I have a Colorado 400t. That I want to use to Geocode some pictures. To do this I clear the track log sync the time on my camera and Colorado. Then I start walking and taking pictures. When I'm finished I archive the log. Then I move 40 miles to a new location. Clear the track log, start taking pictures. When I'm finished I again arcive the track log. The problem is when I get back home and load the track logs I have no time and date. Does the Colorado 400t detlet this information. If it does how can you save your logs so you can Geocode the pictures? Has anybody else had this problem?

These are good sources of information. But they don't help a new person a whole lot. For instances. I turned my unit on, went to set up>tracks and set tracks on, walked about a half of a mile in the woods behing my house. Now I wanted to find my way back to where I started. So I went Where to and chose Current Track (the only track there). The map page comes up with aa green button in the bootm left corrner that says Trackback si I hit enter. The map page redraws and now I see a Magenta colored line with a black line on top of that. Now what do I do? Good thing I wasn't lost. I searched both of these links but neither one gave any information on this. It's detailed information that new people neeed not general how tos.

I just got my Colorado 400T. But trying to use it is a steep climb. The manual that came with it is almost usless. Does any body know where I can find some help on using the Colorado 400T? Like a tutorial.

What are you trying to do with the tiger data? With a Colorado 400T you should already have a 100K TOPO with road data for the whole USA. If you're look for something with higher resolution, you should give the following page a look for 24k TOPO maps of Montana: LINK. I'm not doing any thing with the tiger data. What I was looking for was a map of Montana that had more detailed information for the state then the MapSource ver. 6.13.7. I just downed the IbycusUSA20.exe. Are these maps just for people who don't have the MapSource maps? Do they have more information in them then the MapSource?

I had the wind blow in from 4 different directions in less than 3 hours on one day over a 2 night stay in the mountains. What's that tell ya? That the mountains have some squirrely wind. Nothing more, nothing less. Having a weather pattern overlaid on the GPS screen is a superb idea. When you get out of the flatlands look me up. I'll show you how blind you really are tucked in the mountains when it comes to knowing which way the wind blows. And in the mountains you need all the help you can get.

I have to admit that I was pretty skeptical of the touch screen interface at first. However once I started using my Oregon 400t I was amazed at the data entry and navigating. The Colorado is easy to move around as well so that's a matter of preference I imagine, but to any kind of text entry it's the Oregon all the way. Selecting a WP/cache on-screen is tougher on the Oregon though, much easier on the Colorado. edit : I am still interested in seeing how the Oregon performs in the winter with thick gloves I really don't see any major difference. Snice I all ready have the Colorado. I might wait until Garmin comes out with the new gps after the Oregon. What is the time spane between models?

No, According to Garmin, there are 2 different design teams working on the Colorado and the Oregon (which would explain why the GeoCaching screen looks different). They even still update firmware for the 60CSx! Is the Oregon worth an upgrade from the Colorado? I use my gps mostly for backpacking.

Does the Oregon have a Track Back feature? Like my old GPSmap 76. I really miss it in my Colorado.

I just got my Colorado 400t about six months ago. And it seems like it still has quiat a few bugs. So with the Oregon 400T coming out. Does that mean Garmin will stop fixing the bugs and updating the Colorado 400T?

Ok. My Topo2008 and 24k parks west will be here today. I have read that they can be pretty hard to install. So what is the best way to install them in Mapsource. The 24k parks west is the only one that I need to install on my 400t. Right? How do I do that?

I assume the 24K for parks is not preloaded on the 400t and have to be bought seperatly. Right?

I just installed version 5 of Trip & Waypoint Manager that came with my 400t. How can I get it to show Topo maps instead of the maps it shows by default? By the way. What kind of map is the default map?

If you've got the ones that come with the Colorado, personally I'd probably stick with those. I'm told that (in a few areas) mine seems to have a bit more detail as far as water features go. How big an SD card is required depends on how big an area you want to load. The whole of the US is (currently) about 1.6GB worth of data. This size will increase when I get around to adding topo data. Thanks. I only have the ones that came preloaded with my Colorado. Snice I'm new to all of this GPS stuff. I was just wondering if there where any better topos for the Colorado. I do some hiking. So I want the best topos I can get.

What is the difference between the Topo maps that come with the Colorado 400t and the Topo maps from Ibycus? And how big of a SD card do you need for th iybcus topo maps?

There is a lot of good information in both of these links. But I need a tutorial that would show each step to download a geocache, put in your 400t and then how to go from there using the 400t to find your cach and the steps to take after that. And a tutorial on how to use the 400t in planning a back packing trip and using the features in the 400t on your trip.

I was thinking of getting a Colorado for Geocaching and hicking but after reading this thread. I'm not sure that would be a good choice. Thoese of you who have the Colorado. Would you still recommand the Colorado?

If you don't have Google Earth, you're missing out! It's an application that you need to download. (To find it just Google 'google earth') Once you've downloaded it, you can download a geocaching plug-in, which you will find on the right toolbar of your profile page that will show all the caches in an area... like in the picture below. The lower half of the screen is an internet browser that opens the cache pages if you click on a particular cache icon. Click on thumbnail below for the bigger version! I LOVE this app!
