  1. Hello NorthFaceHiker, I just recently bought my first GPS and purchased the GPSmap 60CSx. Some say overkill for a first GPS but that's okay - I love this thing. I found a website that you might be interested in: FAQ on Garmin & other GPS receivers It doesn't list the GPSmap 60CSx specifically but the other "60/76" models are very similar and I've found it very helpful. I'm probably one of a few that found the product manual helpful as well. I'm sorry to hear about your Magellan, but I think that you will really like this unit!
  2. I think the tarot cards are a little over the top... don't you?
  3. I never said that the manual stated to re-calibrate in between battery changes. I just assumed that it would be a wise idea to check it periodically - obviously Garmin felt the same way, according to your post.
  4. Sad but true, you have to calibrate the unit when you first use the GPSMAP 60CSx or after you install new batteries (it says that on pg. 50 of the owners manual). You might also want to do that periodically between battery changes - just to keep it true.
  5. Press "Find" on your unit Highlight "Waypoints" (it should be highlighted by default) Press "Enter" Highlight the Point Of Interest that you want to delete Either Press "Menu" or "Enter" Highlight "Delete" Press "Enter" It will then prompt the message, "Do you really want to delete waypoint?". Highlight "Yes" Press "Enter" That should do the trick!
  6. No problem Doug. I bought my Garmin 60CSx from Chumbo.com and I got the City Navigator v7 DVD on eBay. If you decide to go to Chumbo.com, use Internet Explorer because it takes forever to load in Firefox and Opera.
  7. Thank you for your reply! Before I posted this message I had tried to search this forum looking for answers to my questions and weeded through quite a few of the posts but without success. I did decide to get the City Navigator v7 DVD so your information helps me know that I made the right choice. I also hope I made the right decision on choosing the Garmin 60CSx. Thanks again for your help - Roy
  8. I am a new GPS user and was hoping to get some input on purchasing map software for my GPS unit. I just bought the Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx and I don't know whether to purchase the City Select North America v7 or the City Navigator North America v7? I'm looking to use my new GPS unit primarily for geocaching, car navigation, and hiking. Also, I had seen on eBay, while pricing both software programs, that the City Select North America was being discontinued. Can anybody shed some light on this as to whether it might be true or not? I don't want to purchase it if it won't have any future updates. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated - thanks!
