"after entering the text for your find, scroll down to see a list of travel bug trackables in your inventory. Using the dropdown menu, select either "dropped off' to leave a TB in the cache or "visited" to record a visit while still retaining possession of the TB. Once you are ready, click the button to submit your log" I never saw a dropdown menu. Why would anyone make a trip to 'visit' a TB while still retaining possession of the TB? Why would you have to make a distinction between retrieved, grabbed, dropped, discovered, when one would suffice? Am I more confused now? u bet

No. If this is the one you retrieved and held since January, you posted two notes and discovered it. It wasn't placed ("dropped"). When you place it, the system tells the trackables owner where it is.

"After you've placed the TB into a cache, make your cache log and select that TB from the list below the cache log. Select "Dropped Off". Submit the cache log and you're done. If you already submitted the cache log, edit it, and now select Dropped Off, and submit" only trouble is that that TB was not listed from the list below the cache log...more confusion from now on I will just email the cache owner and tell them I have their TB and that I am going to put it in soandso cache. It is totally ridiculous to make something so easy so confusing...

Everybody gets confused by TBs. They get as complicated as you would ever hope, and then some. Cache pages and TB pages are separate things, but logs are made a little easier because you can log Dropping a TB (or Visiting), while typing a cache log. You Retrieve a TB by its Tracking Number, on the TB's page. But you place a TB into a cache by using the Inventory list on the cache log. When you took the TB and logged Retrieving the TB, it's in your Inventory. After you've placed the TB into a cache, make your cache log and select that TB from the list below the cache log. Select "Dropped Off". Submit the cache log and you're done. If you already submitted the cache log, edit it, and now select Dropped Off, and submit. Once you've Dropped the TB into the cache, there's a "Drop" log on the TB's page where you can tell more about the TB itself. In the example below, I physically placed the "Angel" Geocoin into a cache, so I'm editing my cache log, and selecting "Dropped Off". When I click Submit, the cache page gets updated (then the TB will be in the cache Inventory). And the TB's page gets updated with a terse "Drop" log. Next I go to the TB's page and type something about the TB and post pictures. If you need a little refresher on how to Drop a TB into a cache, click the "?" icon next to the phrase "Dropped Off Any Trackables?" while you're composing your cache log.

yep, I logged it when I found it a long time ago, it still shows up as in my possession BUT, I want it to show up in the inventory of the new cache...

right here in front of me I have printed out the TB directions for dropping off, visit the cache listing,[/b] visit the log a cache page, select the TB to drop off and I followed them to a T, what I did not see on any of the pages I visited was how to tell the TB owner that I took his TB out of one cache and put it in another.. These directions are undoubtedly some of the most confusing I have ever read pertaining to TB It is no wonder half the TB are not logged/recorded... on the page of the cache I placed this TB in I see no place to enter that it is now in that cache, even trying to explain this is confusing! :anibad: :anibad: Even when I entered the TB tracking number of the TB I moved I never saw it show up in the inventory of the new cache! I am ready to give up...it certainly could be made easier. Anyone else find this to be so?
  10. Hey! Thanx everybody! I'm going to check out all the letter box sites now; I bet the owner of that letterbox wondered who put the geo-coin in it!
  11. I found a mailbox when I went to hide a cache......I did not know what it was....I just thought someone had stuck a stamp in a tree, now many months later I found out it was a mailbox cache...........the log has lots of cute stamps on it...one says 'The Railfan stamp #2' by The Fool On The Hill....I want to find out more about mailbox caches

  17. I realize this question has been asked 1 million X! This will make 1million1..... I have caches I want to hide today and this is the first time to hide. I need to know do I follow the directions on page 7 in the owner's manual that says "Creating a Waypoint" to get the coordinates for the hiding place? I have the Garmin eTrex. Someone told me all I have to do is turn on the gps and lay it on the ground right where I hide the cache and the Garmin will automatically enter the coordinates...... Someone else said to turn it on and go around all 4 sides and then average all the numbers to get the coordinates...... It seems I am the only one that doesn't know how to hide a cache because everytime I go look for one the Garmin is right on track..... I have a habit of making things harder than they really are I want to go today before the snow flies......... TY
  18. Will Florida be allowed in this contest? I think they were not permitted in the first two jeep contests (and maybe this one? noone seems to know). Florida was never excluded from the Travel Bug portion of the contest. This is a common misconception. Only the sweepstakes was prohibited for Florida entrants because of their draconian laws.
  19. LOL, Torry, it was not a typo it was to see if you read it and noticed ....... O gosh, I left out Trubba M..... Thanx again to all of you who responded... I found the below (very bottom) question in a search. It is the same question I have only for me the answer is not specific enough. Would someone take a few minutes to give more detailed directions? It would have been nice if the manual would have taken care of that but I have found manuals are sorely lacking in the questions I would like answered! Specifically I want to know if I am supposed to enter all the numbers at the top of a cashe page..... for example....this is at the top of the page I am looking at now: Do I enter all these or just the waypoint? Are all these numbers the 'coordinates'? N 38° 59.126 W 084° 39.393 UTM: 16S E 702976 N 4317772 Use waypoint: GCTT2G Thanx very much _________________________________________________________________________________ How do I manually enter cache coordinates into my GPSr? This question comes up frequently, and it is easy, but not obvious for a newbie. On most GPSr's you simple "mark" your current location as a waypoint. Then scroll to the coordinates that were just entered and edit them to the coordinates that you want to enter. You can also edit the waypoint name and symbol if you'd like. Press "save" or "OK" and viola!
