  1. Ah, this idea had crossed my mind a few times... good to see Jeremy is actually considering it. What's the status? -- CourtneyP TeamGeek
  2. Vasona's looking pretty good... lots of stuff to do there, including a water park. I know of many caches along the Los Gatos Creek trail, but unsure about in the park itself. I'll gladly plant one if needed. What we do need is help with games. Anyone have good ideas? I think the date we're looking at is mid August. Tentative to change, of course. -- CourtneyP TeamGeek

  4. Bleh... most places are dry and brown. I guess close to water is good. Too bad most of these places don't have swimming. I guess I'll hafta bust out the water balloons. -- CourtneyP TeamGeek

  6. Hi all, StitchesOnQuilts (Shannah) has asked for my assistance in organizing another GeoPicnic for all of us. What I need now is your opinions on South Bay Parks and Trails... oh, and if there are adequate amounts of caches within. The Contenders: Ed R. Levin County Park: Picnicking, fishing, playground, non-powered boats (no swimming), leashed dogs Santa Teresa County Park : picnic area, dogs on leashes. No mt. bikes except on one trail. Almaden Quicksilver County Park: picnic areas, dogs on leashes. Penetencia County Park (part of Ed Levin?) Uvas Canyon County Park: Picnic areas, campgrounds, dogs, fishing & non-powered boating (no swimming) Anymore suggestions welcome! We don't know the area parks all that well... so, spill!
  7. Today was deadly hot... I was sweltering! Unfortunately, I do think that many parks around are doomed to close temporarily for reasons of fire hazards. How about a little nighttime caching? -- CourtneyP TeamGeek

  11. You people are mad cachers. To reiterate Mr. Vic's question... don't you people work? Oh wait. I don't. Yet. -- CourtneyP TeamGeek

  13. To continue JAR and chloew's comments... It all seems to boil down to being clear about the cache and its contents. To the person seeking the cache: Take preventive measures. Research if it is a themed cache, or what items have been traded in/out of it. To the person placing the cache: Make sure you are clear on your cache descriptions if there is a theme involved, and list the cache's original contents. If you do not inform your fellow geocachers about the theme/contents, and you clearly have one, it seems to go against the sportsmanship of Geocaching. To each their own, I always say... but at least don't drag people unknowingly into your Jack Chick universe... (it's a joke, son! a joke!)

  15. Link didn't work... it was using a cookie on your end. Was it the iConcepts one? I did a quick search and found that for $14.95, $5 rebate. quote: In the Box: iConcepts Digital Camera USB Connector Cable 2 AAA batteries CD-ROM Software Users Manual System Requirements: Windows 98, 2000, Me or XP Pentium II 300, Celeron AMD Athlon processor or higher 64 MB RAM 100 MB free hard drive space CD-ROM Drive Available USB port 16-bit color display adapter
  16. IMHO, membership is the only way to go if you are a true geocacher. Why would you not support the pastime you enjoy? I would treat it like shareware. Try it out for a few days, and if you like it, pay the money to support it. If there's no support, where would we be?
  17. You mean you need an excuse to go to Fry's? I'll endure the lack of customer service to just wander around and look at toys. Who doesn't?

  19. I just got my notification e-mail today. I was starting to worry, too... but no more!

  21. Hoping to hit some caches tomorrow morning before lunch with a friend in Emeryville (94608)... anyone got any good suggestions for that area? I'm thinking about checking out NewStinky (pending on construction work), and possibly XIII (if I head towards Lafayette).

  24. I dunno about you guys, but I'm gonna be sleepin'! Long, but fun, day in the sunshine... but forgot the sunscreen! We're all pretty toasted over here. Well, maybe a cache after the Farmer's Market...
