must have been something not quite right. But it escapes me. my next step was to try to upload onto the gps direct. Thanks all of you for your considerate and considerable help. I'll try to be nice to you in the UK forums in the future. I cannot promise though.
  17. Virtuals can be great. But don't bring them back. There are so many new cachers out there now that I think we'd be inundated with lame ones. And probably bad coords too, if the amount of phone cachers are as high as I presume**. **my presumption is a total guess.

  19. "Micro Hell" would be better Ah yes. But since your micro count is almost as high as your small count I think you should be grateful for "micro mercies" PS Thanks GC.com for the new stats info for every user. I shall be watching others anti micro comments with extreme vigour.
  20. Thanks for the replies. I'll double check your answers.
  21. I have my 2GB card loaded with TalkyToaster's fine UK mapping 1've been using my SD card for 18 Months without trouble. 2 weeks ago it failed to show the mapping even though I had changed nothing at all. I bought a new sd card, downloaded new and old maps. The pc recognises the maps in a card reader. The sd card shows the maps and correct drive when hooked up via the Oregon to the pc. I even downloaded the latest Oregon firmware...no joy! Is it a fault with the Oregon? Any advise is most welcome.
  22. My least favourite is a virtual. It's been there since I started caching. And it's close enough to grab at lunchtime. But I refuse to pay to go into a church.
  23. the white film cannisters are good better, the black and grey ones toss out. burn I have plenty of 35mm film cans hidden in London. They are very acceptable containers. The log usually gets damp if a finder doesn't close the lid properly or someone steals the plastic ziplock bag. But the real key to these caches is...I maintain them if any problems. Maintenance is the key.
