  1. Daisy and Me, you must be fairly close to us! I am hoping to place Jock into a cache in the village where I work which I think is about 12 miles from you. It will be a completely horsey themed cache to help him on his way I know its a difficult task so will make things easier by putting a lami-tag onto him with a checklist Thanks for all your feedback guys, now I know it was worth tracking down all the racecourse info to include on Jocks bug page! Cheers! Tiffany
  2. Yep, I was going to do a laminated card listing the UK racecourses which I was going to attach to him as an aide as well as listing them on his page. It will be interested to see how much mileage he knocks up staying in the uk! Thanks for your thoughts Tiffany
  3. Hi guys! I would like your opinion about the goal I want to give to one of my travelbugs. I havent released him yet as I wanted to check this was ok. He is called Jock E Bear and I want him to visit all 59 of the UK racecourses before then moving onto the ones in the US. I wanted to check though that this was acceptable. I actually work in the racing industry but this TB wouldnt be connected with my workplace in any way, I'm a saddler, not a jockey! Input would be much appreciated Tiffany
  4. As a canal user (we own a narrowboat on the Kennet and Avon) I have to say I dont think its a good idea to actually immerse a cache into the canal. Not only are you going to have problems finding something suitable to use as a container, you will also have problems anchoring it firmly. When a narrowboat passes by it will try to suck the cache underneath. Even if the cache is heavy and firmly anchored, each time a boat goes by its going to pull at that anchoring and eventually it will become weakened. Also, if there was any instance of a cache fouling a lock, it would actually be a criminal offence. We have enough of a problem as it is with vandalism to locks. So, even if its originally placed so that it doesnt appear to be any chance of it fouling the underneath of a boat, there is still a chance. Having spent plenty of time up to our armpits fishing about in freezing water trying to clear our prop, I really wouldnt be impressed if it was part of a cache that I dragged out! It probably wouldnt do too much damage to our boat, the bottom of the hull is 12mm steel after all, however, some of the fibreglass cruisers are a little more delicate! Hope this viewpoint helps. 5. If anyone needs a recommendation for The Tryst, take it from me! They are brilliant. I frequently order bottles of Moniack Mead from them and they arrive within a day or so in perfect condition. I would have no hesitation what so ever in ordering from them whether in the UK as I am, or abroad. Likewise, if anyone needs a recommendation for Moniack Mead............*hic* Tiffers!
  6. I'd love to see the face of the cabbie you use to get you to the tb hotel Tiffany
  7. My husband and I are coming over to Orlando in April (ok, I know, its months away but I am already getting excited about it!) and wanted to see if we could do a couple of caches while there. We are going to see if we can find the travel bug hotel while there to pick up a couple to bring back to the UK as well as dropping off a bug of our own perhaps. Any other suggestions for easy to find caches would be gratefully received! Obviously I could look at the caches closest to the ones suggested so far in this thread but I would also like to take into account personal views about areas not to go to etc. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Tiffany Rangers of Ithilien - UK
  8. Its an etrex yellow for us In fact, we have two of them because we ended up arguing about whose turn it was to find the cache! Found first cache today after a long break caused by an injury! Its good wandering around under wet dripping trees. You can't beat it! Tiffany
  9. Well done!!! May your next 400 be as fun(?) as your last!! Tiffany
  10. Congrats!!! Glad you made your 101st one a rescue mission!! Good luck on the next batch! Tiffany
  11. Wow!! I have just learned more about batt......errr, cells, than I ever knew!! Thanks MCL! Right, off to Wilkinsons for me! Tiffany
  12. I think I am going to have to settle for that warm glow too! I physically helped with the locating and logging of these two caches but dont want to take away any of my sisters sense of achievement either! Mind you, I did get to see 5 Hares playing in a field together Huge bonus! Tiffany
  13. If you help someone hide their first caches, what is the etiquette about logging them as a find? Somehow I get this feeling its not quite the done thing but what do other people feel? Thanks!! Tiffany [This message was edited by Rangers of Ithilien on February 12, 2003 at 02:41 PM.]
