  11. Start by offering some facts about the problem, for example - A. What make and model GPS receiver do you have? B. Do you ever download and install firmware upgrades for your GPS unit? C. Is the problem due to slow acquisition of GPS satellites or due to slow acquisition of the WAAS satellite? Figure this out by watching the GPS satellite-acquisition display during the period of inaccuracy to see if, during that period, only one or two GPS satellites are acquired. If, however, four or more GPS satellites are acquired early on then perhaps the issue is WAAS satellite acquisition. D. What's the weather been like when you experience the problem? ... dense cloud-cover or fog perhaps? E. By any chance have you been wanting to buy a new GPS receiver? If so then I can set you up with a convincing Forum response that might make it through your spouse-filter. F. Chu got a seester? Thanks Harmon for taking some time to work with my problem. Sorry for not answering until today but I've worked all weekend instead of geocaching. A. What make and model GPS receiver do you have? Magellan SportTrak Map B. Do you ever download and install firmware upgrades for your GPS unit? No, never realized you could do that - but I'll check now for sure. Never paid much attention to it, I'll keep an eye on it. I saw that I had 4 satellite numbers and 2 W's on the screen today. Also, the WAAS came on last. D. What's the weather been like when you experience the problem? ... dense cloud-cover or fog perhaps? Clear blue skyes - perfect So Cal weather E. By any chance have you been wanting to buy a new GPS receiver? If so then I can set you up with a convincing Forum response that might make it through your spouse-filter. Tempting offer... F. Chu got a seester? I do?!?!?!
  12. Congrats FM on 3000 It was a little more than a year ago when you hit 2K - it was when this thread started!!! Look at page 1!
  13. And now to something different... Is it me or... For the past week or two I've had a real problem zeroing in with my GPSr - I'm off 50 ft or so - or I stand still at GZ and it slowly counts down to 0 from 20-30 ft off etc. I just have a hard time to get a good fix fast. I remember this happened to me in the spring for a few weeks and then it went away. This problem is all over the city where I've been caching Santee - La Mesa - Clairemont so I know it's not a local problem. Anybody else with the same problem, or any solution/suggestion?
  14. WTF sounds like a great game. Sadly, the website is already taken... Oh well I was having trouble finding anyone to feed me. Thanks RJ! for the info! WTF??? is that a spin-off from WWF! Only if you put on the Bear suit.

  16. Thanks, but I already did that cache...
  17. - Bump - So what are the details of this adventure. I know I am going, and I hear that duganrm may also attend in their jeep. Starting at 6am is pretty early.. Where is the intended meeting place and caching area expected to hit? TA Since it's a puzzle cache I cannot give the details in the forum. I'll e-mail you my phone no's and we can talk about it. PB
  18. Did you get any volunteers???? I would like to know if I should tape the whole show (you never know what's going to happen on a live broadcast ), and I'm unable to watch it since I'm working at that time. Thanx!
  19. McDonalds seems to be the most popular spot for swag. I'm not naming names but I know one person that buys bags of farm animals at Kmart! Try your local 99 cent store
  20. It's not work I'm worried about ; see previous entry by TrailGator's. Honeydew stuff?!?! Do it on the weekend and give her lots of - She'll be sure to let you out on Monday... Well, if that doesn't work... then you're out of luck...
  21. There are several "beginner" caches around, search on zip 92109 and read the logs. Just don't try the water caches at this time of the year
  22. Next Monday (10/16), I'm heading out to Tomb Raider with Eric from 'Eric and Hill'. We're planning on renting a 4x4 (X-Terra) for the trip and if anybody want's to tag along to split the cost it's not a problem. Start time: around 6 am. We'll be gone all day since neither of us have done any caches in the area (The Basilisk is another cache we'll definitely do). Anybody interested???? If you work, take the day off - Remember, even a bad day caching beats any day working.
  23. Hey - that's NOT me!!! Is this you? Better!!!
  24. Hey - that's NOT me!!!
  25. Can anybody clarify MTRP/MCAS boundaries?!?! I was out caching in Spring cyn north of 52 yesterday and got busted by a Park Ranger by Capture the High Ground. To make a long story short - he told me anything west of Spring cyn is Federal land and off-limits. I asked him about if there were signs showing the boundaries, but he told me that 1) Mountain bikers knock them down all the time 2) the boundaries are "iffy", not very well defined. Well, I kept on caching along Spring cyn, and as it turned out, I followed the arrow and got "lost" after DELIVERANCE - ended up on the western ridge (lots of caches there) where there were posted signs about live firing area - I consider that well-defined boundary. However, I did see two mountain bikers (I assume they were civilians) using the same service road I was walking on so I wasn't the only one up there. So, does anybody know what is MTRP and what is MCAS? After reading some logs, it seems like parts of Spring cyn is also off-limits further north.
