  1. ...so many caches...so little time! ...I could get more of them bagged...if only I didn't need to go to work!
  2. Keep your sabers high lads for today we ride for Garry Owen and glory! Today we will leave no stone unturned....
  3. Add my thanks to those of the M&M's to Mohammad for organizing and running this geocaching photo contest. Lots of great photos to enjoy. See you on the high ground... saber6
  4. Still working both sides of the Escarpment. The Lads ran amuck at Faisal's Pinnacle. Twice attacking the massive column with no success. Had the Muggles visited the site? Time will tell. On top of the Escarpment the Lads placed a cache in honor of the Old Widow Hag of Kingdom and continued their frantic and everwidening search for the sacred food containers left by the ancient wise ones. Conquering the climb to seek the Saudi Claus by taking the road less travelled they located the sacred container and continued to travel around the entire Wadi in search of treasures not mentioned by the wise sage Ionis Thompson. Further, the Lads returned to the site of an ancient waterfall in search of the lost Pools of Isis but alas no luck. Perchance they overlooked a clue, or perchance the 12 heavenly guides did not favor their party that day. Downtrodden they mounted their trusty steeds to return to their Eskan, vowing to return another day.
  5. Wow! You need to get out Geocaching more often... Seriously...very interesting statistical review on the Geocaches in KSA. Wish I knew how many Geocachers are active in the Kingdom today. Prior to the May 2003 and again the April/May/June 2004 terrorist attacks I suspect the number of active Geocachers was significantly higher than today. I hope as the security situation matures we will see increasing numbers of folks back out on the trails. As the number of Geocachers increases so will the experience level and so will the number of cache placers. The group of folks I go out searching with has gathered the necessary material and is ready to place a number of caches as soon as we discover interesting spots in which to hide a cache. Will start carrying this prepared cache with us next time we are out in hopes of locating a worthy location. Thanks for the topic and thanks for starting the photo contest. Will add my photos this weekend. cheers...saber6 "Team Recon in Force"
  6. Would be hard to imagine that 4 searchers armed with photos and climbing for 90 minutes or so....twice....could not locate. I believe the weather took this one away. Someone will have to go, check, and tell me it is still on that cliff face before I will return. Too many other caches in the Kingdom. When I finish locating the rest I will come back to "The Tears"! See you this weekend..."if God wills it!"
  7. Ah yes...the new boys are on the move in Saudi Arabia. Definately got the Geocaching bug and are checking off 4-8 cache's per weekend. Was happy to see you all today and was going to mention my spotting to "Don B" tomorrow. Will have to check your accomplishments. Having trouble finding "Zenda's Tears" and am still trying to find the Wadi entrance to "In the Valley Beyond". Having a great time. Thanks for the note. Trying to get more of my Geoathelete Team out in the desert. saber6

    Tbs Out

Noticed that the movement of TB's had slowed down. Making every effort to shift distant TB's to cache sites closer to Metro areas. The Lawrence was empty last time I checked. saber6
  9. Haven't noticed any attributes listed that were unclear yet. Certainly here in Saudi Arabia it would be best if all Geocachers had 4WD, but since they don't it is important to list whether 4wd / off-road vehicles or sedans can make the trip. Additionally, appreciate the approximate time to complete the walk to the cache. Again, certainly here in Saudi Arabia it would be best if you carried water with you whenever you are away from your vehicle. Life is tough in the Desert...it is tougher when you are unprepared!
  10. Eltee1...Two sets of maps available. Garmin Dealer in Riyadh had a bitmap "background" map of Riyadh, Dammam, and Mekkah, which acted as a wallpaper and therefore you could off road navigate with it. The other map is Garmin City Navigator Middle East Version 2 which you can get through Garmin or at the local Riyadh dealership. Hope this helps. Saber6
