  1. Adding two asterisks both before and after a coordinate string in your log will present the same result. **Coordinates** will look like this on a posted log: Coordinates
  2. Search for Cache Crate on You Tube and you can see some examples of what you'll get. Similar to the GeoBox sold by geocaching.com
  3. Thank you both for replying and Keystone for even further clarification. That is now added to my knowledge base and I will update my cache pages accordingly when I am ready to submit for review.
  4. I tend to create cache pages then mull over them (OK, agonize) for quite some time. How long is a cache considered NEW when looking at the list of Recently Viewed Caches? Is it two weeks? And is that based off the placed date i assume? Can anyone answer this question or direct me to a link. Thanks
  5. Thanks for the info. I don't really show it to anyone or move it so locking it won't be a big deal to me. I am going to leave it unlocked for now just to see how many more people attempt to log it. So far, it's only been one user. I'm not a big FB user but it looks to me like this is just an image of the codes which will require the "cheater" to manually enter the codes. Hoping mine is near the end of the list and most "cheaters" get tired of entering the numbers by then.
  6. I also had a TB discovered that's never been out of my possession. I deleted the log as well as wrote a long tirade on the page about discoveries from FB will be deleted. Went to the FB page and there is an interesting little write up on their opinion of discoveries but does say you can LOCK the TB to keep it from being discovered. If I lock it I assume as the owner I can unlock it in future?
  7. Yeah, I'm sorry I put it on my watch list if this is going to continue.
  8. December 11 is confirmed as counting as one of the days right?
  9. If you are taking suggestions here, I would like to mention this. There is an adventure lab that was set up approximately 50 miles from my home base. One of the locations of this adventure is very close to my me but is about 50 miles from the published pin. Another location in this lab is approximately 50 miles in the opposite direction (100 miles from the published pin). When I am out geocaching, I may look at the new app to see if there are any adventures nearby. When I use "Search This Area" none are populated but if I were to open this particular adventure I would then see that there is indeed one lab cache near my home base and another 50 miles away (100 miles from the posted pin). I would like to see all lab cache locations be visible on the app when using the "Search This Area" function. This would include the posted, starting pin for the adventure as well as all the locations within it. The posted pin could remain orange and each location the smaller orange dot it is now and gray if the stops must be done in order. It could work similar to the way clustering did on the geocaching app when it first came out. If all the locations are near the posted pin you would only see them by zooming in. If the locations are very spread out you would be able to see where they are easily. It may help users to find lab caches when they are actually near them. Otherwise, I have a feeling what will happen is people will be at an area geocaching, look for a lab and see there is none but then later, with further searching within the app or via word of mouth, will find out that there was a lab right where they had been and they didn't even know it. That would upset me. Currently there are not that many adventures for me to keep track of so I know where they are now, but as more are published it will become more difficult to keep all the locations in my head. To summarize, I want to be able to see all adventure lab locations on the app at once, not just the published pins. It is cumbersome to have to open each lab to see where you need to go. As for notification, the best solution is to set up a physical bonus that is published the same time as the adventure which is the Pro Tip suggested in the guidelines. It is currently the best way to get a notification when a new adventure is available IMO.
  10. Anyone know if there will be some sort of area on your dashboard where you can verify your days were counted and how many are remaining? I know, it's not difficult to keep track on your own but there are those cases where the promo doesn't always work as planned from the get go.
  11. Once the list generates there is a pencil icon next to each cache name in the list. Click it. Now you can edit the cache name and/or add info in the description field about the cache. Click Submit when finished and your list will be updated.
  12. Is this API issue going to be corrected? I had an problem with my phone and it won't restore my data so I have had to rebuild it. Now any progress I've made on a Wherigo has been lost forever. It's very disheartening since I drove many miles to work on one of them and I'm not finished. Now I'll have to start over. Makes me not want to play anymore Wherigos. If there is no intention to fix it then just say so. Yes, I can download the cartridge to the app via Safari but that doesn't restore progress made on any of them.
  13. I recently met some new to me geocachers while attending a mega event. I think a nice feature would be a space on their public profile (when I am viewing it) where I could add their real name and where they are from and where we met as well as anything else I might like to. Akin to the personal cache note on a geocaching page. These notes would be visible to me only and no one else when viewing their profile. There is no where on this site to do that.
