  1. I forgot to mention that, and I agree -- I would gladly replace a basic log book for someone, but I post a NM for those custom ones -- no way am I going to print a tiny scroll, cut it to size, and then wrap just the right length around a paperclip so it fits in a bolt... They are peices of art craft that to me represent the cache owner.
  2. Interesting read -- scary when it gets personal... 1. Is is rude to post a NM after logging a Find? (i.e. Two seperate logs in a row.) I have done this many times thinking they are two different topics. One about the adventure of my hunt, and the other is a call for help to the cache. In fact, I have then waited about a month and a half and then posted a third Archive log. 2. I have only 4 hides, but I am considering what a maximum amount should be. (I check my caches even if nobody has posted anything about them) I know, everyone should set their own limits, but maybe there should be a maximum number? Realistically, there has got to be an ideal number. Sure there can be exceptions, but then the reviewer for the area should make sure that a person with an exception is doing a good job. If a person got to their maximum # of caches, maybe they could go back and get rid of the magnet rail, street lamp cover, and/or transformer altoid tin cache and replace it with something more creative. 3. I get a little freaked out when someone deletes my log and does not tell me why. It's like they threw my work away. It has only happened twice and once was a mistake -- the other time was when I saw it just before they typed a private letter to me...
  3. Thanks for checking it out -- just went back and it is still doing it to me. If I try to copy text it blanks out, it looks like the problem happens somewhere AFTER the "decrypt" hyperlink... Just went back to check the page and the problem seems to be fixed.

  5. I was logging a page this morning and was having a hard time with the page -- never saw this before. Anywhere I click the page just blanks out!! Please go try it!! At first I was thinking a virus was taking over my computer or something, but after checking this anomaly out on different pages and computers, figured out the problem was just here. I didn’t know where else to flag this problem. 1. What’s happening? 2. If this is not the right place to point something like this out, then where? Thanks for all of your support! J_czerwin
  6. I just placed my first multi-cache and the FTF thought it to be more of a puzzle. Most of the multis I have found do have a puzzle twist to them. Could there be a new hybrid name for a multi-cachce that has some puzzle solving involved? Or is it just assumed that a multi can have puzzles? Thanks for your thoughts and opinions... j_czerwin
  7. Thanks for the help -- I couldn't find this info on my own...
  8. That's a great idea!! A step farther would be to have a version that "fits to page" so I only use one sheet or don't have to print preview every time to see what I might have to adjust for in the print settings....
  9. Would a solution be to upload the image to my gallery and then use the link to the Geocaching web site instead?
  10. I have placed my first cache and when I selected a background image, I did not upload an image, I entered a URL. The image is from another person's web page. Questions: 1. If the person changes their web page does my background change? 2. What happens if the image doesn't exist anymore? Thanks for your wisdom in advance....
  11. Jeremy -- Just a thought -- I would thing this would be doable from a programming standpoint and accounts could be combined or whatever -- BUT would cause a lot of extra work for you guys... ...have you ever considered a special request section where a fee could be charged for maintenance like that?? I am sure this could generate some revenue for the board that is justified for the service.... Just a thought....
  12. Make sure you refresh the page after changing the security setting. Just tried it and it worked fine for me. This fixed the problem for us too. Thank you for the advice! But, will I have problems if I just leave the security setting??? What to expect? If there is a reason not to leave the security setting high, hopefully we will be notified here when the web page has been fixed.... Thanks again!

    Gpswhores

A new cacher in my area has chosen the name GPSwhores and it bothered me becuase I didn't think it was really kid friendly, and now I will see this name in logs all around me... Am I being too sensitive?
  14. There is no publisher listed -- but I guess I can use the person who published caches in the same area.... ??
  15. INTERESTING - There is NO Publisher!!
  16. Thanks guys for the advice -- I will explore that route...
  17. I just found a cache last night that had the wrong coordinates. See "Tally Ho!" (GCVMX1) I notified the owner and he said that he can not change the coordinates by that much, and so he simply posted a note in the listing. HOWEVER -- people will be downloading the wrong GPS coordinates in to their devices. Isn't there a way that Geocaching.com can fix this for the owner??
  18. Hilarious!!!! Oh my god, that is too funny! Thanks!! Now how do we ge it implimented!!!?!?! Still laughing....
  19. I am sure this has been thought of before. But what has been the conclusions? Sure, the service will be free for everyone, but premium status will have perks. Like no delays during peak times -- and I would think that would be an incentive to join when you are told you need to log in later due to high volumes..... Curious,
  20. When I was first being taught about geocaching by my Dad, he did the same thing. When logging my first caches in the computer, he opened an envelope and pulled out some coins. I thought he was giving them to me. So I logged them. But then, he put them all back in his bag and said he is going to grab them back from me -- and showed me how I had these icons. It was weird cuz it was my Dad and he was excited about everything, but I did not feel like I deserved those Icons. BTW -- if there is a way to remove them, I might want to make that request. But that is a tough call being from my Dad and all -- please let me know none-the-less. This event, along with a guy logging a cache that wasn't there while I was fixing it one day (see Rockclimbing Felines GCHMEG) made me angry and I wanted to protest. But I calmed down and finaly posted: "Ahh, but somehow I feel like I am acting like a Sci-Fi geek arguing if the characters of Star Wars are more realistic than those of Star Trek. Who cares right? As long as we are having fun." And let it go. Different people play this game different ways. MAYBE -- people could sign up for specific ethics levels and have that kind of a logo in their geo-name. Like finders say they only log what they find. While traders say they log trades. (no pun intended) And Icon whores can say that is what it is all about for them. Numbers folks - like Ventura Kids which is an army of people trying to make crazy numbers can be listed as a team. Etc..... It would be a way to compare apples to apples, and I think that might even bring about interesting statistics on what people like about geocaching!
  21. I love just clicking on "from your home coordinates" and seeing the caches right away. A premium feature should be that I can enter in several coordinates and then be able to search from coordinate 1, 2, 3, and so on. Maybe even I could label them. My home coordinates are for home. But I like to search near work too. I would love to be able to click on "from your WORK coordinates" (or any other name) without having to search by zip code or entering in Longitude Lattitude to where I work. I'll feel silly if this feature exists already, but if so, PLEASE tell me where!! If not, PLEASE write it in!!!
