  1. Well done Tiffany (I think I need to up my rate of caching!)
  2. Blimey! I think everyone has had a caching spree over the weekend! Congrats to you too, may your next 100 be as enjoyable as the first! Tiffany
  3. I am pretty sure that the old jaw traps are banned because of the potential to cause agonising injuries to animals rather than instant death. Humane traps however can be used but according to The Trap Man even some of them require licensing. I wonder though if his tip of the day is how some cachers manage to get up so early in the morning...... "A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from going back to sleep" Tiffany
  4. Congrats!! Errrr, keep up the good work! Tiffany
  5. I happened to pop into the Basingstoke Branch of Staples and they had the yellow etrex in there too. I didnt get to see what price it was at but I guess it would be the same as the others. We have a couple of them ourselves and as someone else said, other than the slight hiccups in tree cover, its just fine! Tiffany
  6. I think that if a bug needs to travel to the Statue of Liberty then an attempt should be made to place the bug into a cache as close as possible. For example, I have a bug which is slowly travelling from the UK to New Zealand. He wants to meet up with some sheep! Ideally this should involve him being logged into a cache somewhere rural as well as hopefully a few piccies of him with sheep! I wouldnt want someone in South Africa (where he currently is) to give him to a friend going to NZ so they could take a piccie before replacing him in another SA cache. I am happy to wait so his goal can be achieved properly rather than taking a short cut! Tiffany
  7. Well, I am part of a caching couple in that one of the Rangers is my husband and occasionally I manage to drag him out with me. I also go out with my sister (who I introduced to caching) and her 4 year old son. Other than that, we are not social cachers or group cachers! We discovered caching via a link on bookcrossing I think! I am all up for it while my husband is a bit on the sluggish side. At the moment I have to rely on other people for transport but when I get back on the road with a bike/car then I will be off again! I just wanted to get out into the countryside a bit more and needed an excuse. Numbers are interesting to me but not absorbing! Tiffany
  8. I have just used the travel bug history link and then spotted this link....... Its working for me! Tiffany
  9. Eleventy-firsts are of course special! Congratulations from the Rangers of Ithilien
  10. I have to say I usually do take something. I dont think I have ever simply moved an item onto another cache though as I take something as a momento of my visit to that cache! Because of one thing and another, I dont get to visit too many caches so every item is treasured! Personally if you are going to take something from the cache, then you should intend to keep it. When you move stuff from cache to cache, it becomes a bit battered and bashed and starts looking shoddy very quickly. This certainly doesnt help the quality of items in caches imho Tiffany
  11. Well, it didnt come up with anything when using our ID so I tried my name...... Sonar napkin fifty Off insanity prank Nothing really appropriate! So I tried my hubbys name...... sonar kink ramp Perhaps our names are simply too long??? Tiffany
  12. What sort of sig item would you use Moon Herb? Some people tie them in with their user ID's like the Wombles while others find something they themselves find pleasing. I would guess that the most hunted though are the T&J Bears though the wombles are in competition with that now! I think the idea of having a place to register them could be fun. As long as the fact that they are not necessary is stressed. It would be horrible if newcomers were to think it was an obligation and felt they couldnt afford it. Tiffany
  13. That actually sounds like a lot of fun! Unfortunately thats the weekend I jet of to Florida! I hope you have luck finding someone. Tiffany
  14. I'm excited, we have just had a delivery of Middle Earth hand made coins arrive! They are very limited though so will be put into caches that we feel are really excellant! These are the last which were made though and they wont be repeating them so I am going to have to find another sig item for when these end. A fluffy elf anyone? Tiffany
  15. I have to admit that some of the locationless ones I have seen dont exactly take much to solve them. I was able to solve one simply by doing a web search based on the question you had to email off the answer to. With google it came up on the first page! I hasten to add that I dont intend logging that till I can it in person! Certainly one of the ideas I have doesnt even appear to be answerable from any of the searches I have conducted! Lets hope we get the chance to try them out sometime soon Tiffany
  16. *grins* I know which one thats for I think! I know where there are some huge 'blue men' just waiting to be photoed! Just have to persuade someone to take me there at the moment Tiffany
  17. Ahh, its not the seeking but the setting of them that I am interested in I have transport problems at the moment so cant get out much to find caches. I am half way through doing a locationless one at the moment though. The thing is, I have come up with a couple of good ideas and I dont want to forget about them! I shall have to be patient I guess Many thanks! Tiffany
  18. At the moment in the guidelines for submitting caches it states....... "currently there is a moratorium on new locationless caches" Is this still the case and if so, when is it likely to change? Thank you Tiffany
  19. We always carry bags to take away any rubbish we either see or create while we are out and about. I have to say though that in the cases of the rural caches we have done, there hasnt been any problem with litter. Perhaps we have been lucky? Tiffany
  20. I am attempting to complete cache GC4226 which involves finding someone to assist who either lives at, or can travel to the town of my choice! Andover in Hampshire, UK, has a long twinning association with Redon in Brittany so, if there is any cacher in that area who would like to have a go at this, please drop me a line via my profile. I look forward to hearing from you! Many thanks Tiffany Parkinson
  21. It sounds like it will definately be a different sort of cache! UK canals though are different to the sort of water you will be hiding yours in. Canals here are sometimes only 2'6" deep and from time to time the narrowboats can even get stuck on silt banks! We also have a width issue. A narrow beam canal can be just wide enough to allow two narrowboats to pass with only inches to spare (2 narrowboats at 6'11" approx each plus 6" for example). You dont want to have a concrete block to navigate as well. Aisledog, I am not totally against underwater caches personally, just ones on canals and navigable rivers. There are plenty of other non-navigable watery locations. However, I also agree with TartanT with regards to the safety of this when it comes to small children. Accidents do happen, it would be horrific if Geocaching was cited as the reason people were fishing about in the water. Tiffany
