  3. However, I do belive that a BENCHMARK is SUPPOSED to be very easily seen/found (light house, courthouse, church) There should be at least 2 in an area with some line of site. This would be a starting point for ANYONE to locate an area (like my property that the neighbors have a cattle graizing on :-)). A Land Boundry Marker (LBM) would be placed by any organization that has the authority to do so, like the U.S. gov, State, County and as well as private survayors. Although I have no idea what I'm talking about. Now if I can only find that rock I dropped into the shag carpet.

  6. Most "Free" Websites do not allow foul linking to items on there servers ie: "images,docs,exe,zip...." only the base htm,html,css,dhtml...... try coping and then uploading your image to your profile page (need to upgrade you subscript to upload an image file i think) So, I pissed someone off again did eye?
  7. I too have this glitch. My fix is to Hit the back button on yer browser and click the topic again. So, I pissed someone off again did eye?
  8. Just putting forth my own findings: If you have an active way point and you switch to compass mode (using the "fluxgate") the compass arrow will point to your destination. this mignt not change even if the unit is powered down. I have not tried to change the compass setting to "GPS course" (why did I buy it?)to see if it would make a difference. First. Make sure you have no active waypoints or routes. So, I pissed someone off again did eye?
  9. Spray the repellant onto a cloth first then wipe your face (watch the eyes) you can spray but wiping is much more thorogh. Eye, Ham, We, Todd, Did Sofa, King, We, Todd, Did

  11. No matter what brand you find get the one with the highest Percent of DEET or is it DEAT? If you know of some one in the NTL GUARD you will get the highest. The higher the deet the hotter it feels but it is the best chemical known yet to repel mosquitos. I live in S/W Florida and I know this is a fact Eye, Ham, We, Todd, Did Sofa, King, We, Todd, Did
  12. Nice find "Pneumatic", I dont know who would be exactly correct on this. I do know that the #'s I posted are directly from the Cebo WebSite, and they dont say if that is the exact center of the dish or the final point for the RF reception (which could be at any point below the dish itself N/S - E/W ) (the image above shows that the true center is off from the reflectors LNB? by several feet if not by the tens) Also, I notice that if using a SAT image that the image in view is very rarely dead nuts over head on the object, so in doing so I dont think that mapping S/W will compensate for this and you would get a Deviation on the true Cords. Nice job on the find anyhow Eye, Ham, We, Todd, Did Sofa, King, We, Todd, Did

  14. NiCad and NiMh need to be Charged seperatly if using a charger such as "Rayovac's" 1 Hour charger (it has a switch) Lion batteries, I dont know about but they are supposed to last longer than both the above. and then you ask: What is the shelf life of batteries? Silver Oxide: 2-3 years Alkaline: 4-5 years Lithium: 5-7 years NiCad/NiMh: Will self-discharge 1% - 2% per day, but will fully recover after few charge cycles. Practical shelf life: 5 years. NiCd batteries should be fully discharged every 4-5 cycles, (a cycle is defined as one discharge and one charge process) whereas SLA batteries should be charged after every use and should avoid full discharges. 15. wouldnt Voice Recognition Software be the choice? "Dragon" should work on any type of text based entry. I shall try this my self now that I see that this would be good idea for catching MC's (goldrush) Sofa, King, We, Todd, Did

  17. A good quality Compass should always be used when you are out in the woods or looking for land while on the ocean/gulf/sea with no good reference point. To use a compass reliably you need at least four things. 1) a compass 2) a map 3) a reference object/Land Mark or "LM" (bulding,bridge,cliff,rock,bouy,tree,or......) 4) an object/place to go to. A compass alone will not find you a cache/place unless you know some details, like: other objects in the area, or the Long/Lat #'s of the location givin in the cache/location description. If thats the case you only need to know where North is and know what Long and Lat you, or an object is. A sextant would be a good addition to the back pack. P.S. I dont use a compass my self I use ded~reconing and pay attention to where im going and where i've gone. Sofa, King, We, Todd, Did

  20. I would, You went to the same exact spot as them by chance right?? Well lets just say you both had help and probably would'nt have found it with out looking at your hand every 10 seconds If your not sure about it the next time that same situation happens, Leave the area, wait for them to stash it again and then return to see if you can find it on your own. 25. I was just reading all of this fuss about cleaning of the markers and I would think that you would'nt want to disturb/clean them in any way. You can try a digital image and then invert the colors(negitive) to show the hidden features. If you can't get a picture that really shows the markings and or wording, you should do as Indiana Jones did and use Charcoal and a piece of Paper to "rub" an image/impression that can be photographed.
