  1. Me too, and the easiest explanation on how to use them I found in this article. http://65.34.18.106/content.php?article.15 Is there a site like this for the PPC?

    Muggles

Ok, what are Muggles? Is this a Geocaching word?
  3. Right now I have a GlobalSat BC-307 Compact Flash GPS Receiver + PCMCIA Adapter. What would you suggest as a better repleacement for this receiver with an External Antenna? The GlobalSat got droped and seems to still work,
  4. Does any body use an externial antenna with the GlobalSat BC-307 CF card? Where can I get one?
  5. Do you use Backcountry Navigator? I have been trying the trial version and have had some problems. Right now I cannot import a GPX file because the Import button is greyed out even though I have GPX chosen. I beleive the file is ok because two other programs can open it.
  6. I'm using an Axim 5X and just downloaded BackCountryNavigator to try out. I had to install it on to my CF card but I can't use it with my CF USGlobalSat Compact Flash GPS Receiver BC-307. How do you use BackCountryNavigator ? Thanks. Carl
  7. Would you be so kind and tell me how I can apply a filter to reduce the number of track points? Carl
  8. I have a CF BC-307 GPS for my Dell Axim 5X which I can get it to connect but how can I get waypoints or tracks or for Geocaching? Di I need some special software?
  9. That is what I'm doing now. The problom is when you have points that are close to geather they are on top of each other in Mapsource and you cannot zoom in close enough to see them. Carl
  10. I have a Garmin GPSMap 76 and just found out that if I save a track I loose all of my waypoint times. It looks like if it can save all of the other information it should save the time. When I'm out Geocaching I want to the tracks then I can use Topofusion to view the tracks on a map and have any pictures I took show up at the waypoints. Is this common to all GPSs? Am I the only one that needs the time saved?
  11. The antenna is behind the globe icon. You will get slightly better reception with it flat. However, I get great reception when my eTrex Vista is in the auto mount, or clipped to a strap on my backpack, both of which put it in the upright position. Bottom line - there's a difference, but not a big difference. Has any body tried one of those little GA 25MCX low profile remote GPS antennas? Looks like you could put this on your hat and put the GPS in your pocket. Carl
  12. Has any body used the program Opanda PowerExif to get lat/lon into your picture EXIF. I notice that it supports .jep and .tif. Carl
  13. Bluetooth is a method for devices to communicate with each other. It's not a regional thing, it's either your Cel Phone or GPS or PDA have it, or they don't. If they do they can talk to each other...with the right drivers. I use a Bluetooth Keyboard with my current Dell X50v. It works fairly well once you go through the pain of setting it up and pairing the devices to begin with. Doesn't Bluetooth cahrge a fee to use it. I live way out in the country and we can just verly get cell phone service.
  14. What is the difference between the Axim 5x and 3x.
  15. I have the same question. Only mine is a Garmin GPSMap 76. Carl
  16. It should. Should and DOES! Thanks Maeglin! I've had it working a while now. Does a great job. CacheNav makes it great with in town caches and quick lookups. I've got a bluetooth card in mine in the CF slot, 1gig memory in the SD slot, bluetooth external GPS rounds it out. But you could also use a CF gps if you're looking for a great all in one solution. I've had mine updated to 2003 since it was released, so you may want to make sure it's already updated, and everything you want to work on it functions. Old and updated PPC's can be a bit tricky, to find drivers, get updates etc. If you don't like to fiddle and research a bit, a little extra money gets you a smaller unit, with bluetooth, wifi, built right in. "a little extra money gets you a smaller unit, with bluetooth, wifi, built right in." Any suggestions? Is bluetooth avabile in all parts of the US?
  17. Will CacheMate work on the Axim x5? "check closed auctions on eBay using the advanced search" I couldn't get this to work but it looks like they run any where from $75 to $150.
  18. Will this PDA work with my Garmin MapSource and GPSMap 76 GPS? Can I put Caches in it. What is a fair price for a used one including a charger?
  19. Would some body tell me what benchmarks are? I have read some information on the internet about benchmarks but I'm still not sure what they are. Thanks. Carl
  20. This might be a little off topic. If it is just move it. I noticed that alot of users also told what handheld device they used. So I thought I would ask what Handheld device you use with your GPS software since I want to get a handheld device. Carl
  21. Hi. I'm just starting to geocaching. I have a Garmin Map 76 and MapSource 6.5. How do you use MapSource with GSAK? Thanks. Carl
