  1. I got mine for $370 before tax and shipping from dependableresource.com
  2. The link you posted is for the CSx.... you mean this link: http://www.garmin.com/support/agree.jsp?id=1225
  3. I love mine. I use it in the truck and backpacking. No problems yet.
  4. I just went through this and I decided on the 60cx (got it on Wednesday). You can disable both the sensors. However I spent some time with a friend's 60csx backpacking and we didn't find the compass to be all that accurate. As for the barometric altimeter, I didn't have a need for it so I can't comment on how well it works. Not to mention I found my 60cx for $380 brand new. I guess its all on what you use it for. Hope that helps.
  5. Thank you! I don't know if this question will make any sense, but I've never used a GPS before- will I *need* increased detail for the GPS to get me close to a cache? In other words, if I know the streets and trails pretty well, is it possible I'll still be able to figure out where something is by entering the coordinates? I don't know if I'm asking what I mean to ask. Unfortunately it's NOT going to be warm tomorrow, but it should be sunny anyway! We were nearing 70 degrees a couple of days ago, but I think we're well below zero tonight. Around here, though, who knows. Could be in shorts again in a day or so! Thank you for the help. No you do *not* need a map to find any way point. A map is just an extra guide showing you more info about the area (roads, topo, etc). Think of it as background artwork helping you. If you no the area well then you are most likely going to ignore the map anyways as garmin maps are only down to 12min which is not a lot of detail.
  6. I thought Navigator had additinoal information allowing voice prompts, and heard rumors that it had more POI's etc. In addtion to the larger regions that you mention. zeropresence, The easy way is to uninstall the program. Then copy the CD's to your hard drive and intall the software from the hard drive. It should work. If not..you will need a registry editor and ruther instructions. Worked... The registry path is now showing the harddrive... that was simple....
  7. Thank you! Also I have copied my topo map cds to my harddrive (so I don't have to keep putting in the cds) and the West works fine but when I select East it crashes. I believe I need to edit my registry to reflect a harddrive location and not a disk drive. Does anyone know how to do this?
  8. I am not sure if this is the right forum... But I do a lot of road traveling in San Diego and LA. I have a garmin 60cx and just ordered a wonderful dash mount (thanks for the advice guys) and I am looking for the best "on road" map setup. What do you guys think? Navigator or Select?
  9. Yeah it does! I just measured my truck and placed an order! Thanks again.
  10. Nevermind. I found a good site with some better photos: http://www.expressmounts.com/item-ram/rapb166ga12.htm or http://www.expressmounts.com/item-ram/ramb166ga12.htm Any advice on plastic or aluminum?
  11. Thanks guys! I have a 2005 Tacoma and I am trying to look at which one would work better. The RAM one doesn't seem to have much of a arm on it. How much does it extend from the suction cup? I need it to come off like 3-4 inches. I do some offroading and I need to make sure it will stay in the mount as well. Thanks again.
  12. http://shop.garmin.com/accessory.jsp?sku=010%2D10457%2D00 "Automotive windshield mounting bracket with suction cup mount" Anyone used this? I am looking to mount my 60cx on to left side of my windshield (against my side pillar). Any feedback would be very helpful!
  13. I just ordered a 60Cx and this topic has me a little bummed out. It's my first GPS unit so hopefully I will enjoy it. To be honest I never travel outside of the US west so I doubt I will even use the microSD card. But USB 1.0? Thats very sad. I bought the unit for search and rescue stuff I volunteer for and they said this unit was the way to go for field work. Hopefully that is true.
