  1. If it were not for the posse I put together a few weeks ago, the Port-a-Potty Bonus might have been on your list. Put enough geocachers together, you can find anything. The MT DEFIANCE CACHE is a TRICKY DICK CACHE. It probably wasn't found because the coordinates are likely several HUNDRED feet off. A GOOD CACHER will need a LOT OF TIME to FIND this cache.
  2. One of the oldest caches in the area, and one with a great view, is Council Crest Cache. Another oldie-and-goodie is Proposals, in the Rose Garden, also with a nice view. Inspirational may be the oldest still-active Portland cache with a nice walk through Forest park. Firenze Point is a clever hide...as is just about anything by Steve & Kyle. Navdog has created a number of excellent multi-caches. You'll notice that there are lots of "?" caches in the area. If you're up for a mental challenge there's a variety of puzzles to solve, by a number of different puzzle creaters. Many can be solved in advance, and most if not all puzzle-creaters are happy to respond to an e-mail message from you with your coordinates so you know in advance if you're looking in the right place.....probably not enough lead time for caching tomorrow, but possibly an option for future trips here.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Team JOYSON:sweet pictures Kiwi! I'm glad you got some shots of everyone putting the Cube together. Did anyone get some pictures of the Pumpkin & some of the hunts? What you see is all I have. When I am on the hunt, I am focused on the task - I don't usually think to take pictures. I only took that one picture of the unconstructed cube because we had to wait for everyone. The pictures of the faces came about because we wanted a backup of what the cube had looked like in case we had screwed up the interpretation. People were leaving, so we had to do it fast - still nearly left Grandpa and Bazzle in the dust without the coordinates.
  4. Our pictures are up on the cache page, including our pictures of the cube.
  5. Missed the latest on OPB. But here's another "geocaching in the press" item: apparently this month's AARP magazine has a geocaching article in it. No, haven't seen it yet, not being eligible for AARP, but may parents have saved it for us.
  6. quote:Originally posted by WheelsMan:Yeah, the Key to the Nutria has been missing for a while, now. It was [in the birthday card cache] on 9/17, but missing by 9/19. The Key to the Nutria has been overlooked before, because it did not immediately look like a travel bug. I know it has received a face-lift since I last saw it, but perhaps someone should take a second, closer, look at some of the items in that cache.
  7. Well, I'm glad you all had fun at our expense, although I'm pretty sure we would have waited until sunrise, and failed to be the one. Have hiked Eagle Creek several times - High Bridge simply must be seen. The only problem with the hike is that it is too popular... LA was quite interesting, caching wise. At one point we were 1 for 6, and the one we had found pretty much had a picture on the web page detailing exactly where it was. Boy, we were feeling like we really didn't know what we were doing... After that, we found everything we looked for, and even went back to find the more interesting ones we couldn't find before. We finished up 12 for 14.
  8. quote:Originally posted by GeoNap:I'm sorry Kiwis... I think you may have to hunt this one upon your return. Well, if #9 was anything to judge by, we might be back before #10 is approved. As for the rest of you One wannabies - you better get it before we get back!
  9. quote:Originally posted by GeoNap:BTW... Both AYTO #10 and AYTO Final are coming very soon... Hopefully not too soon. I really, really, really don't want to be in LA when this comes out (we're out Friday through Monday). I just know that even though there are two of us, that we can be - the one!
  10. Never mind. The links on the previous post didn't work and this one had been an apology. But they work now.
  11. Thanks, Sunday & Co for asking for clarification. This post must look really odd without the context! In any case, the 2004 Champoeg will be the 3rd annual (I think). But it will undoubtedly be an awesome weekend! The obvious testimonial is the number of people who have already made their camping reservations with the event still 8 months away.
  12. NOOOO!!!! Not the white eagle! My ears are still bleeding from being forced to absorb that horrible band that was playing while we were searching for a long-gone golden ticket! This is worse than First Jump! You are cruel, GeoNap!
  13. We vote for the 18th or 19th. Big soccer conflicts on the 11th and 12th... PdxMM: Let us know where we can watch CrashNBurnGirl play.
  14. We should probably make it, although possibly a bit late....US v Nigeria is on tv at 4:30 and having missed seeing US v Sweden live thanks to KATU, I'd like to see this one (Jeff may want to drive separately so he can arrive on time).
  15. Our soccer game is at 1:15 that day, but we may come by after the game....we'll see how many people we can offend
  16. quote:Originally posted by bazzle: Not to mention the unsuspecting campers in A43 and A44 A44 can't be reserved, not sure what is going on there. A43 seems to be blocked out for at least two weeks, probably more. I can't imagine any sane person booking their vacation so far in advance (and I include ourselves in that). The A loop is ours, if we only have the will. To quote Dr. McCoy: "And brother, have they got a lot of will."
  17. It looks like the camp hosts in A46 and A48 are going to be seriously outnumbered. We should warn them to leave town. "It's late and we should be quiet? Everybody's here but you. Have a drink!"
  18. We're in A47. Posted it first on the forums on pdxgeocaching.com. Didn't see any others on those forums that weren't reported here.
  19. What's the definition of a large dog?
  20. Well, I was going to brag that we had now gotten them all, but I see that would be premature. We are, at least, caught up for the moment.
  21. quote:Originally posted by Team JOYSON:Congrats on catching up Bazzle. Drats... we thought we actually had it down to GR/GG & us. Oh well, a little competition never hurt anyone right? Bring on 8-10 We're almost caught up - just have to find time to get out to the coast. Darn this thing called work! No hurry on 8-10 just yet.
  22. quote:Originally posted by Team JOYSON: We've DONE THEM ALL! I guess I could re-do Play or Pyramid, but I've learned from my past mistakes, and I'm not into watching my head explode. I figured for sure you'd place something after our log on Poetry in Motion. <sigh> we're patient... we'll wait... Oh, by the way... we accidentally topped 200. Didn't realize it was coming up so quickly, otherwise we would have saved it for something REALLY COOL! Firenzie Point was a neat hide though. Oh, never fear. There are more Pyramids coming, although they will each have a different style puzzle. But first, #4 must I also conquer, lest, Geonap call me a wimp. Congratulations on 200, though. It's a lot of caches. I think we're creeping up on 300.
  23. Glad to see I'm not the only one up at this hour. Go to bed! Geeze! You're not even working on one of our caches.
  24. Like many others, FFTE was among our first caches...and we agree with PdxMM that the name is certainly truth in advertising! We've enjoyed the SMC caches, too. Congratulations, Laserman, on reaching your 2nd cach-iversary!