  14. I raised a similar subject about 2 months ago after I came out of hospital after an accident ( http://opentopic.Groundspeak.com/0/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=1750973553&f=1500909683&m=6800971145 ) Someone did say that you should be able to tell from the difficulty rating however, that isnt always possible. We did a 1/1 today which I would definately say isnt suitable for wheelchairs. It would be great if it was something which you could construct a search around and I do hope this is implimented. There are some which are obviously suitable for wheelchair access (generally town/city ones)and there are some which are obviously not.... but there are a huge amount of caches which are maybes! Tiffany
  15. A cheap Etrex Summit has been obtained for the Scooby Snacks! Many thanks for all your help folks. Tiffany P.S The Scooby Snacks completed their first two caches today and I can officially say.....they are hooked!!
  16. Hmmm, thanks for your input guys. We got our etrex off Ebay originally and had no end of hassle with the purchase of it. I wont go into the ins and outs of what happened again as I did post here about it when it happened. Mainly as a warning incase anyone else was thinking of dealing with the supplier. Anyways, I am afraid I am going to shy away from Ebay for the purchase of this! Thanks for checking there though! Tiffany
  17. My sister and her little boy have just joined up for geocaching under the team name of The Scooby Snacks and I am searching for a cheap second hand gps for them. If anyone is upgrading or has one which they would pass on for a reasonable sum I would appreciate it if you could drop either them or me a line We are aiming to do our first joint cache on Monday! Thanks muchly!! Tiffany
  18. quote:Originally posted by TreeBeard (Pid):YeS Macavity is in the ye old TB-Clink! you'll have to come and rescue him if you want him back hehehehe. Oh help!! Hmmm, is the cache do-able on crutches? I am confined to them for another 6 weeks! Eeep! Tiffany
  19. Poor Macavity!!!! I warned him so many times his wicked ways would do him no good!! LOL Looks like he is really in trouble this time!! Many thanks to the Nia's and to Pid for giving me the best giggle since I wrote my bike off! Tiffany (who still has the giggles!)
  20. Congrats on your new baby and a happy new year to you. Its nice to see you up and about again! It does sound like your pc has been very poorly! Hope it continues to get better! I am looking forward to seeing where Macavity ends up after his little stay with you Best wishes to all your family. Tiffany
  21. Just out of interest......the camera man that worked with Chris Packham wasnt called Trevor by any chance? Tiffany "Ok, I did a search on ebay for New Rock boots and got tupperware instead! I think I am going mad!"
  22. "crash and dash"!!! ohhhh!!! Hehehehe!!!! Ohh my stitches hurt!!! Oh! Wait, they came out today I am glad to hear that its something which might soon be searchable on as it opens the sport to a whole new group of people. I did think of the difficulty levels being the best way of telling but everyones interpretation varies just ever so slightly so its not failsafe. Tiffany
  23. Hmmm, due to an argument between a Rover25 and my suzuki bandit 600 I am consigned to crutches and a wheelchair at the moment! Hopefully not for too long. It did bring a thought into my drug hazed brain though. How many caches are there in the UK which are suitable for wheelchair access? Is there any way to flag these so that they would be easier to find on the geocaching website? Obviously if someone was to place a cache in a wheelchair friendly place then they could always make mention of that in the cache description. Its not very searchable on though is it? Tiffany
  24. Well, time and effort can show on a cache page in more ways than the backgrounds or whether or not they have music etc. Some people really dont seem to bother with the text at all, just literally saying "here it is, this is whats in it". That sort of info really doesnt inspire me to go and find their cache. It doesnt even really have to be local info either, its just the whole way its presented and worded. If time and care has been taken with the cache description and info then its almost certainly been taken with the location of the cache! Tiffany
  25. I dont know how close any of you are to Avebury however, every Wednesday evening there is a bike meet at the Red Lion pub there. Anyone interested in meeting up there? Email me from the contact details in my profile if you are interested in getting together. Tiffany (EDIT: Already have some interested people though they will be turning up in one of their 'interesting' cars! Should make the bikers heads turn a little!)
