  1. So I guess this is normal behavior since nobody else discussed that problem. What's the use of the 'Map' link again?
  2. If you set up your cache for premium member only then you will have access to the list of all those who visited your cache page and how often they visit, that's the only option. I've done that in the past for the 1st few days of a new cache to see who actually was taking a look at new cache, some are notified instantly when a cache is published and you can find out who they are. Next time you go for a FTF, you know those who are in the race with you... ;-)
  3. I don't know if it's related or not as it was a long time I haven't looked at additionnal waypoints. I had to check the final waypoint where a cache of mine was to be sure coordinates were correct and I find the "map" link of no use as it does not point to that waypoint coordinates but to the start of it, the published coordonates instead. I tried with another cache and it's the same. The "map" link for any waypoint always show the same thing. Why it does not pin point the location of the waypoint I'm looking at?
  4. Hello? No Lackey to answer this simple question?
  5. Does geocaching.com really run an official facebook page? On the front page of geocaching.com I see a twitter link but nothing about facebook. This one with 7300 fans seems official because it is written in the description but anyone can create such a page and I cannot see who is the creator so. Also, someone who find this one first with over 22000 fans may think it's the good one? It would be nice if GS could add a link on the front page that link to the official facebook page.
  6. Isn't that what should be avoided? The last few times there was an upgrade there was some nasty problems following on and I remember reading long thread of upset people. But I don't mind, I like new features and fixes... just curious if the given reason was in fact good WOW, I was the one crying out loud for you to start phasing out IE6 (here and here) just like any other major influent one on internet and early 2010 you said you had no plan to do so. Glad you changed your mind and hopefully it will be less a nightmare playing in the code for developpers. You went pretty fast on it though... The KB state : It's important to upgrade before March 25, 2010 to help avoid any negative impact or feature limitations. From no plan to phase out 2 months ago to already having this is a fast turn around! Great now let's move on with the new generation bowsers! Congrats for the move!
  7. Yep, it's now solved (but wasn't a few minutes ago...) Thanks
  8. True, sorry... Only <blockquote> still display a gray background which is not looking good. Today cellpadding reverted back like a few days ago and is not working in HTML cache decription. Then it was fixed and now it is broken again?
  9. I am not sure exactly how to interpret the table, but I think you should read as e.g. support for "Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3" ends 24 months after the next service pack releases (not likely to happen) or at the end of the product's support lifecycle, whichever comes first. If I am not mistaken, extended support for Windows XP will end in 2014. So there is probably more than 4 years of support left for IE6. I stand corrected. It's not because they support GS must follow... Some people get a new car for new gadgets even if the previous one is still full on warranty. I hope GS just like other major player will fix a date where support for IE6 will be abandonned. Thus all the remaining 90% will benefit of the latest great CSS addon and such. This will also simplify a lot more what those guys have to deal with to please everyone. Finding hacks so IE6 behave (or almost behave) like FF or any modern browser is a pain and is very time consuming. A GIFT FOR THE DEVELOPERS : http://www.savethedevelopers.org/ And an old image already on this topic back then :
  10. No word if you plan to phase out support for IE6 this year? I hope 2010 will be the last year you support it and if it's the case, don't wait too much to display a banner. You have to promote all the new features and power that gives the new browsers, something IE6 cannot handle at all and that slow you down with development. About 2-3 years ago I remember there was discussions about a V2. Is this still in the works? What is it exactly? Thanks
  11. What are the chances that all the workaround I'm doing now will still be valid in a few days, weeks with a next update on Tidy (that's how you call it?) It's insane, I'm playing with <p> and <br> before or after <ul> and or <div> to make it look like before. In the end it don't look good in my editor but it's fine here and I really don't like that because I'm afraid one day you will solve the problem and will revert back to nrmal HTML behavior and I will have to edit everything again. :-/ I think I would prefer you tell me to not modify anything at all and that next week all we be looking just fine like it was before after you tweeked it or removing some severe restriction.
  12. While I'm editing all my cache description again, what bugs me is the fact that I was used to edit it in a WYSIWYG HTML editor so what I was getting in my editor matched what I would get here but it's no more the case. I find some tricks to get around the problems but it's just not user friendly... maybe GS should think about incorporating something like http://www.openwebware.com/ so we could edit in HTML right here.
  13. Worked for me! Hope all others will find this solution until i's fixed. Thanks
  14. True, sorry... Only <blockquote> still display a gray background which is not looking good.
  15. Does this mean <blockquote> and cellpadding attribute for tables won't be fixed until next update?
  16. Exactly and a banner like displayed on YouTube or even Landsharkz should begin NOW so they could target something like July 1st. It will then be so much easier for the developpers to forget about all the hacks they have to add and verify each time to make things works with IE6. I'm running another website than mine and stats show me that from a month to another around 65-75% of users are visiting with IE and in that, between 10-20% only are with IE6, all others are with IE7 or IE8. They have stats and I wonder how it looks like for them. Do you think those are kept for private use?
  17. The more I think of it, you should really detect IE6 and stick to the top of every page this: Of couse just like in Asterix, there will be a few indomitable Gauls that should speak out... Sorry, I'm translating from French where this would fit perfectly.
  18. They haven't said why that particular change? I mean there must be someone who asked to add space between lines, I doubt it's one of the programmer who took the initiative. I bet this has also been discussed around a table, no? I vote for 1.25em
  19. Still nothing about <blockquote> and cellpadding attribute for tables?
  20. IE6 is a difficult situation. It was released in 2001 I agree and I wonder why you do not use something like http://code.google.com/p/ie6-upgrade-notification-bar/ and adapt it for you? I would even go further and just do like Google is doing for YouTube and write a message about the fact they wil be phasing out support for IE6 soon (must be very soon now).
  21. The overhaul of the site design has intruded some on the user's control over their cache descriptions and profiles. We are working on a solution right now to give that control back to the user, but it is fairly complicated given the nature of the design changes to the site. For that reason I cannot promise when it will be corrected, but it is a top priority. Thanks, that's what I wanted to read. While I was still looking around I noticed that when you want to look at pics in a gallery, they don't show up. Must have been reported before I guess? See here and click a picture. Good night working on this and that! Hope the night won't be too long for all of you... I'll take another look tomorrow.
  22. Ouch, why so many change to cache page, I mean why are you parsing the code differently? Was there really abnormal abuse of some code? The 1st page of a cache I looked was one of mine and it is not looking good. I have a background color but when there is a <blockquote> now the background color is overrided and is gray. Cellpadding attribute of my tables are no more working. Will those 2 be fixed soon? Thanks
  23. OIC, that make sense... thanks.
  24. As usual - oops! Congrats! I should be there one day also, still a few years away.
