  1. I need to get a map of Costa Rica for my Colorado. What map do I need to buy? Can I get topo and navigator?
  2. I am a premium member. I installed the plug in and the test shows it is installed correctly. The problem I have been having is that only about a third of the caches I sent actually loaded on my unit. Some would load if I continued to send them multiple times. I did the pocket query so I loaded up a good amount. It just seems random that some will load individually and some will not.
  3. Thanks - All I did was unzip it and put it into the GPX folder. No additional program needed:) Do you think I have a software problem that doesn't let the "send to GPS" feature work for individual caches.? I reinstalled my software update and plug in.
  4. I know I should know more about this - but I can't find any directions on how to do a pocket query. Is this a PC thing? I was so thrilled to just click each one - but if there's a way to batch it terrific! Is there any reason that they won't transfer when I click them? Some I have tried to send to GPS over 20 times with no success. Some work after 3 or 4 tries.
  5. So you are saying that I need to close the communicator window each time to use the sent to GPS feature? I am a premium member - I'm on a Mac. What do I need to do to send batches or is it even possible on a Mac?
  6. I noticed this weekend that only some of the cache files that I clicked through actually loaded onto my Colorado. I tried loading them on again this morning and some of them take several tries to load - I am using the send to GPS button. I have downloaded the plug-in and updated the unit's software - What am I doing wrong? Is there any way to do these in batches? The caches that made it onto the unit worked like a dream.
  7. I got my 400t this week. I've had an Explorist and a Crossover. The map on the 400t is a huge improvement. As a Mac user it's awesome to have a unit that updates, downloads and functions intuitively on my machine. Sending caches directly to the unit is so simple. Paperless caching means I can just head out and cache anytime. I found a couple today on my first run. I noticed that it's important to remember to calibrate the compass after a battery change. I almost bought a Triton. I love my Colorado almost as much as my iPhone:)
  8. You can geocache with the Magellan Crossover. Unfortunately they still don't have topo maps available. The interface is clumlnky- I have a Crossover and just recently bought a handheld that is better suited to caching.
  9. I'm on a Mac so I had to borrow a PC laptop to get set. The conversion software only works with the geocaching.com file format that requires the paid membership. I downloaded about 30 at a time and converted them on the PC. Much faster than manual. I had a service rep talk me through it - it was definitely NOT straight forward. I already had an Explorist 500 so I had the topo software. Unfortunately it doesn't work with the Crossover. So I load the cache files onto both and depend on the little Explorist for detail.
  10. I've had mine since it was first introduced. Love it for driving. It's a little complicated to transfer cache files, you have to convert them first. The biggest dissapointment is that there are still no topo maps availabe and the topo basemap is not adequately detailed. Also, it's really not waterproof enough for serious trail or marine use. If you put it in a dry box it's bulky and you can't operate the touchscreen. Other than that it's great:) Seriously, had I not purchased it I would never have known how much I would use a streets GPS.
  11. I bought a Crossover last week - You can download GPX files but you have to use their converter to load them - LOC files don't work. The Magellan techs recommend making poi's "on the fly" - but if you ask enough questions they will guide you through the process of getting the files into the outdoor section. Long story short - you can load them but you have to put them into your address book before you can access them in your outdoor navigational screens. I love the compass and use the Nav much more than I thought I would. The tech told me that updates are coming that will make it simpler to use the outdoor nave screens with downloads. Also - no topo maps are available yet - the Mapsend 3-D is not compatible. The topo map installed is pretty detailed - but it does not contain a lot of poi info. The Tech said that maps should be available preloaded on SD cards withing a couple of months. I plan to find some caches this weekend and will post on my results.
  12. Can you tell me how you use yours on a Mac - I bought a used PC laptop because I couldn't figure out how to use it with my Macs.
