  1. I was contacted by a cacher looking for my cache. He asked for a hint because he "hates to log DNFs." He left the area after searching for 45 minutes but did not log a DNF. My question is....why do people cheat the system because they have a DNF. This guys profile has 0 DNFs but 111 finds. We all know that a person is going to have some DNFs, so why try to look better than you really are? I'll never understand some people. They must win at all costs. Isn't it more important to play the game with integrity?
  2. I think a bad cache is one that isn't maintained. I realize that I've just begun this sport, but my first find had nothing in it. From the logs, I knew it was a good cache. However, I think someone might have raided it before my find. I can't say that my experience was due to a bad owner, but it was a great disappointment as my first find.
  3. Yes, it does exclude females. Before anyone bashes me about being sexist, let me explain. I believe that today's church (in general) has little or nothing for a man. That's why you see moms and children going to church while dad stays home to mow the yard. This club is an effort to let Christian men and boys fulfill their primal need to hunt. It allows them to beat their chest, swing from vines and say "WE BE MEN!" Now, with that said, we are not going to turn away a woman who wants to visit the club to see what it's about. We also are planning family outing days every couple of months. That's a saturday that the men can bring their family and we'll all hunt for a couple of hours and then have lunch in a park. WOW!!!! WHAT CENTURY IS THIS!!??? Sorry but i think the "Church" has done enough to damage families with out having to pull Dad's away from then every Saturday, When he should be spending time with the "little MRS" and the kids! Your choice of words is interesting. I'd like to hear more about your theory of the church damaging families. Our GC club meets on Tuesday evenings for only a couple of hours. The men will have plenty of time to spend with "the Mrs." Now that I think about it...the church has damaged families. I believe that the church has become too feminine for men to feel comfortable or accepted there. It's never been the intention for the woman to be the spiritual leader of the home. So, when Dad doesn't go to church, the family suffers. The church needs to find a way to get men into and active in the church so that they will take responsibility for their familial and spiritual duties. And yes, I am a man.
  4. I already have the name picked out. Several people have liked it. It's "The G.A.G. Order" and stands for Guys About Geocaching or Guys Always Geocaching. SO, it would exclude females ? Yes, it does exclude females. Before anyone bashes me about being sexist, let me explain. I believe that today's church (in general) has little or nothing for a man. 5. Everyone is talking about how "evil" Wal-mart is, yet it is the free market system that has allowed them to rise to such heights. Nobody likes to make car payments, but do they boycott Toyota because they sold the most cars last month? Disney has captured the market for amusement parks, yet they haven't seen a decrease in customers. The fact is we will complain about that which we do not wish to pay for and gleefully pay for that which we do wish to enjoy.
  6. Has anyone ever stored the log and pencil the clear plastic pencil storage bags that you send to school with your elementary student? Those have a thicker plastic and can withstand the point of a pencil. They are usually zippered, too.
  7. If you've never seend Second Life, this may be a bit foreign to you. Second Life is a virtual life that allows you to make avatars of yourself and interact with other people on "islands". For instance, LifeChurch.tv has an island that is similar to their churches. People interact there with other people is similar fashion. It's basically a virtual chat room that allows you to listen to things and even see videos. For more info, go to their website. Has anyone ever considered exploring Second Life as a place for geocaching? -Micah

  9. I hope to start a geocaching club within a week or two. I've talked to several people that seem to show an interest. Other than ground roots recruitment, what other suggestions might you have that will easy my learning curve in starting a club for the first time? Thanks, OKExplorist300
  10. I hope to start a club from the men of our church in a week or two. Right now they like the name "G.A.G. Order" (Guys About Geocaching). It will be in Edmond, Oklahoma and we hope to meet every Tuesday night. OKExplorist300
  11. I'll be at the YMCA of the Rockies north of Fraser for a week's vacation in March. Are there any good caches in the area that I can hunt? I'm a novice and will probably have a couple of non-cachers with me, so the easier the better. I'm not looking to spend 12 hours in the snow or have to use a snow mobile to get there. Thanks for your help! Micah
  12. What are you using to protect your GPS when not in use? Mine is a handheld Magellan Explorist 300 and fits nicely into a rugged large cell phone holster. The holster has a place to put small pieces of paper and a pen/pencil and attaches to your belt with a tough loop and snap. It's perfect for geocaching. You can find ones similar to it at hardware stores such as Lowe's and Home Depot. Micah
