  1. Greetings , I am needing to make contact with any active cacher in the Cookeville Tessessee area. Thank you, SouthernLaCop
  2. As a Police Officer for 16 years and a Geocacher for 1 year I too find myself looking over my shoulder to see if anyone is watching me we all must remember the human race is a very suspicious bunch, is there anyone out there who can say you never looked at someone who looked out of place and wonder what they were up to! We are playing a game of hide and seek which involver lurking around in the shadows plus we do not want anyone who is not a member of the game to see us so we look over our shoulders and by NOT tring to look like we are up to no good we end up drawing that attention to ourselves. No one ever questions the meter readers or the cable guy because they look like they belong. We must remember when we are out hunting try and look like you belong. Most police are trained to read body movement, and ask lots of questions it is not done to annoy those who belong in the area it is done to stop those who DO NOT belong in an area. So if you find yourself talking to the Police tell the turth let them know what you are up to, if you see an officer in the area of the cache go to them first and tell them, I have never met someone who was up to no good come introduce them selves to me before they did something they are not supposed to. Plus soon I will be sending out a Police TB with a gole to be photographed at or with Police Departments around the world. So if your in Louisiana and find yourself hearing the following words "PUT THE GPS DOWN AND STEP AWAY FROM THE CACHE" it just might be me. SouthernLaCop
  3. I have seen on several cache pages Visitor counters and Vote for my page counters how and where does one get these and add them to cache sites owned by me? SouthernLaCop
  4. Honesty is the best policy, just go over to the closest home or business to the cache, knock when they answer , tell them you are sorry to bother them but you just wanted to let them know that you are doing a servey of Geo Latitude and longatudes logs in the area, just in case they or any of their neighabors was wondering what that person was doing walking around in circles and such. I do this when I am in plain cloths, now when in Uniforme (I'm a Police Officer) I just say I am looking for some missing items that might have been stashed in the area.
  5. I know this might have been asked already but I could not seem to find it so I now ask. Whats the largest container ever used as a cache container?
  6. Greetings Dame Chimera, Welcome to Geocaching, I do not know if you remember me but I was once a member of the ECS also (this is the X-Lord Sir Dante' de Blois of Acadie)it is good to see an old friend in a new hobby. Do keep looking as it will get better the more you look, you might want to check and see if any of the Geocachers in the Vegas area meet that way you can ask questions and have them show you some tricks of the trade. I work here in the New Orleans area and we had ameeting last night . good luck in your hunts. Tell all of my Vegan friends hello for me. In Service to your friendship, X-Lord Sir Dante'de Blois SouthernLaCop

  8. I do know that there are good GPS at lower prices but like all things you get what you pay for, I do not mind paying more for something that will be used alot. I have in the past bought lower priced items to save a little only to have that item not last. please keep the help comming. thanks SouthernLaCop If there are anyone from New Orleans on here let me know , I work in the NO area M-F.
  9. Hello everyone, A few months ago I stumbled upon the world of Geocaching while doing some research online, I am a Police Officer/Security Specialist. I have been working in the New Orleans area and on my off time have been playing around with my Laptop and GPS that I have on it , I have ben able to get in the area of some Cach locations and have ben able to find a couple sites but I have also not found more due to my limits with my current non-handheld gps, I am looking for info on some of the top of line GPS that I can use for Geocaching, and also for my Security and Police work . Something that I can download waypoints onwith best possible viewing of maps. thank you, SouthernLACop