  14. Can't you long press the link to get an option to open in the app or .com? Try going to the bottom of the cache page once the app opens from the link then click "open in browser". Go back to the link and long press it to get the choice to open in safari (this assumes you are using an iPhone) or geocaching.com or whatever isn't the app. This seems to have reset it for me and only opens links in Safari and not the app. As they say in the forums, YMMV.
  15. The text is now worded correctly. I checked two apps and the web site and it's all good now. Thanks for taking care of it so quickly!
  16. They should fix the souvenir write up. It says every year it’s held on the third day in August. I think they meant the third Saturday in August. I just found a cache with 76 favorite points! May find a few others before day’s end.
  17. This is great. Is there a map for US lab caches?
  18. Yes, I can use the iPhone for my account. I was looking to help out a friend who doesn't have a smart device. I wanted to tether an iPad to my phone's hot spot. Sorry for not being clear. Any thoughts on using an old iPhone (5) that is not connected to a data plan and tethering that to my hot spot? I have set my phone as a hot spot and linked the other, older phone to it and it seems to be updating the distance of the lab caches so was wondering if that will work?
  19. Does anyone know if a WiFi only enabled iPad will work for the Adventure Labs? I want to purchase an iPad that is WiFi only and use my iPhone as a hot spot for it to connect to. The question is, does the iPad have native GPS capability so the adventure app will know where I am or must I download another app in order to make this work? I don't want to buy all this equipment to find out that it will not work. I kind of think I had this issue with a Samsung Tablet not being able to run a Metaverse AR most likely due to this issue. It connected to WiFi and ran the app but because it does not have GPS capability it would not work. Any insight is appreciated.
  20. Just go back to Play/Trackables and start over. That's what I do when that happens. No need to log out or close the page. I wish they would just fix the glitch instead.
  21. You do know you can add photos right to your log using the official geocaching app. If you've already posted your found it log you can go back in the app and create another Write Note log and add the pictures using the little camera icon within the screen where you would record your message. Not my preferred method as I like to have everything within one log. If you are recording a new found it log on the app, just add them with the photo icon. Using an iphone and Cachly is even easier. If you have already recorded your found it log, go the the Logs section ( the button in the middle at the bottom of the app) and find the log for the cache in question. Using the hamburger menu to the right of the cache name, choose the add images function and choose a photo from your library or take a new one. It's that easy! The official app does not allow you to edit your logs once posted but Cachly does (cause it's awesome). If you want to do it the "hard" way, choose a photo from your photo library and send it via e-mail to yourself. Then save the photo to your pc and remember where you put it. Go to the cache in question choose "Upload Image" located at the bottom right of your posted found it log. ( this only applies if you have already posted your log). This will open a new window to chose the location where the file is stored. Navigate to the photo location and click open. This will load the photo to the website. I personally like to record the GC number along with my commentary in case anyone is interested where the photo was taken. Doubtful, but it's a good reference for me. If you are creating a new log on the site and not through the app, all you need to do is drag the photo from the stored location on your pc directly into the section that says "Drop photos here". It is super simple to do that way and will post directly with your log once you hit the Post button. Many ways to do it, you just need to find the one that works best and is easiest for you. Good luck and hope you'll keep us posted whether you found success or not.
  22. Mine just started doing the same thing a few hours ago. I had it open and when I went back to view it the screen went crazy and the app closed. It now will not open. I rebooted my phone but that didn’t solve the problem. Currently it does not open but when you view open apps it is there in the background. I swipe up to close it but when I try to restart it the same thing happens. iPhone 7 running 12.2
  23. No, I don't think so. Currently it looks like you open an adventure and the map for that particular one is shown below the description. Does anyone know the search phrase to find the app in the app store (iOS)? I can no longer find it there. Some additional features that would be nice is a notification when you are near one of the adventures and also a notification as new ones are added within a certain radius of your current/home location.
  24. The option is now available on Cachly. It just arrived last week.
  25. That's my recommendation also. I don't have any of mine tagged as {FTF} and it still found all of them. I do add them to a private bookmark list as I get them and also check them in GSAK. But Project-GC seems to do just fine without any special handling.
