You could write "Don't steal me" in neon letters 10 feet high and put a rat trap on them so if someone tries to steal them it snaps on them and that still won't stop someone from stealing it. We've lost all of ours and I guess that's the risk you take when you send one out.(I am waiting for the new one to come in memory of our sons trackable that went missing)

Not true! We are in England and our son's dragon trackable went 5 miles and now is missing for a year, my fishbone one was taken to Portugal and has been missing 3 years! We are 2 for 2 because all our trackables are missing!The dragon lasted less than two weeks, the fishbone lasted about four months. Our 12 year old son doesn't even want to put more out because they keep getting stolen. (the dragon was his trackable).

R.I.P to my trackable Dem bones. A guy picked it up in Portugal (he has quite a few other trackables too) three years ago. I wrote him with no response. I was hoping he'd eventually put dem bones in another cache but no such luck. Also R.I.P to my 12 year old son's dragon trackable Stomps. Barely moved before it disappeared without a trace. Hasn't been seen since earlier this year. I still have hope for this one though so if someone in the Merseyside, UK area picked up Stomps (red dragon with Stomps written down the side and a curse on the back) please contact me. I had someone that had picked it up earlier that thought it was a key chain before they saw the curse on the back so someone could have picked this up and not known that it wasn't supposed to be kept.

England is covered in nettles. Geocaches are always in nettles. I went geocaching one day and was stung so bad by nettles that it didn't go away for four days. I took antihistamines, rubbed witch hazel, put baking soda paste on my hands...nothing worked...it was really tingly and painful. (don't give me the who-ha about the duck leaves...Ive heard it all before)

A TB that went missing for two weeks and was finally found got accidently logged into wrong cache this past weekend. I was really upset because I logged five others perfectly, but this one and I have some kind of curse going on!!! So take comfort that your not the only one this has happened to.

Fianccetto--Very helpful suggestions. Son denies all knowledge of ever having even seen it...so I don't know. I thought he had, but maybe he hadn't??? Will go through all your great ideas and hopefully it'll turn up soon.

Thank you for everyone's replies. There is a slight chance that it dropped out of my pocket when we were picking our son up from his first cub overnight ever. For just one night he had tons of stuff and I was struggling to take it all out to the car. Have e-mailed cub scout leader to ask her if she's found it..so who knows maybe its not lost just temporarily misplaced. We would def want to replace the TB if she wasn't going to release her copy. I feel like its only fair since its my fault she doesnt have it anymore.

If this were facebook I would thumb up your statement lol...your right about panicked searching not working well..since I still havent found it. Would be great if she could re-release...

That is good advice (about not rushing it) I guess I just didnt know how to do the travel bug if she was willing to take a replacement, and that's what I was really asking.

I am freaking out. I've lost someone's TB...well actually not somebody's...the TB belonged to a class of school children in london. Which makes it worse because they are the same age as my son (who's 8) I've went back to the place that the bug last visited. My husband and I searched for over an hr with no luck. I have looked all over the house and car...its just not there... I've written the owner of the bug (the teacher I guess) and told her I've lost the bug and offered to replace it for her. My question is...how do I do it? Do I buy the travel bugs and send them to her? Do I make it up and give her the numbers so that she and the class can track it?? I feel really awful about this...can't believe i was so irresponsible with it.
