Salaries are similar to the US, but exchange rate turned $30 into R369 here, except now it's more like R400 for $30. As time goes on, so our currency goes further and further into the toilet. In the good old days we got two dollars for a rand.

I am hiding a new mystery cache and I don't know wether to make it premium or not.

One of the problems with the premium membership is in countries where the exchange rate is through the roof and/or the economy is bad. The dollar value for premium membership is high by comparison especially if one finds on an irregular basis, like when on vacation once a year. This discourages the activity. Would you pay $369 for a premium membership?

The place near where the original traditional cache was (the one that is missing) qualifies as an Earthcache (it is called the Earthship, an eco house built into the slope) and thinking about it, perhaps the people who logged the missing cache thought that visiting the Earthship was actually the intention of the cache. I have asked for the trad cache to be archived and am placing the Earthship as an Earthcache.

I get to a cache with my grandaughters that was supposedly found by two other cachers recently only to hear from the owner of the property that the cache had been stolen long ago and the person who placed the cache is long gone and does not respond to messaging.

There seems to be little activity in the South African geocaching scene at the moment. Is there any chance of recovery or has the state of the country with crime and load shedding on top of Covid killed geocaching here for good.
