Funny Christmas stories...well...We grew up in the days of the first video game consoles...no not pong (although we had that too)! The Atari set we got for Christmas that year came with a few games for us 3 boys to enjoy, a racing game, Pitfall and Donkey Kong. Being young boys, we (my two brothers and myself) were up before the sun and READY to go!! Come on Dad, Wake up Mom...let's open PRESENTS!!!!!! FINALLY, out of the bedroom pops the "adults" (always spoiling our fun with their late sleeping in anyway...what, like they were up LATE or something???). "Alright" Dad said, "Let's get this show on the road" And with that, Dad started handing out the gifts as he always would, while Mom went into the kitchen to check on the Turkey (those turkey dinners were a chore in those days...not like the easy meal of today) ;-) After the rain of wrapping paper subsided, we found that we indeed had a new Atari and we were fighting over who would play first!! "I wanna play" Yells Bobby! "Let me play" shouts Sean! I'm the middle boy, so I knew right off that I wouldn't get to play first, but hey, watching IS fun...right?? We soon quieted down a bit, hooked the many wires up to the machine and TV, and we were now ready to go!! In goes the race game, the fun was almost instantaneous...until we started arguing over who was next!! The fighting got to be too much, and soon my Grandma comes into the room in a huff! "Quiet down or your Dad says he'll take that game away from you" she warns...Grandma was sooo very nice and always a joy to have visit!! We didn't listen, and sure enough, Dad came in and started his yelling!! He got about halfway through his rantings when he noticed the game, decided he'd solve the problem and sat down to play with us!! Now, all the adults (Mom, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncles and Aunts) were in the kitchen playing cards or talking while awaiting the feast, while us three boys and my Dad were in the bedroom playing our video game! Soon, we realized that we had lost control of the game altogether and went on about our business of playing with our other toys which BARELY even got unwrapped!! About an hour or so later, my Mom yells in for us boys to come and get the table set for dinner...and "where's your Dad"! The table was set, the dinner was arranged carefully onto the table (there was sooo much...Turkey, dressing, mashed taters, sweet taters, corn green beans, baked macaroni and cheese, baked beans, scalloped corn, the usual veggie trays and the fruit salad)...but still no Dad! "Where is your Dad" Mom asked again. Well, when we FINALLY got Dad to quit playing, us boys had already fixed our plates and were eating, Mom was mad at Dad and the game was put up in the "adults" bedroom!!! :-( Thanks Dad, YOU got our game taken away!!! I know...long story, but it was a memorable Christmas!!! Merry Christmas all!!!

As much as I'd LOVE to get one of those SUPER DD coins ( I love that glitter), I just didn't take any pictures taken this year. :-(

Well Jeepstr....read the original post and a few of my posts after that, and you'll get a good idea of who Tommy Trojan and Helen of Troy were!! Or, you can write me and I'll send you some info about this guy...he truly WAS a great contributor!! And YES...I DO have Jeep!! Although it's a new Liberty, I have taken it out to Vegas and "tested" it's ability...NICE!!! When the 5 yr warranty is over, I plan to lift, modify and add until it is nearly unstoppable!! As of yet, I haven't been able to find anything that got me stuck...even the 4' snow drifts we got last winter weren't a match!! I PRAY for a nice snowstorm this year, but it's currently 40* out and supposed to be sunny today!! MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!!

Actually, a coin can be either a traveler OR a collectible!! I have a binder full of about 115 coins that I collect, and I also have about 15-20 coins traveling about with missions just like a TB!!

I bought my new Jeep Liberty in January of this year, as I was pretty much looking for anyway to "test" my Jeep out, I started searching the web for info on where to go play! One of the sites that came up was the GC.com. As I already had this old Magellan gps, I decided to ask a friend "Tod" and see if he had interest! After finding our first, we were hooked! Of course, we needed a better gps, so we bought the Garmin Etrex.

Although the GC handbook states how you are supposed to "handle a TB with care" and all such rules, this TB MAY have problems! First, a CD is a bit large even for most regulars (save a large ammo box or lock&lock)...and even a large ammo box might be pretty full. I can just imagine someone "stuffing " the CD into a cache. Second, a CD is easily scratched! Even a CD in a case will be taken out and played (or worse). I just don't know how long one like that will be playable! With all the care you will undoubtedly take, this will still happen eventually! MOST of us will be careful, but you always run the risk of it being found by a less than respectful person, an accident prone person or something like that. Mom and pop may not realize it's a TB, let the kids play with the "shiny disc" in the back seat on the way home and find out later after it's too late.

Wow...if it weren't a 3-4 hour drive EACH way, I'd love to go rescue your TB Mustcache! I'll keep a watch on that cache and if no activity in a few more weeks, I might be able to get a friend to go on a run with me!! No promises, but I haven't been to that area, and I don't think it's all that far from a few other states I haven't cached yet!! Good luck with the TB...and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I agree...if it were on a list, or on a "discover" table. Those placed on the tables to be re-distributed are pretty much the same as being in a cache. Those aren't there as part of the normal discovering item! What I'm talking about are the checked-in Tbs and coins which are only supposed to be available for trading . I realize this is different at other events, but if I read what both of you are saying, you wouldn't mind the local TB guy coming in and just ransacking the tables for discoveries?? Like I said, I don't care if it's done as long as my TB won't get locked or anything, but I don't think this is exactly what the PTB had in mind! edit: spelling is a bother today!!

Yes, coin is at the event HB. BD...I understand that you can discover a coin...but this coin was probably (not sure as I didn't plce it in the event) placed on the tables to be picked up and moved on by another cacher. That's NOT what is happening here, it is being picked up, the number written down and then put back down. (just a guess as I don't think someone would put a "discover only" sign up at the event unless the coin stated that was it's mission) If it was placed on a table with a sign stating "PLEASE DISCOVER ME", I'd agree, but the reason for the tables ISN'T to let everyone go around the table and just write down numbers, that's a form of virtual logging. As it was worked at the '06 Geobash, the only people that were allowed to go back to the TB tables were people with TBs to trade (sure, we let cachers LOOK at the TBs, but NOT discover them because they were there). With over 1000 Tbs at an event of that nature, that's the biggest "shortcut" anyone could ever make!! I was told this by MaxB on the River.

I have a question as to this...what IS the rules on discovering at events??? If I didn't take my coin to the event, can I stop the discoveries?? Once the coin left my hands, it's in the game, but discovering at an event when the coin isn't a "discover only" coin??? I don't really mind if someone does discover it (legit), but several are discovering my coin at an event! What, is everyone going to the table and writing down the numbers?? My understanding (and I worked the tables at '06 Geobash) is that this isn't allowed. I certainly WOULDN'T want my coin locked because I didn't know what to do!!

I don't know about all that, and if you have any concerns by ALL means Do contact the proper authorities! I have removed literally HUNDREDS of batteries from our golf course (the previous owners had a nice battery PILE about 4' high behind the work barn), as long as you are careful NOT to get the liquids on you, you'll be good to go!! If the casings are already cracked or broke open, most likely the damage has already been done!! As for the restrictions...nah, more than likely just some lazy people discarding of the batteries in the easiest way possible!! Like I said, they PAY for batteries around here, not sure of how things are done out that way!! I wouldn't tell anyone to do something they aren't comfortable with, so deal with this as you see fit!!
