  1. I also like your idea. How about a triangle?
  2. I'll add my request to the others - please discontinue sending system generate emails that appear to come from an individual cacher instead of from Groundspeak. Thanks!
  3. Mega thanks to The Windsockers and Hezekiah for meeting us in Dublin! We had the opportunity to cache with Windsockers on 2 occasions and Hezekiah on one. Great to get to know these cachers and found many cachers with them as our local guides and historians. Will log our finds ASAP. Almost had an FTF in Cashel but the darn tour bus wanted to pull out just as I reached ground zero at Rock of Cache. Can't wait to roll out the red carpet for them if they ever end up any where near Ohio.
  4. That cache is about 2 1/2 hours away from me. Email the cache owner, ask him/her to pick up your bug. They can email me for my mailing address and mail it to me before I leave on Sept. 5th.
  5. Oh my, I'm so excited about my trip that I made a mistake on the dates! Arriving in London Sunday Sept. 6 and departing Thursday morning Sept. 10. Spending the day on Sunday the 6th with friends from SW England. (They are taking the train to London for a day trip.) Tuesday the 8th will be a day trip to Stonehenge and Bath. Hoping to get help from a UK cacher who might be headed to Ireland as the bus tour isn't going to make it easy to find a regular cache to drop them. I'll email Windsockers with the Ireland itinerary.
  6. My sister and I will be arriving in London on Sunday September 9, 2009 and leaving for Ireland on Thursday morning, the 1oth. Then will will be on a 6 day bus tour of southern Ireland. We would love to meet some UK cachers and hand off some travel bugs and geocoins that have the goal of reaching Ireland.
  7. While waiting for an swer, I went to the WiG player settings and unselected "auto detect", set it to com4 at 9600 and hit the test button. recieved the "success" message. The player still says "auto detecting" and never connects with the GPS.
  8. Same for me but initially the M5's GPS was detected by the WiG player but all I had installed was a cartridge an hour away from me. So I put the easter Egg "anywhere" cartridge on the M5 and find that the WiG player cEn't detect the satellites even though the M5 shows 3D with 8 satellites! Now what? No changes were ever made to any of the M5 settings.
  9. NEOGeocachers is the oldest caching group in Ohio and was founded in 2002. It is a loosely organized group that keeps cachers united through monthly coffee events, geocaching events, and the bonds of friendship. Many members have purchased NEOGeocachers pathtags and leave them in caches. Look for us at events because many of us wear gear bearing the NEOGeo logo. NEOGeocachers web site
  10. Making progress! Reinstalled .NET framework 2.0 on my PC Connected M5 to computer Followed prompts that appeard on scrren, accepting all default choices Used ActiveSync Tools menu to install .NET on M5 Went to programs on M5 Chose Wherigo Player Chose my Wherigo cartridge It started up! But I'm inside and the GPS couldn't get a signal. I think it will work for me now. Thanks for giving me a place to post my thoughts and steps as I worked my way through this. Please let me know if I've overlooked anything!
  11. One more step completed. Just ran ActiveSync and went to the Tools menu and chose Add/Remove Programs. Wherigo player now shows up on the M5's program list. Selecting it tells me I need a newer version of the .NET Compact Framework than the version installed on this device. How do I accomplish that? Next post details further progress....I think I have it.
  12. Searching the forums has given me bits and pieces of disconnected set up info. I've never worked with a Pocket PC device so I'm starting from scratch. This is what I have accomplised so far: 1. Downloaded ActiveSync to PC 2. Chose Guest Partnership for setting up ActiveSync 3. Dowloaded .gwc cartidge to my PC and copied it to the M5 in SD Card\Groundspeak\Wherigo\Cartridges 4. Downloaded player file to my PC and copied it to the same directory. These files show in the directory tree on my PC for the M5 but I can't find them on the M5 itself! Are the .gwc file and the player file in the proper directory on the M5? Does the .Net framework need to be copied to the M5? If so, where? (I dl'd it to my PC but don't undestand its function.) These files show in the directory tree on my PC but I can't find them on the M5! What's next? Thanks! Edited a little later: See next post I've gotten one step further on my own.
  13. Keystone and Capt. Buckeye get my vote. Both are fair and honest reviewers who do a fantastic job. They are great people in person too! zoisrus NEO&NWPageocacher
  14. I've acquired a functioning yellow Etrex that is missing its' "black rubber band" making it almost impossible to push the buttons. This would be a great loaner GPS for me to have available when I teach geocaching/GPS skills to Scout troops, individuals, and through my local park system's educational programs. So I'm looking for someone with a dead yellow Etrex who's ready to become an organ donor to mine. I've heard that the band from the Legend (and probably the Venture) would fit the yellow model. Besides the "black rubber band", a data/cigarette lighter power cable would be very helpful. Thanks!
  15. Each cache will stay in place as others are added - one every 2 months. By the end of 2003, all 6 caches will be more or less evenly distributed throughout the county. A specific pull date has not been set but a 1 year expiration date is anticipated. Before the end of 2003 the park district policy is expected to address patron placed caches and specific details as to pull dates and future official park district caches. Kathy (GeaugaGarmin)
  16. Thanks for all the kind words and support of the Geauga Park District's effort to bring geocaching into our county park system. I don't actually work for the park but I am a GPD volunteer naturalist and have the priveldge of working with the people who set park policy. Much thought and planning has taken place and I'm looking forward to the time when park patrons will be issued permits to place caches.
