  1. I would like to search for caches by their terrain & difficulty this way I can fill in my missing T/D caches.
  2. Thx for your help but I'm embarrassed to say I just logged 2 separate caches as 290. What a dummy I am.
  3. I recently went caching and logged a few. I always start each log with my log count (Find #xxx). Anyway, I went to review my recent logs and noticed the count was 1 higher than it should be. I had a count of 289, 290 then attended an event, then the next log was 293, 294, and finally 295. My log counts are taken from my stats bar and I can't make any sense of this one. Unless you earn 2 finds for attending 1 event??? Any idea what's going on here? I like to be picky about things and don't like getting an extra find count if I didn't earn it! SW7S+1D
  4. I dropped off a geocoin in cache today and THOUGHT it was already activated. It wasn't so I went back to get it but someone beat me to it. Can I still activate it w/o an activation code?
  5. Does anyone know if I can change my Log in name from : Second wind, 7 sails to : Second wind, 8 sails without losing my find count? We are expecting number 8 in May Marc
  6. Thanks for the info, unfotunately I'm not up on all the other gismo's & gadget's like you are. The first sentence is all I understood. lol
  7. Everything I'm asking about is in the topic, but I'll say it again anyway. Whats the most used software for gps and geocaching is it gsak???
  8. Thanks crawil, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I would rather GC.com have a place to enter the name of a place & then it would offer up zip/area codes. Hope they add a feature like this soon!
  9. I wish there was a way (or maybe there is) to search area codes or zip codes from the GC.com site. I know there are ways to get the codes from other sites but you would think GC would have a search engine for area codes. I'm going to kentville NS this weekend so I normally go to Canada post, get an area code from there then, go back to GC and get some caches based on the area code I got from the other site. Is there a better way?? Marc
  10. I have just sent in my first cache info for review & in the cache, we placed a TB. At the end of the online info sheet it tells you how to log a TB but when I do it I'm given a few choices Write note Archive (show) etc, etc. What do I do to have this TB as inventory for the cache?
  11. I heard that geocachers are rated some how some where in cyber space. I was told that you were ranking or rated by how many caches you found, placed, not found etc. Has anyone heard of sound a site. I'm somewhat new, addicted, and can't get enough of the hype. So of course hearing that I might have a rank or rating tweeked my interest!!

    Geocoins

Thank you for the information and it certainly steered me to the next direction. I ended up going to the Calgarycacher.ca web page and realized that the geocoin was not trackable through GC.com. I sent the info to there web master to post the where abouts of this 4 digit coin. Thanx again

    Geocoins

We found a geocoin back in February, and sort of forgot about it intil today b/c we don't know how to log it. I spent quite a bit of time trying to look it up, but was slightly embarrassed to find no information that I need, or else I'm looking in the wrong places. I would like to have this show in my inventory and we also just bought 3 geocoins today, so it would be nice to know how to log these when we receive them. Plz help
  14. I'm new to GPSing and gotta say I'm pathitically addicted. I have been on a few caches and have come across some property pins in the woods, mostly Right Of Way pins. I was wondering if these are bench marks or are they just boundary pins. If they are just boundary pins (with a survey marker on them), could there be enough interest in a site to host these pins as a side find during geocaching. For example: This past weekend I went to a geocache, while on the cache I came across a pin with a survey marker on it. I marked it but don't really know what (if any thing) I could do with it. Besides delete the mark! Maybe as an idea, people could start logging these pins when they log there find so that you could increase the find time of some caches. Espescially if the pin is in the vacinity of the cache. I'm going to edit the log I made for that particular find to include the lat/lon coords. See if this will spark some interests!
  15. I'm new to geocaching, 14 finds, and the other day I was looking for #14 and ran across a bench mark or property pin. I marked it in the GPS with the following details. We were in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada at the following N 44 25.250 W064 33.156 Elevation 18 meters (I actually layed the GPS on the pin head) and I labeled it L1958 which was on the pin head. The I went to GC.com to see how to log it. I read the "how to log a bench mark" tutorial but I don't see the place anywhere to "On the benchmark's page, click on "Log this benchmark" at the top right corner of its page to log your find." I am a GC premium member, I tried typing L1958 in the PID "SEARCH FOR LOCAL BENCH MARKS" but that didn't get me anywhere. Any help here would be a nice eye opener.
  16. I'm fairly new geocacher (11 finds) and recently ran into a geocacher while on a hunt. He had gadget gallore and started talking about geocaching paperless. This reminded me that I have a palm 130m that I haven't used for a few yrs. I liked the idea of going paperless so I began trying to get Gsak to load onto the Palm 130m. So far, no luck. Is it possible to get freeware software for this Palm or is this unit too old? Thanks Marc
