  1. Hey Geovlogger I just watched a few of your videos earlier! LOL As to the ops question Clothing I wear comfortable clothes and either sneakers, or Combat style hiking boots. Gear wise, Flashlight, small plastic mirror, some swag, multi tool, plastic bags, extra Log sheets, lot of pens, Tweezers, engineers compass, notebook, Trash Bags, and a photo buddy, (I usually hunt alone so I don't have anyone to take my picture so the photo buddy gets in the pic.) Cell phone. You'll notice I didn't say GPS as I don't have one.
  2. This happens to me as well. I hit refresh and it works fine after that.
  3. This thread has actually helped me as well. Im about to upgrade my phone and get an android, so I was asking myself these same questions...Thanks
  4. Congrats as well! I cant help you on the gps thing as I don't have one. I do have a piece of advice for you. Look around different geocache shopping websites at the different products available to hide things. i have gone to areas looking for a cache, and couldn't find it. then after looking at the shopping pages of several places for hide containers realized that the cache was in my face the entire time I was there.
  5. Yea I would trash it as well.
  6. You know the area you live in. So find a great little spot that only a local would know about and place it there. (With permission of course.) I live in Philadelphia and tracking down Nanos and Micros, have led me to areas and locations I never even knew about. Like the Movie theatre in downtown Philly, Me and my wife were wishing one was there but couldnt find one. Then I find a Nano on the sidewalk right at the corner of one. My suggestion would be someplace like that. As a local in your area you know the best spots already. have fun.
  7. I love creative ones. Ones that make you think about them and have to figure out how to open them.
  8. Well as far as the majority of my finds go, Yes they are micros. This is not by choice. I'm just going after finds in areas I'm in, and the majority of them have turned out to be Micros. I wont be placing any hides for a few weeks yet, I'm waiting to get a GPS to actually place them. I am having a great time doing the finds that are out there even though I don't have GPS at this time. So right now, I am still learning all I can about this game/sport. What I am looking for advice wise is kinda the basics. I have read the guidelines for placement, and will be rereading them probably several times more before I do the first placement. I was just wanting to get feedback from people about anything that experience has taught, that the guidelines didn't think to mention.
  9. Hi all, i have been out for a couple of weeks now and got about 2 dozen finds. I am thinking about putting out my first hides at this point. I have 5 containers ready 3 small and 2 micro. All of which are water resistant, 2 of them are from a beach shop and were designed to be wallet vaults. (You know the ones that you put stuff into to keep dry while swimming.) The micros I made using instructions from a Podcacher video, ie take the top of two bottles and glue them together so the lids on both sides unscrew. All of them have been water tested by me. Any way, I was hoping that someone could give some advice on what to do and what not to do for the hides. As these will be my first ones I want to make sure they are Good ones. I don't want to do a LPC type of cache, but also nothing that will take someone several days to find either. Any advice?
  10. Ok you find a cache and see the coordinates are off. You contact the CO and he responds that he does it on purpose, to make it harder. you list it as a find and give accurate coordinates, Cant the CO go in and delete the coordinates and your find.....Is there a way to put a log entry in with accurate coordinates, that the CO cant delete? Also how do you find who the reviewer is for a cache? Im in Philly and if I need to contact the reviewer for a cache in NJ how would I find that info?
  11. Right now I am looking at this one GCN2CA. Any help is appreciated how do I record a stamp one? Thats not in this one but in the future I could use the info. And whats the difference between a Letterbox and a Letterbox hybrid?
  12. Can someone explain to me what a Letterbox cache is? From what I have seen its a type of puzzle, and if that is it how would I go about solving one?
  13. i wouldnt care either. Maybe put a note in the cache box? Saying "Got ya! your on Candid Camera!"
  14. The reason I'm asking is today I grabbed a few caches and when I got home one of them had like 5 or 6 other people out there today. I would have loved to have met them, and I'm not sure if some one was there while I was. I keep looking for TB Patches and the like, on there bags as well as the Beacon (ie a GPS). It got me thinking that maybe there was something I missed as I am new to this.
  15. Game cameras are motion activated, something comes by it trips a IR sensor, and it takes a picture. Some of them have a "cooldown" timer, which wont allow it to take a lot of rapid fire photos, in order to save battery power. Try looking for a security type outdoor camera with a motion sensor on/off switch to catch people's reactions. Just remember if you post the reactions online without consent. You could be opening up yourself for a lawsuit.
  16. Whats a good way to help ID Geocachers while out and about if they don't have the GPS in hand or have a TB in sight? Is this just a hit and miss, at a cache or is there another way?
  17. Whats an AE? I love the design, how would I go about trying to get one or more of these?
  18. Hmmm seldon maybe you "FOUND IT!"
  19. Proud to say I have been around forums for nearly 25 years, and NEVER once been banned for anything.
  20. getting finds apart is not going to be a problem. She only wants to do the hunting with me, and not that often at that. What I was thinking is setting up an account for us to log finds that we get together, and have my own account for ones I find by myself. I just wanted to be sure its not against the terms of service, or considered a sock puppet type of account.
  21. Is it allowed to have a separate account for me and my wife, or does she have to get her own? The reason I'm asking is I hunt alone most of the time, but we do hunt together at times when schedules permit, and I would like to have a separate record of finds when we are together.
  22. I did explain all that in the log entry. And the CO has not emailed me or deleted my find. Im guessing the CO has no issue with it.
  23. I keep seeing people talking about Events and Event Pages but Im not sure what these are can anybody help me?
  24. To be honest I seem to have an easier time finding the Micros, than any other kind. All though I did find a cache yesterday under an SPL. that was my first full size and my first TB find. As for the Virtual find It was only a couple of months ago. I did have Pics but my camera was stolen before I could get them out of it.
  25. I just remembered Im going to Atlantic City in a week or so. If I can I might grab it and take it there.
