  1. Thanks mach2003, the link worked and downloaded fine. I am running XP and it downloaded fine. I tried the "search" function and got pages and pages of info. Felt like asking was easier for me, and it worked. Next time I will read all the pages first for a few hours before I "just ask".
  2. I surly hope someone can help me out. When I try to update Mapsource, it comes up in a window that says (unable to find change description file) but ti gives an option to ignore this and download anyway. When I do that a small black screen pops up and says "the NTVDM has encounted an illegal instruction"!!!! Any ideas??? What would happen if I removed the whole program and reinstall it????
  3. I am thinking you have to load them both at the same tim. At least you do in my GPSMAP 60cx.
  4. I guess its relevance would be it makes a GPS act up! Here on days they are testing my GPS jumps all over the area and loses satellites left and right. I thought maybe that might have been Docs problem. Guess I was wrong, sorry.
  5. The government has been using a "jammer" in the past few months for military testing. Several parts of the USA are effected. There was a thread about it. Can not find it, but it seems like the lower half of CA and parts of Arizona, and some part of the east coast were in the test area. Heres one link to it.http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...2605&hl=jamming

  8. We have 2 Dell Desk tops in our office. Both of them play DVD movies and CD music. But they won't read Garmins City Navigator!!! Had to get an external DVD player to download the City Navigator. Go figure!!! It downloaded fine on my Sony laptop.

  10. As far as I know, at least for me it is installed on your hard drive when you play it on your computer. I installed it and have access to the maps without having the disc in the reader. Now the Topo map you have to put in each time you use it.
  11. Ever eat at the Happy Dragon?? As far as I know, if ya got the D's showing you are getting the WAAS signal for correction. I found the Dragon by the lat-longs on the picture of your screen.
  12. OK, thats what I figured!!!! Garmin is one step ahead of me. Thanks for the answer.
  13. I don't plan on doing this, but I wonder if you switched chips between an "outside" GPS with one of my 2 units. Would the outside GPS have the City Navigator maps in it???
  14. Thanks alot!!! Going to order the maps now.
  15. I looked in past post, and on the website for City Navigator and its not clear to me. Can I put maps from City Navigator on 2 computers and 2 GPSmap 60cx's?? And change the maps when I want on the two GPS units on either computer??? I have 2 GPSmap 60cx's and between the computer at work and home would like to know if I will have a problem unlocking the maps for both units and computers. Thanks!!!
  16. If you look at the battery meter at the top of the display, it changes to the "power plug" icon when you hook it up to the USB port.
  17. In my 60cx the USB, when hooked up to the computer "does" supply power and keeps the backlite on.
  18. I get 35 good here in S Cal. Inside a steel building!!!
  19. Thanks for the info!! I even went down the road 20 miles hoping it was a local microwave tower causing the problem. Will try it after 7pm tonite and see if they shut it down like the link says. Thanks again.
  20. Has any in the San Diego area notice weak signals and not being able to lock on the satellites? Since Tuesday morning all 3 different models of GPS's have not been able to get a steady lock. HOGCAT
  21. No, it plays music Cds no problem. Movies also. We have 2 Dell systems in our office. Both of them won't do nothing with the map disc.
  22. Thanks for the good answers!!!! I figured the other way around since the GPS 12 had 4 batterys, GPSmap 60 had 2. Just got home and going to see how it works. Will let ya know.
  23. I have the power cord for a cigarette lighter plug also has the 9-pin serial port connector. It was for a old Garmin GPS 12 I have, which took 4 AA batterys. My question is will this cord work OK on a GPSmap 60 CX, which has only 2 AA batterys??? Or will it put too many volts into the 60 CX????
  24. I have Metro Guide version 7. The CD loads fine on my lap tops (2 of them, one with Windows XP and the other one with Windows 98 SE) But my Dell desktop with Windows XP professional does not read the CD!!! I tried everything, but nothing works. The CD is new, and not a scratch on it. Any ideas????? Thanks for any help.
